Hi stu , good video as always and top class work as well , not the best weather for us bricklayers at the moment 😭, keep up the good videos and work 🧱👍
Great team work there Stu , good old lovely weather, I put double , sometimes triple glazing on the old bonds to keep warm in my freezing garage , double gloves , great idea from Jang, he loves his fish 🐠🐠🐠🐠 n chips 😂😂👍💪
Enjoyed watching the video, and that's some nice clean work. (being a carpenter, if anyone says I've been complimenting bricklayers, I'll just deny it).😜 Cheers.
How do you judge the gaps between the bricks, and match the spacing of the blocks to the brick? Is there a formula for working out how long a wall should be to use whole blocks and bricks. Love the skill shown, the attention to detail. I would live to build my own extension, can do everything else but not done foundations or wall building. Will do though😎😎
I noticed two Rose trowels in the video best trail made made in the US of a one of the main trails us bricklayers used I've been using one for 20 years
Stu are you using the cork handle wrose trowel? How do you find it? I have the leather and the grey durasoft style handle but am contemplating getting a cork one to try out?
Work hard and starve trowels, W H S took some beating for cutting bricks. You can't tap the bricks with the handle because of metal washer would mark the bricks.
Looking for some opinions. Just bought a house, garden wall is 4 inch block work, 8 ft high, has no footings. The block work actually starts on mud at ground level. It's out of plumb by 40mm and clearly leaning. I'm thinking of underpinning it and trying to plumb it up using a few posts pulling the wall plumb with ratchets while underpinning when formwork is poured. Anyone else had any experience with this?
Seeing the tongue on your boots stick out like that gives me flashbacks to concrete demo days when i'd be emptying my boots every 30 minutes from little rocks that somehow came through the lace holes. You must be lugging around a pound of mortar/sand in there by days end hahaha. Hi from NYC, love your vids, and your crew.
Sir , please don't mind , if I will very fast and clean brick work compare your work , so can you give me a chance to work with you, I have 20 yrs experience india, and dubai,
@@Stucrompton1 used to loop a foot of line on as well never blows off or drops when up on the scaffold lifts but not in the UK any more and i used to teach brickwork at Reading college 58 now but still keep a eye on the trade....
I dont’t understand why you ( english bricklayers) use this big trowels, in my opinion you can be more precision with smallest trowels. Sorry for my bad english, i’m french bricklayer
Hearing you sniffle away in the cold and wet makes me glad I'm a sparks.

thoughts on adding sbr to mortar to enhance strength and water resistance? I'm thinking specifically for a retaining wall.
How these builders tolerate the outside conditions I will probably never understand, respect

Usually the plans take into account the bricks, if not, cut one and continue on.
Feel for you and the lads Stu working in these conditions. But as usual a pro job👍👍👍

W.Rose narrow London trowel. Once you use one you’ll never go back
Been using one 12" for the past 2 years. My wrist never felt so good 👍
Now that’s how walls should be built, 8 inch block and 4 inch of brick.
I really love your skill .
Браво Мр Кромптон!
So how many rows do you go up before the weight of the bricks becomes too much for the uncured mortar?
watching Stu’s brickwork is how i meditate
Where are you from ?
Hi Stu, nice work, what do you fill those retaining wall blocks with, concrete?

Bit of a tip for Jang, put some thin rubber gloves on first and then two layers of gloves on top, it stopes the wind getting to your hands.
