Actually crazy that you considered jumping from the elevator to another floor, that's called Duke Skip, and it was an important skip to learn for the speedrun for a long time, until wrong warping was fully exploited. I think they still do it in the All Bosses speedrun. It skips the forced death fight completely, with no downsides. To get around the railing rising up when you activate the elevator, you need to ride it to the top, send it back down and then quickly run back to the edge so you can jump onto the railing itself then jump from there, it's stupid precise but doable.
36:26 logan mentions that the crystal is the source of seath's immortality if you freed him. The hardest thing about this fight is getting the tailcut for the moonlight greatsword bc his tail is always clipping into the walls.
So basically Seath created those snake creatures, he also researched to create those tentacle things that came out when the music thing played. Seath uses the Grand Archives in order to experiment in order to give himself scales for immortality and created numerous abominations, I think it's something like that anyway
From what i recall those are gwynevere's priestesses, that's why they drop the miracles that can only be used when you are in her covenant. They got experimented on and turned out like that unfortunately.
Thanks for another great video! I saw a bunch of DS2 talk in the chat replay, so I'll get my two cents in. First, DS2 is a great game and has more in common with Elden Ring than any other souls game. Second, I do recommend The Scholar of the First Sin version which includes all the DLCs. Some say it has bloated enemy spam, those people just can't handle more than one enemy at a time. I would also recommend using the DS2LightingEngine mod if you are on PC. The mod is a work of art and it replaces the old lighting engine with a new one that has all the modern bells and whistles so you get full volumetric lighting and real shadows on all objects (actually better than what Elden Ring comes with out of the box). You can also get upscaled and revamped textures to go along with the lighting engine mod for even more pizzazz.
u shloud use wolfs ring or wear an armor with higher poise (boar helm u just got is good) if u wanna keep sweihander as main weapon, also consider a secondary weopen thats faster at swinwing and weihts less

Hey Bass I am absolutely enjoying this series. I've over 200 hours on Dark Souls and watching a new player's first experience is often very entertaining. On top of that, you have such good timing with your comedic edits that multiple times I've had to pause the video from laughing so hard. These edits are so good that if the sun hits them just right, they sing. I do, however, have one minor detraction. The roll you call "fat roll" is actually your Mid Roll. If you get above 50% of your total equip load you will Fat Roll. That's the major benefit of Havel's, better armor with a faster roll speed. Keep it up man, it's great. If you wanna keep calling it a fat roll, it's your gameplay, I simply thought you would want to call it by the commonly accepted term since you're enjoying the game so much :)
Good Job BassPlays! You have almost beaten the game. You have all the large boss souls to put inside the Lod Vessel beneath firelink shrine. GL to you when you meet Gwyn. He is the final skill threshold in the game. Don't forget to kill the woman who gave you the lord vessel so you can unlock dark Anor Londo and fight the boss at the bottom of the spinning staircase before the castle. Also, the painting in the Anor Londo church still hasn't been done yet. I recommend doing these two before beating the game.
It's a good thing cutting off his tail doesn't drop a weapon with S scaling in intelligence or something like that, that would be really awkward for sorcerers
Easy? That's why it took me like 20 tries for tail only and then another 20 to beat him with dragon tooth. I couldn't get behind him in time and he cursed me if I was infront of him...
I have been having so much fun watching this playthrough, basically every video I've watched on ds1 is from ppl that already know it all, front and back, inside out and outside in, but watching someone play ir for the first time is really fun cause I did wonder how someone playing pretty much blindly figured out stuff like seath's weakness or what the doll in the asylum's revisit is for

If you feel your stamina regeneration is slower, you're not (totally) crazy. It's because you get rid of your shield (the vegetal ecusson one). The only reason you don't want it 24/7 on your head is the annoying HP drain. But what you can do is equipping it right after you dealt the final blow to a boss. The souls gain only come few seconds after the "VICTORY ACHIEVED" message fade away, giving you plenty of time to equip both the mimic headgear and the ring (if you had it of course :3) for a wopping +44% souls (effect are multiplicative) ! That would have been 24k+ bonus souls for Seath. Instead of heavy attacking the air, next time try to back step + light attack. Should be similar enough but you might actually hit something !
