I’m loving this playthrough man I love how you are acknowledging how fun the game can be while not hiding that some aspects are a little dated. Makes me happy to see people enjoying it instead of just “ds2 bad” for content
The embeded key u got from the frog- demon of song is a weapon and a key to the cage of the girl in the tower before the mirror knight fight. Also if u want to kill all of the bosses in this game u need to fight vendrik (atk him for like 3 min and ull strart the fight) and if u beat him before the final boss, u will unlock a secret final boss
A fun fact. The dude who dont like the lights mentions "the one who gave us the first death" This is referring to Nito, The First of the Dead from the first game
Oooh. The easy version of the Shrine of Amana. Those who didn't play this game on release before the first few patches have no idea how tough that segment was. Mages targeting you from across the screen. Mage magic turning almost 90 degrees around corners. Those lizard people could aggro from double the distance they do now. So much fun that was. I seriously miss how hard it used to be. What a shame so many "fans" felt it was too hard.
a recomendation: whenever you're being chased by a big crowd and need to cross a fog gate, use your alluring skulls in a nearby wall, they have an INSANE effective range and using them in walls prevents the enemies from "snapping out" of the alluring effect (it's actually pretty good to get out of any "angry mob" situation)
Yes the runbacks are horrible in the DLCs, but atleast the bosses are worth it! It seems he likes to use the summons, so the runbacks may not be as bad with them to help...
you need to go to iron keep and near the start of the zone, under a bull structure that throws fire is the iron key that opens the iron door near the last giants arena, in that zone there's the heavy iron key that lets you enter the iron king DLC
Forlorn weapons and armor can be bought from straid in lost Bastille. I think the more forlorn ladies you beat the more items he sells. Key to embedded is the key you got. It uh it's actually a sword. May we see your stats and rings? Join sunbros. The bonfire fella is Aldia. Thanks for the videos Duder.
I never comment but dude! I wanna game with you. Get so much enjoyment watching someone play my favorite souls game with no cheats or online help. Thats legend. Reminds me of earlier souls games I've played.
@@BassPlays902 have you ever considered doing a co-op souls stream? wherein you'll do a run through a game and the viewers would play alongside you (roughly, to keep soul level) and join as summons for areas
The door you couldn’t open behind the petrified guy requires you to be hollow to open it. and the key you got was actually a weapon, but you use it in drangleic castle to open the weird cage with the dude chained to it. These to places are related.
The key you got was the key to the cage back in the castle which contains the last of the singing women with the lovely voices. Free all, return to the first one in Shrine of Armana and get a reward. Also: That special key is actually listed under your weapons because it is also a sword which will break once you open the cage with it. :) Also also: kill poor Vendric before entering the final boss room. Missed out on that and got stuck without having the final bossfight. Very frustrating. Because there is no warning. Only NG+ to fix this.
Now it is definitely too soon to fight Vendrick (you'll see why later), but i recommend you kill him before the final boss so you get the option to choose a different ending (and another cool surprise)
I'm glad I finally caught up on the DS2 playlist! I have been watching them for 2 days straight while doing work from home...I just found your channel the other day and I'm really enjoying your videos! I watched a few of your DS1 videos, but then I noticed you had a DS2 playlist...I guess I will finish the DS1 videos and the Wukong videos while I wait for new DS2 vids to drop...
(Super minor spoilers if you care) I would recommend doing the DLC before the end of the game. I personally decided to do them after I got to the dragon zone. (you'll know it when you see it) but in the mean time you can go back to the areas that need to Kings Ring you got first and do all the stuff from that point to dragon land. Then do the DLC then come back and end the game. Of course that is just when I did it. It's your call at the end of the day. But that is my rough recommendation. Great video as always!
I thought Dragon Tooth was the ultimate bonk! I haven't played too many strength builds in DS2 though...I did do a ng+ playthrough with powerstanced smelter demon swords and it was amazing...I also did a playthrough with a mix of FUGS and the Crypt Blacksword which was fun also! I may have to try the Great Club next!
yes, you should kill king vendrick to free his poor soul and being able to speak with his past spirit when you grab the "required key item", but later on when you have at least 4 "soul required item" to actually have a fair chance to win. Right now if you feel lost you have to go east from the bonfire in the misty forest, the one that took you to drangleic castle.
