I am taking the Sonic Forces Egg Dragoon Mk. II theme and implementing it into every boss theme (excluding more climactic moments of the game, in which it has 1 boss and 1 zone in particular, if you know what I mean), the main ones you usually hear in the game itself, minor and major bosses.
This one was a bit challenging as I didn't really know how to write on it any further than the intro in which has an obvious Sonic 3 feel to it. I felt like I should do things a little differently for the concluding phrases, but didn't know where to take inspiration from. I ultimately chose Knuckles' Chaotix's style since I had no better ideas to pull from.
At first writing the section I felt real iffy about it, and sparingly used some of Chaotix's samples here. I initially went full on Chaotix style since I have the raw PCM samples on me, but it didn't work out in my favor since they weren't punchy enough compared to the intro section I mentioned. I then kept on writing and decided to do a fusion of Sonic 3 and Knuckles' Chaotix instrumentation because they weren't too far from each other if I used them right. The final result came out okay.
After extra time thinking about it, I found it pretty cool how the song could work in both the minibosses' favor and also Sonic's (or whoever you're playing as). My nitpick with the original miniboss theme was that while it is fantastic, I felt as if it was a bit too tense knowing the difficulty of the bosses (which probably explains the short loop as well, in which I also have a nitpick for).
I took that idea and tried expressing it through trying to sell the fact that they are a bit silly, yet intimidating upon first glance. I mean, I'd be freakin' pissing myself facing a giant capsule with big swinging spikes as offense, but really the solution to beating it is so simple that even a 4 y/o could figure it out, and giving the player confidence in the bottom half of the song with the style transition; or possibly make the boss more intimidating and feel mocked and ashamed, for that matter.

I think that the Classic Sonic songs from Forces arent terrible but the instruments just hold them back. I wish someone made a imagine of Green Hill but with the Tee Lopes style or other Genesis instruments. There is a part that would work as melancholic section, like Angel Island 2

I think this is some solid proof that Sonic Forces soundtrack fell short on instrumentation, but that's really about it. In the right hands and with the right arrangement, the tracks in Sonic Forces are just as good as the other great Sonic soundtracks.
This is so stanky!! It keeps some energy of the S3 miniboss theme but has the S&K melodic flair and depth. I think it's a fantastic fit for most bosses in the game, which are quite slow-paced and floaty, carrying that "taunting" energy this piece has. At first, I wasn't sure how it'd work for faster-paced bosses, such as Hei Hou and Big Shaker, but...nah, it works well when looking at footage while listening to this. I do think it fits some minibosses better than others; if I had my druthers for my own alternate S&K soundtrack, I'd have two miniboss themes to play for different-feeling minibosses, but that's just me.
Another thing! I love your instrumentation. You do a great job at making each instrument stand out with oomph and energy. That's a weak point I find in modern official "Classic Sonic" interpretations. The instruments sound too plain and quiet and samey and just kind of wash together.
I'm definitely digging the use of the Sonic OVA song sprinkled within these tracks. It just adds to the boopin factor to these!
@Jt'sRoboBlast As much as it could be chalked up to it being a joke that the original miniboss theme sounds like it has a piece of Flying Battery, it feels more or less like it's a reference to Look-alike at this point.
Even if it's unintentional; like holy fuck that's amazing how he ended up unintentionally writing in one of the more iconic leitmotifs for Classic Sonic into his original by complete coincidence

That's definitely a blessing because one time I scientifically determined that Yousuke Yasui is VGM jazz so you've got good precedent

They are the soundchips that go in a Genesis (I think...)
they're chip names. the mega drive has two chips to play its music, the fm ym2612 chip and the psg sn76489 chip

my sources for said alt is mainly egg dragoon (sonic forces) and a little bit of inspiration from showtime with the mad gigglyman from srb! (the sage 2020 one)
so yeah maybe you can say that i got close to referencing srb2's boss theme"
