My immediate reaction to that torso bend was and I quote.
“Holy shit”
So are we gonna get a battle of the hg's when the global comes out . G40 vs origin vs revive vs global with rankings
Beyond Global looks just less as weird as the G40. Undoubtedly, the Origin is the RX-78-2 that fans of the Origin line have waited for far too long and it would win in a landslide
The origin is basically a more modern interpretation of the classic Rx 78-2 design. The Revive is more closer to the animation design. The G40 have alot of great articultion and its design is more up to the person. The Beyond global id basically a 3.0 of the revive in my opinion.
Another thing I would like to mention about the Origin RX 78-2. The was extension does not only allow for a front and back crunch. It can also do some side to side on the waist. Just like the MG Origin's waist.
Fun fact: if you don't like that greenish-white that the Revive sports, then you can apply flat coat in it. Did it with my Revive Granddaddy and my HGBF GM/GM, and it became all white with no traces of green in them.
How many layers of top coat did you use? Your GM/GM turned white too? That’s not normal

So revive is for classic type, origin for modern type
Why not get both? Its like android and phones, they both have something that the other does not.

Same sentiments. The Origin version is a great HG (and my current favorite), but the Revive fills a significant role for builders. Satisfying out-of-box but also ideal for practicing customization techniques due to its relative affordability and simplicity.
The fact is that for this role now there is the entry grade that is the cheapest rx-78 (not considering the FG that is a relic from the past for nostalgic modellers)
The recent EG hasn't been released yet at the time of the comment. Fair point, though.
Personally, I'd still take the Revive for detailing work like scribing or pla-plating. The EG I'd use if I want to practice mods for increasing articulation or similar. :)
I have the Revive and yeah I'm impressed by a lot of the features on the Origin but you know, it feels a little over designed. Definitely appreciate how simple and clean my Revive is but that being said, I have an Origin Zaku that's getting pretty lonely right about now.

HG Origin RX 78-2 is the best HG.,
One should never be a replacement for the other simply because they are two distinct and different gundams altogether. Very similar with similar looking timelines but do note that these two are only as similar to each other as the gundam from thunderbolt is to them.
Does anyone relise that the uniqlo rx-78-2's fist is matched right to the o on the origin box?
Another thing that's funny about the origin design is how round its head is compared to the boxiness of the body.Its like two people designed the head and body separately.But overall i do like the origin design lol
I realize this is a couple years old now, but.. that green color is actually the original Gundam's color. If you were to look at animation cels, the RX-78 is painted in that slight minty color. It just appears white in animation because of production limitations at the time.
dont forget theres a G30 kit that looks like revive but with less articulations
you know it always bothered me how many gunpla fans are fine with the blast visor being held at head hight, I think the origin is the only one that did it right. I mean think about it you would want to bend your elbows at 90 degrees then move your arm towards the midline of your body, this will position the bottom of the shield to be where your head currently is. To have the blast visor located at the top would mean now your stomach has a clear view of of the enemy....

i think if bandai were to make a kit pretty much exactly like this, just make it with the revive's accessories and looks, it would be really cool
Ok now we need a review of the G30th RX-78-2 to complete the HG grandaddy collection.
That torso bend is likely to facilitate his sitting up pose when he fired his vulcans from the first episode before he got up.
I hope we get a continuation of The Origin anime that adapts the rest of the manga/remakes the OG anime.
That is literally one of my biggest wants from bandai. Just give us the rest of the anime, please!
HGUC Moon Gundam Left the group
We need an Amakusa HG non p Bandai kit as we need Amuro's Jupiter Gundam( read Crossbone Gundam Skullheart).
For me a very very important peoce of a Gundam collection is an RX 78-2 cuz, grandaddy And well I think Ill wait for the other one before I'll buy one