broken pendant is used to get to the dlc near the lake with the hydra, however it's probably better for you to finish the main game first before going there
-That broken pendant is an item you need to access the DLC -That mimic helmet also increases the souls you get by 20%, and also significantly boosts item discovery by 200, making it more likely for you to get loot drops from enemies. The cost is that, it continuously drains your HP by 5 points per second. It's recommended if you found a bonfire near a nice farming spot with group of enemies that has good drops and souls payout (wear the helmet, kill all the enemies, return to bonfire, repeat) -You can actually cut Seath's tail (aim at the tip, no the base), which drops Moonlight greatsword, which is one of the best greatsword in the game, as it's lightweight, and significatly scales off it's damage from intelligence stat, making it possible to have broken spells and sorcery while still having a great melee damage, all from single stat instead of having to distribute souls between str/dex stat
Jesus Christ dude you have no idea how lucky you are to kill the Channelers in two hits, you will never know the pain of them teleporting away to wherever you can't reach them as they continue to shoot you until you move the staircases again and then fail to kill them again so they teleport a SECOND time...
This area is a lot easier with a bonk weapon. I usually use a claymore and it doesn’t have the bonk of the zweihander. If you are a mage you go here early for all the loot.
The only thing that's hard about this fight is to cut off his tail to get the iconic Moonlight Greatsword. Also, 34:29 you got lucky you didn't get cursed lmao 🤣
You need the pendant for the dlc, go back where the hydra after havel's tower was and hug the wall so you don't fall in the water, destroy the golden golem, reload the area and go back where the golem was and enter the vortex. BTW, two words: ARTORIAS SLAM-DUNK!!!
Currently still watching pendant you picked up is to access more DLC wont tell you how unless u want the info lol them magic guys dance buff near by enemy's and seen a previous comment the tail sword is one of the best wepons in the game mixes sword and magic lol 😆
Bro, what you may not know is that in DS1 you need to access the DLC before finishing the base game, otherwise you will finish the game and immediately go to NG+. To access the DLC, you need to go near the lake where you defeated the Hydra in the forest going to the left, reach the end, exit the game and find a golden crystal golem, defeat it, save the NPC inside it, talk to it until she teleports to the edge of the lake, becomes human, invokes her signal to talk to her, returns to the library, destroys the crystal golem at the beginning of the library, picks up the item that he will drop and finally go back to the end of the lake and see something different there (Bandai itself distributed a guide to access this DLC at the time of release). I'm not trying to give you spoilers or ruin your experience or anything like that. But you don't need to do a whole new run to access DLC. And you should already know that Fromsoftware knows how to make DLCs
My favorite thing (sarcastic) about FromSoft game design is how enemy bow/crossbow ranged attacks are the most potent form of damage in all of the games, but for players bows are the most pathetically weak and almost entirely non-viable weapons. Magic spells? Why yes, you can have totally broken ranged damage options. But bows? No, you're not allowed to do that kind of ranged damage, besides a few random combinations of weapons & ammo per game.
Bows do pretty alright damage-wise for the player. The issue in the first two games is finding timing to fire shots. You basically have the treat the bow like an ultra great sword with the timing (but with straight sword damage). DS3 and Elden ring give you access to much faster bow shots in the form of rolling attacks and weapon arts/ashes. I've done bow only in DS1 and it wasn't bad for the most part. Just grab the composite bow in New Lando at the start of the game and it'll work just fine. The only problem enemies are those with shield and you can just first person aim head shot them. I've not tried them much myself in Elden Ring but I've seen some clips of very respectable bow damage even late game.
@@NowaylarryThere's always some bow or bow/ammo combination that can be made viable if you're really dedicated, but bows are usually just not very good weapons compared to other kinds of weapons and are not remotely as powerful as enemy archers are even relative to player strength. Very few players seriously use bow builds except for novelty/challenge runs and a lot of the ppl who try give up in the early game bc it's so much easier to do anything else, with less setup, less expense, less farming, etc. In Elden Ring crossbows dont have any stat scaling, bow stat scaling is pathetically bad and some of the good ammo types are rare/limited drops or very expensive to purchase. The basic damage of anything up to and including greatbows is pretty bad relative to any other class of weapon and is only remotely viable if your character is built to do bow damage exclusively, but ppl will argue "if you use a serpent bow with only poison arrows", "if you use the repeating crossbow and rot ammo", "if you use the lion greatbow and only use the radahn's rain skill for damage" and like, yes, you can apply status effects and if you use one or two specific bows and bow-based skills you can do kind of respectable damage, but as a class of weapons it is substantially worse than every other class of weapon by design. They're more useful as tools for separating packs, cheesing particularly troublesome ranged enemies or applying status effects. You can do ranged damage with way more versatility/flexibility with spells, and you will have an easier time playing the game just bonking things with a melee weapon. These games are not really designed to accommodate archery as a playstyle and instead of trying to make bows more viable since the earlier games they've only doubled down on that over time.