Some tips abt king's ring, there're (maybe) 3 doors that open with that ring, but for now don't choose the one that in the castle, bcs you won't get anything there until you finish the other doors
I dont usually comment but take this tip or u gonna suffer. collect all 5 giant souls and dont use them. They will help basically make the fight easier. Or u will Be doing 30 damage per hit. Against vendrick. He has like 5000 health. But with 5 giant souls u will be doing 400 500 damage per hit
The "key" you got from the boss is a sword, and it goes to that cage up an elevator near the last bonfire of Drangleic Castle. I want to say this is my favorite point in the base game.
Niceee Hit em wit it! Nearing the end now Bass, are you going to do the DLC's? If so, they aren't necessary to complete before ending the main game content, DS2 doesn't force you into NG+ after the last boss. You can enter NG+ by choice from Majula after finishing. However, finishing the DLC's does open up some cool ass history and lore about Vendrick specifically. Whatever the case, do not enter the fog door at the "Throne of Want" before killing Vendrick. Ending him before the final boss opens up... let's say, conversations at the end. Next stop Aldia's pleasure palace. (through shaded woods)
Yeah, it's definitely a good idea to wait on fighting Vendrick himself. Despite the fact that he is Hollow now, he's still got high defenses and will kick your ass with the simplest attacks. If you want to be able to damage him, you just have to go obtain a special item from going through Aldia's Keep (the last doorway from the Shaded Woods bonfire, which you just need to use the ring of the King on it like the other door you found back in the Forest of Fallen Giants.) With that item you will be able to access special areas that will give you items to carry with you into the fight, making Vendrick more manageable. As for who that tree guy is that keeps popping out of bonfires, you may already have an answer to that question, but all will become clear by the end of the game if you haven't figured it out yet.
Can you belive that in scholar they made this area even worse? This and Iron Keep were absolutly packed with enemies. I think the devs were like "beacuse Dark Souls"
It's a stupid reason but there is a reason I'm the original Ds2 the enemies would just build up and all beat you up at the same time In scholar they fixed this but felt it made some areas too easy so they added a few extra enemies Spoiler only allowing 3 melee and 1-2 ranged enemies to attack the player at once is not nearly enough to fix this issue and adding extra enemies only made it worse They also added enemies to some areas with the goal of making co-op not nearly as easy as it has been in Ds1 Spoiler they could've just added extra enemies in co-op specifically but they didn't and now playing single player in certain zones is ridiculously difficult for no reason Like on the way to blue smelter demon
@@BassPlays902 he will be taking 1/16 of the damage now, and hits hard if you aggro him. As the guy above said -go explore the rest. And dlcs are better completed before the final boss. If you do, there would be an additional in-lore reason for not putting yourself on fire.
you may wanna be hollow to open the door that says hollow required ahead. if there would only be a way to go hollow. Spoiler: you go hollow when you die and your max health is reduced
I have decided on what ti "spoil" you with: things the game doesn't tell you. Have you tried power stancing? I don't know if you have so I'll explain it just in case. Have two weapons of the same type with the same moveset (you can go to the shade forest and stick left to find a severed head merchant that should sell you a second greatsword). You just need 1.5 times the strength requirement of the weapon to powerstance (hold the one-two hand switch button with them in each hand). The doors in amana. The one across the bridge you need to kill Vendrick and be in human form. The one in the broken tower you need to be in hollow form (die). You have the keysword for the caged girl in that tower. Now for actual comments. I love King Vendricks lore; a tragic king that gave up (but still spites the reason for his downfall). Amana is a gauntlet of crossfire, water worsening your rolls, and hidden items; I love it. And you faced enemies with my favorite weapon, the Blue Flame, the only sword that also casts spells (I have cheat days). :)
What do you not like about it? I have been playing with LE and the upscaled textures since it came out...I did revert a couple of the skyboxes that it changes, but imo it makes the game look amazing! It does make the use of a torch mandatory in a few areas which I can see being annoying to some people, but I didn't see anything that looked bad...
@@brucepreston3927 first and foremost it has this idiotic all pervasive fog, like the entire game got turned into shaded woods. It's super noticeable even in small interiors, which it makes look insanely dusty. I can't stand it. Also messes up how some if not most areas feel, but that's secondary.