The Origin is the best rx-78 in 1/144 scale
Yes the RG is more detailed and has the core fighter but it's the first RG kit ever and has it's faults (it's really fragile)
Until we get a RG 2.0 the HGGTO is the ideal kit to build in 1/144
I own 3 and i built them in early type, middle type and 0079 type too selecting smartphone the pieces to use and getting a correct looking beam rifle from HGUC 30th you can find in gunpla starter set vol. 2
The 30th rx-78 i will convert into a Rx-78-1 (the other prototype that was destroyed by zakus in the first episode of MSG0079)
I this way i have 3 different loadouts of the same machine and not 3 different ones
The RX-78-1 being a different machine can show different details
The head Vulcans are supposed to be yellow
Pretty sure the RX-78-2 had both a white and a solid gray bazooka

The origin beats out all other HG RX-78-2s it’s boxy looking because it’s a early federation OYW machine, and the head Vulcans were always yellow or gold.
Revive is still worth to get especially with Tem Rey Original design weapons (hammer&/javelin).
There's a Revive with the hammer and javelin?

You forgot to compare their prices.
The Revive Version is 1000 yen, while the Origin Version is 2530 yen.
One is incredibly wallet-friendly and a great beginner's Gunpla, while the other is rather on the expensive side and is more catered to experienced builders.
The vulcans are indeed supposed to be yellow, even in the original anime. Any kit/figure with grey vulcans is incorrect.
They're both good kits but for the original Gundam I prefer the cleaner look of the Revive. I find the panel lines of the Origin one to be kind of ugly. A lot of the Origin line kits have incredible articulation for High Grades.
Can someone link or tell me the differences between the Mg Barbatos, Full Mechanics Barbatos, and the NG 1/100 Barbatos?
The main difference between the FM and the MG is really just complexity. The FM is a bit closer to a 1/100 HG with simpler engineering. Aside from marketing, the reason it's not a 1/100 HG is because it has a (fairly simple) full inner frame. The MG has more complicated engineering to incorporate the gimmicks that you expect from an MG (moving armor, extra articulation, color separation, etc). The FM is cool, but mine had loose joints and the plastic looked a bit cheap, so the only reason you'd go for that one over the MG is that it's cheaper. I haven't built the MG yet but it's getting glowing reviews.
As far as I know, there isn't a separate NG 1/100, unless you are talking about the High Resolution model, which is a completely different animal. It has a pre-built inner frame and you just build the outer armor. It's more like a high quality action figure than a model kit. It's also stupid expensive for what it is and, being the first of it's kind, is apparently very flimsy and doesn't age well sitting on the shelf. I'd recommend wanting some reviews to learn more.
Basically you want the MG if you can afford it, but the FM is okay too.
@@ASpooneyBard I was just wondering as the base 1/100 Barbatos doesn't have the FM name on it but all the other variations in 1/100 have the FM name on it
The FM name not being on the season 1 kits doesn't really mean a whole lot. The name was added for the season 2 kits because Bandai decided that the line should have a name to prevent confusion (NG is a fan nickname, bandai has never actually called their kits that).
I don't know but i really like the revive. Hahaha

The minty green white on the revive is the same color the original Gundam model came in 40 years ago.
I wish the origin came in that warmer tone that the MG came in, the bright white is too vibrant

RX 78 revive is also redesign if you compare it to original concept art the RX 78 supposed to be bullkier not slim like revive, revive is modern iteration

Aside from its color choice i love its edgy over the top redesign and prefer that design over the og and origin line design

This is what I wanted to hear. The outlandish prices for the revive have driven my interest away from collecting these kits.
But the price of origin is twice more expensive than the revive

So how many of the same design (looks and body shape) do you need? The differences are small and it’s all about articulation and color -_- and that’s my opinion sorry if you like buying the same damn f ing gundam over and over and over again with different sizes

you are comparing a 2015 kit to a 2020 kit? how about apples to apples when the global version releases. Your comparison of the revive and Origin is like comparing the Uniqlo special edition to the revive lol.
Not a word about the price difference. Really I don't see any reason to bother with the Origin kit when I already have the Revive, it's already not as cosmetically pleasing to me so there's just not nearly enough drawing me to pay double the price of the revive to offset my disdain with how it looks.