Shame that you couldn't save Siegemeyer's daughter in the Archives😔I'm assuming you didn't find the golden crystal golem there since he died, but I'm not sure really.
he didn't, tho. as long as the crystal is intact, you can't damage seath. what happened here is that seath broke the crystal with one of his attacks, without bass noticing it.
The transition from Crystal Lizard to Seeth exit was so abrupt I can't imagine that was intended lol Loving your playthrough bass. I've been going through the Demon's Souls remake for the first time, and it's funny how our feelings parallel each other
Seath, being the first born of the age of fire was corrupted and warped by the power of life he was not alive but could be slain. The stone scales of immortality that made the ancient dragons more than a living beings were lost in the advent of fire as none of their descendents possess them, Seath seeing the end of his dynasty and having harbored resentment for his lack of scales; betrayed the dragons and told gwyn of the dragons weakness to lightning and taught the mere giant to throw bolts of the sun. Seath was granted the title of duke and given the royal archives to study his sorceries which became the basis for the modern soul conversation sorcery widely used in lordran. He however went mad, seeking to correct his flaws through science and sorcery he covered his body in new scales made of his crystal sorcery he had been developing and uses the life crystal stolen from his time with the dragons to pretend he is immortal like his kin. His madness culminated in an attempt at making an unholy crossbreed of man and dragon, a fair maiden the now psudo ruler of the painted world; a prison for the gods, keeping anything occult or unclean safely trapped inside. Seaths madness reaching the depths of kidnapping and experimentation of maidens and men alike from accross the lands to be turned into abominations like the snake men and pisaca, horrific amalgamations of man and beast, only not called demons and condemned to life underground because gwyn already had invested too much in Seath, sealing away his close battle compatriot Havel for conspiring to kill seath or potentially all the gods in a coup, likely for kidnapping his wife however it is said he never trusted Seath to begin with.
This probably got answered already, but the Seath fight where you saw 'need ring' is probably referring to the ring (or rare ring) of sacrifice, to protect your souls/humanity from Seath killing you there. Rare ring is really only needed if you have low/no curse resistance, but then again there's a free rare ring of sacrifice in Sen's Fortress anyway. There's a few across the game, great for one way trips (or scripted losses) where you might not have time to homeward bone or even quit out. Edit: Yeah I shoulda watched the whole thing before commenting XD. Didn't want to forget to comment before the queue takes me elsewhere.
3:20 headshot with ranged attacks do more damage to the player and most enemies and also auto-stagger regardless of poise. Only the first boar can be backstabbed, the other 2 has protection.
Seaths helth is instantly regenerated by the immortality crystal. But the damage that stuck i believe was tied to the damage that needs to be done to break his tail. Thats why you were able to hurt him
It could also be that Seath broke the crystal with one of his attacks. Baiting him to do that is actually the easiest way to get a window to go for the tail cut (he has a stagger animation when the crystal breaks). Otherwise it is arguably the most annoying tail cut to do in the game.
