- A Colour Changing Octopus found at the lowest tide for 5 years. My younger son Dafydd and myself explore the shore in Pembrokeshire and discover some very interesting sea shore life that is nearly always submerged. This episode's filmed and edited by Dafydd.
"we will put the rock back now"
*CRUNCH*
he should be putting things beside the rocks and let them crawl back under, rather than dropping the rock on top of them lol
@@theapocilip nah they will be fine
XD ahahah came here to see if someone was thinking the same. It seems like he's killing them each time!
Gee he was like a bulldozer and it seemed many of the creatures would have been crushed as we could see they had moved. And not a quick death but the slow death of having a limb trapped or crushed. I remember doing this stuff as a little kid and being kinder and more careful.
😂

worm is not RIP. That species of worms live under rocks lol
that worm in fine, it was under there when her found the rock, also you can see that there is still space underneath it when he puts it back.
"This is very rare specie, we will put the rock back now"
*SPLASH CRUNCH DIE*

Haha

HAHAHAHAHA, you're da man.

I once was cleaning my spatula in the ocean on the coast of Baja, Mexico between Ensenada and Santa Rosalita and a bigger octopus grabbed onto the spatula, we played tug of war for a few minutes until he squirted ink at me and left. Was a memorable moment.
Eric Widder why were you cleaning your spatula IN THE OCEAN..??
@@eloise5129 I was on an island Kayaking, had to cook some food.
why you let her go. you had real squirter
You were cleaning ypur spatula in the ocean????
haha!
1:38 'you can probably eat them'
dog: *intensified hunger*
So much life under rocks. I feel like I just took a field trip to an
aquarium.
maybe we can find you there in the next life
And I feel like he just killed every animal he found 😂
....and smashed them all with rocks.
I agree he killed everything he saw and crush it with rock
14:07 evolution at its finest. 'Now for my escape plan!' **poots out ink** 'what's this thing in my way?' that'd be the shore
Wonder how many animals have been killed putting the stones back down 😂
I was going to say the same thing.
I wonder how many animals get killed on a windy day?
The crushed ones just become food for the others. One animal's bad day is another's jackpot.
Winterocalypse yup. Like being an ant under a shoe. But as a consolation.... you have to figure these things are fairly resistant to being crushed as the tide churns all those rocks around every day.
Winterocalypse ahahah
Honestly y'all need to put some respect on my boy Craig Evans name he's been doing this for decades and can't imagine all these people who are commenting negatively and disliking the video have even been to tide pools similar to this and know how they work.
"alright let's throw him back in the water " , throws the fish onto more rocks
Hiesenberg White lol true and the part when he dropped it, DEAD

@@StillSymbiotic Im dying here
And easy as can be with that 🐙
And the dog goes up to it, and they skip the rest.
Throws fish into water - Golden retriever retrieves it.
Well it's in his name, one can hardly blame him.
I saw he probably didn’t go get it back he went looked at it and it probably moved so the dog got scared a little bit.
Time stamp?

15:25 "Curse you, human, I shall have my revenge!"
I m dead.
Make sure you put the rocks back and squash everything
I seen this guy insist on putting back rocks right on top of the creatures he finds , squashing them...seems he is more of a detriment to the creatures he finds than if they were just left alone or maybe be more careful replacing the rocks.
reminds me of that simpsons episode when homer travelled back into time and landed in the dinosaur era, trying not to touch anything, he kills almost everything :D
squash alert at 7:01 !!!!!!!!
@@katarina2601 FATALITY!
@@teddy1174 There's a lot of life on the rock itself. If not replaced on the same place, on the same side, the sun and lack of water would destroy many things.
not many things are squished if any.
“Nice green worm. I’ll put it back now”
*smashes worm*
Worm was fine, regards Craig
Lol goes back to the same spot, sees worm blood
Poor worm
No worms were harmed during this video.
As an Australian I'm intruiged watching you get to do this. Down here we'd turn one rock over and every critter under there would have some way of killing us!
That's why I prefer cooler climates. Less shit to kill you 😂
Lyndon Jarman lol it’s so true that’s why whenever I go to the beach I don’t have the nerves to go near rocks oh and I’m Australian too
@@thekurgan3688it's not the temperature lol. NZ and Southern oz still have shit that wil kill you

Nothing like exploring nature with your dog. Thats a good life.
Another really good episode! I prefer the look and feel of these episodes over the highly polished episodes. Keep it real and keep it coming! Thanks for the effort you put into sharing your knowledge!