@Nowaylarry no arguments there. I had to redo seath Fight a few times because I was killing him more than damage to the tail. I'm actually curious to test it because the editing didn't give us the clearest answer
Those dancing casters buff the crystal guys that's why they do so much damage. I had trouble with them too. If you are human form, the curse build up is not as bad as hollow. And never let yourself feel defeated. We don't want to see you go hollow. hahhahhaha
You can cut off Seath's tail, but it's kinda tough with him being so big, his tentacle attack having crazy animation and the need to hit the very tip of the middle tentacle
The blue things are seaths experiments. Seath didnt have scales he researched how to live for ever he lost his mind getting what he wanted. The blue things i believe are women the two in the back crying are the ones that havent fully “turned”
@@Timboslice475 I totally missed it the first time around but by the time I was aware of it I simply restarted the fight if he was about to die and I hadn’t cut it yet. I was using the Black Knight Greataxe, chopping is its specialty XD
The archives got Avelin, a unique crossbow, but even people who know about it usually ignore it as it requires you to jump off of one of those spinning stairs mid spin and crossbows are kinda trash in this game either way. You can find it in DS2 though if you're thorough
watching your playthrough is making me realize that I as right when I thought that this particular game is only "hard" because of areas and mobs design to fuvk you because the bosses itselves are pretty easy specially compared to someone who played elden ring only everytime you died a lot was because of diffucult areas or bs mobs (looking at you wheel squeleton) because even when you encountered ornstein and smough you did first try which honestly is an accomplishment in itself
Bro said the game is only "hard" because area design and mobs are hard..... As though bosses being easier to beat than the general world makes the game "less hard"... Guess what genius, if the mobs and area design are difficult then the game is difficult point blank that's all
@@Ragna_rage I don't get why the agressive tone, but the feel you get from a game with hard bosses and a game with hard areas are completely different for person to person, at least for me, when ppl complain about how hard a game is, for example, ds1, they never say the game is only hard because anor londo is pain, blighttown is pain, they say oh, because capra is an annoying boss in a tiny area, oh because ons is overwhelming, oh because artorias is hard etc etc, that's most of the reason I said the game feels "hard" just because of areas, which aren't something that most ppl remember when talking about overall difficutly of a game like souls. to kinda ilustrate my pov, if ppl are being asked which is harder, elden ring or ds1, most ppl would probally say elden ring, but if asked which one has the most pain areas, some ppl (at least more than the previous question) would say ds1 has more painful/annoying areas which is kinda my point, most ppl dont consider a game with hard areas being overall hard if the bosses are easier then they expected.
10:58 exactly. You can use a ring, but it's still a forced death. Although some morons argue it's not as you can use a wonky as skip to avoid it and a bit of the area
@@tapiocajack3004 You can do that at the undead parish in dark souls one. You literally have to fight a boar To reach the Gargoyles And ring the first bell.
So, now that you've gotten past all the mimics in the base game, has anyone told you that you can use the Lloyd's talismans to open the mimcs without getting attacked?
Not only is that surprise fight with Seath a mandatory death, but his attacks curse you, meaning if you have low status resistance it essentially forces you to either waste the greater ring of sacrifice or waste a purging stone. It's brilliant game design
Have to say as someone who started with this game it’s very enjoyable watching you play it years later after playing Elden Ring which in my opinion is easier
@@BassPlays902 You are experiencing what us OG players went though back in 2011 lol the run back after losing to a boss was so aggravating but we still did it and played the game lol highly recommend playing all the souls games including bloodborne 👍🏻
Oh no this game isn't meant to make you feel defeated and stuff, at least that's what Miyazaki says. If you want a good game that wants to stomp you through the floor though you should play Nioh and Ninja Gaiden (I'd suggest Sigma 2)
The two boars in the Duke’s archives have armored butt plugs in thats why you cant back stab them like the one by the big gate
That is honestly the best way to put it
Commander Gaius : write that down, write that down
You didnt seem to notice but the mimic head was draining your life
But it also doubles your soul gain
It also increases item find

Yeah I am hitting up the DLC and the Painted world in the vid after this one👍
@@BassPlays902 great
@@BassPlays902 Wait! This means the next video will be the last?
@@josuenascimento1995 No I'll probably have two more videos after the Seath episode👍
@@BassPlays902 ok
You really don't need to wear the artorias ring anymore. It's only used for when you fight 4 kings.
3:21 that was a headshot, you can tell from the sound effect that plays when you got hit
@@darksungwyndolin8305 also I believe he was swinging so that would have added to it, so it would have been counter damage
I've never seen someone do ACTUAL damage to Seath before breaking the crystal. Wtf?
he didn't, tho. as long as the crystal is intact, you can't damage seath. what happened here is that seath broke the crystal with one of his attacks, without bass noticing it.
Bass- 28:57 "Oh, I am on something."
Me -Yeah, I knew that from the first video, but you still haven't told us what it is. 🙏😭
XD
The transition from Crystal Lizard to Seeth exit was so abrupt I can't imagine that was intended lol
Loving your playthrough bass. I've been going through the Demon's Souls remake for the first time, and it's funny how our feelings parallel each other
Yeah I apologize for that! Glad your enjoying the playthrough for the most part though! I need to get into Demon Souls soon!