@@coastalforagingwithcraigev8447 hey craig im a younger fan and i want some advice from a professional like you, what some good easy seafoods in Indiana to cook.. To find etc, i like crabs and stuff also you gotta a new sub keep up the foraging information#
your pure reaction to the octopus made me so happy, gah!! i’m legit smiling.
I’ve never laughed so hard after reading these comments below and above about “putting rocks back” and killing everything under them or injuring them 😂🤣🤣🤣
... you’e sick..
It wont kill the sea creatures, dont worry guys. They are used to the pressure and shit
They are hilarious lol
Jack Burton you’re an idiot if you don’t understand he is just disturbing the natural habitat. He is NOT foraging. Period.
@@nalinir5092 they live in the f-ing ocean... what safe habitat are you talking about? 😂 And Craig shows and teaches more respect for sea-life than pretty much most of the world. You're probably throwing plastic into the ocean without a care

THAT OCTOPUS IS AMAZING!! AND THAT DOG IS ABSOLUTELY ADORABLE!! GOLDEN RETRIEVERS ARE THEE BEST HUMAN COMPANIONS EVER!!! SO LOVABLE, SMART, AND CARING!
Stop hating on him I'm sure he knows what he's doing, animals have protection for predatorial reasons
Im cringing at him crushing every creature he shows us.
Nyla Johnson They’re used to living under rocks. Think about how a mouse can fit under an extremely small hole by simply being adapted for it. It’s not different with sea creatures, they do not get ‘crushed’.
@@farrtlek nah . Wish it was like this . I live in Sicily by the sea and I can assure you 100% they got squished . 5:25 that urkin got squished and they edited to cancel that part lol RIP
I thought it was worse when he tried to throw the fish back into the water but dropped it the first time then threw it in the water when the tide pulled back so that it once again was just thrown on the ground
@@farrtlek it is not the same, crawling under a stationary rock vs having i dropped with pressure over some of your legs. Wtf people? This dude does crush some animals he put sunder those rocks I'm sorry to be telling you. Not all of course but he isn't being careful at all. Please book a trip to the seaside and do that yourselves see how many things you crush. TY
@Corvid Cares finally someone posting an informed rebuttal to all these snowflake comments

Killed more like half of everything he disturbed by crushing em

What an absolutely fantastic and fascinating film, thank you for making it!
I had no idea that Wales had that variety of sea life on its shores.
You mentioned that it was the lowest tide for five years, how come, I thought tides were cyclical, and biannually you had the highest and lowest.
If you read this I’d love to hear why!
Hope that you have survived 2020 and all it’s challenges!
Tides can be predicted for many years in advance , however many events effect the height etc. an onshore wind will keep the tide in while an offshore wind will send it out further and for longer . High air pressure will press down on the sea and keep it out further and for longer, conversely low air pressure will cause the sea to rise up towards it and it will not go out so far. The coastal forager likes high pressure and an offshore wind ( not asking for much LOL), regards Craig
How brilliant. Keep up the good work! Love these videos Craig you are brill!
Sea Creatures: Finally some rest
Human: Im about to end this mans whole career

Tip. If you roll over rocks on beaches DO NOT put them back because you WILL crush everything under that rock
There's a lot of life on the rock itself. If not replaced on the same place, on the same side, the sun and lack of water would destroy many things, and goes up the food ladder.
not many things are squished if any.
So my tip, having done some of those fishing. Do the exact contrary of what you said. :/