@@BassPlays902It's... A game to experience hahaha
rip moonlight greatsword
Cool content bro.
Thank ya!
2:26 dear god ..... its jason Boar 🐗 😂
I love this series dude
Thank ya!
3:20 headshot with ranged attacks do more damage to the player and most enemies and also auto-stagger regardless of poise.
Only the first boar can be backstabbed, the other 2 has protection.
Well that and the Channeler gives his minions power powerful attacks.
@@TheSuperColonel I believe also he was swinging his weapon so it would have counted as counter damage too
Seaths helth is instantly regenerated by the immortality crystal.
@@stitches4714how about the dlc dragon tail tho? The most annoying to me at least. The battle itself is good tho so i don't really mind
The blue things i believe are women the two in the back crying are the ones that havent fully “turned”
it's time for dlc, bro :^
Magic is not cheat is only something new and speedrun
35:34 someone's a bit too excited 😏
Missed the most important tail cut in FromSoft history
Bro ive beaten this game like 8 times and I still have never gotten seath’s tail cut. I’ve given up at this point.
@@Timboslice475 I totally missed it the first time around but by the time I was aware of it I simply restarted the fight if he was about to die and I hadn’t cut it yet. I was using the Black Knight Greataxe, chopping is its specialty XD
Remember, upgrading your armor can save your life. Thats´s a thing you can do in DS1
Wearing solairs armor is definitely a faux pas in the souls community.
is it? I've never heard of that one before.
I think its time to use the black knight halberd, you have the titanite to upgrade it
DLC access acquired
11:25 yea... told ya
Amazing video as always 🔥
Thank ya!
The archives got Avelin, a unique crossbow, but even people who know about it usually ignore it as it requires you to jump off of one of those spinning stairs mid spin and crossbows are kinda trash in this game either way. You can find it in DS2 though if you're thorough
Did he make his zwei a raw?
You have become Inosuke, Master of Boars
Hit em w it
watching your playthrough is making me realize that I as right when I thought that this particular game is only "hard" because of areas and mobs design to fuvk you because the bosses itselves are pretty easy specially compared to someone who played elden ring only
everytime you died a lot was because of diffucult areas or bs mobs (looking at you wheel squeleton) because even when you encountered ornstein and smough you did first try which honestly is an accomplishment in itself
If you want to backstab a boar you can do it in bloodborne.
@@tapiocajack3004 You can do that at the undead parish in dark souls one. You literally have to fight a boar To reach the Gargoyles And ring the first bell.
But the bloodborne one is funnier.
Out of all the lords who is your favorite to fight? Or at least which one is the least annoying lol
I think I had most fun with Nito believe it or not just the annoying parts of it made it greatXD
@@BassPlays902 hUH?? That was hella unexpected, I thought it was Seath...
Dude it's been hours and I just can't stop watching your content keep it up
So, now that you've gotten past all the mimics in the base game, has anyone told you that you can use the Lloyd's talismans to open the mimcs without getting attacked?
You should really stop hitting the chests. No problems so far, but in the following games you're gonna have some
Not only is that surprise fight with Seath a mandatory death, but his attacks curse you, meaning if you have low status resistance it essentially forces you to either waste the greater ring of sacrifice or waste a purging stone. It's brilliant game design
Curse also makes you able to hit ghosts, and is able to save you using a consumable
Always cursed for hypermode
The fun part is about to start get ready for “you died”😂 I
Meanwhile the mage will die in their cell, books forever out of their reach.
Do you stream your playthrough ?
No I haven't started streaming yet! I would if I had more time from my job lol
Have to say as someone who started with this game it’s very enjoyable watching you play it years later after playing Elden Ring which in my opinion is easier
I'm happy your enjoying it! I think some things are easier and somethings aren't, but that's just what I think lol
@@BassPlays902 You are experiencing what us OG players went though back in 2011 lol the run back after losing to a boss was so aggravating but we still did it and played the game lol highly recommend playing all the souls games including bloodborne 👍🏻
the best souls game ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh no this game isn't meant to make you feel defeated and stuff, at least that's what Miyazaki says. If you want a good game that wants to stomp you through the floor though you should play Nioh and Ninja Gaiden (I'd suggest Sigma 2)
