Christopher Nolan every movie Has something there. Today I got to know that in the end when they reveal Batman Statue on the Dark Knight rises , everyone is sitting in clown face position in tribute to Heath Ledger's Joker.
Towards the end of this dream it felt exactly like when you start listening to a song in your dream and when you suddenly wake up you realize it's your alarm song ringing in reality.
This is more incredible when you see objects in your dream created and synchronized by real world noises like your family, your pet, the neighbors, the tv or the city traffic. In my case this may seems crazy but for a mysterious reason, I create a particular object just before the linked sound goes. It's weird of an experience. My theory is that the real life noises heard during a dream are delayed like 2secs in the past to let the brain compile something sensed to our dream although it already happened 2secs before.
@Madchoko 1:57 At time stamp 1:58 the cafes’ awning says the name “cafe DEBUSSY”. Would Nolan change the name? Googling the cafes’ name & locationcould lead to your answer. This guys’ comment was 6 years ago, he’s probably not going to ever answer. Good luck in your search dude

This was an incredible movie from Chris Nolan after the Dark Knight was such a success. It was a brave move from Nolan to direct a movie that had to be followed closey as it had a tricky theme. Invading other peoples dreams and stealing information. He needed the right kind of guy to play the lead and Di Caprio was spot on yet again. Talking to Ellen Page at the café hes explaining to her and the audience how this works. Dreams feel real while we imagine them asleep and its only when we wake that we realise it was not real. Its true enough too that we do not remember the start of a dream. You have dreamt something up but you are not there at the start. Only the middle and end. This scene was important to the movie as it gave the audience an explanation into how Inception worked. But it was worth watching the movie twice as it was tricky to follow at times. But the effects were unbelievable!
Inception was a great movie I thought. The only flaw was that it did have a tricky storyline. Stealing information from peoples dreams. It was a movie that was visually brilliant but you did need to watch it a few times to make sure you understood it.
the drum beat mimicking a heartbeat for the first half of the clip is sheer brilliance the amount of detail that was layered into the production of this movie is insane
There is so much ideas (mostly innovative and emerging ones) packed into a 3 minute sequence that you wouldn't know what to focus on, I guess a fitting commentary that truly brings justice to such craftmanship is that 'Every act of creation is first an act of destruction.'
Well, MOST of this scene wasn't CGI. They did use computer graphics to combine and enhance various exploding elements during this sequence. Note how the explosions each start fast and then switch to slow motion - if it were based purely on the physical footage, all the explosions would speed up and slow down at the same rate all at once.
It was The Dark Knight that made Christopher Nolan a household name, but it was Inception that proved his name alone was a selling point, and that audiences weren’t just fans of Batman and the Joker, but Nolan himself. Inception was an invitation to the filmmaker and to audiences that said (to quote Tom Hardy’s Eames), “You musn’t be afraid to dream a little bigger, darling.” An ambitious sci-fi project with an all-star cast featuring Leonardo DiCaprio, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Hardy, Ellen Page, Cillian Murphy, Marion Cotillard, Ken Watanabe and Michael Caine, Inception blended heady concepts with crowd-pleasing blockbuster elements. It’s a cinematic union that Nolan has become known for in his efforts to create high-brow, yet audience friendly, spectacle.
For a dream standpoint or from a lucid dreamer's perspective it's not really much of a mind blow but more of that you got aware that the place you're in is a dream When you start realizing that you're in a dream you're conscious mind starts taking over and when it does it breaks your lucid state, therefore making your dream disappear and in this case it appeared as if the cafe started literally breaking apart
Considering I have been gaming since I was 3 1/2, it isn't so hard for me to start lucid dreaming, it just hits me sometimes unexpectedly, it usually happens about 4-5 times a year.
Brother Panic asked a Question while breaking down this movie. He asked "Do you remember being born? Or do you just remember only a couple of years later after being born?" It blew my mind because in the movie Lucy, she started remembering being born. How the milk tasted and the room she was in looked like.
Fun Fact: According to the studies of neurology, the moment of realization that you have between a dream and being awake is the equivalent of when you exit a building into outside. So, there's a current theory that coma patients are just "not able to find the front door"
To think that a lot of people believe lucid dreams and controlling them is just a movies thing while it's very possible and many of us do it is incomprehensible
You know you can do this stuff right...just a lot more complicated, you really have to practice,y you have to meet your dream guide, and you'll see it through your eyes, basically if your dream partner sees a black cloud of smoke, you may see a black blob. But it is possible, just takes some practice
Military developed this thing? Sheesh, someone probably used for totu....sorry advanced interrogation purposes. As long as you don't die, you can still feel excruciating amounts of pain.
But in reality that makes no sense. In the real world that gives you the ABILITY to do whatever the fuck you want in your dream. This scene rocks ass, but I think her doing all the "collapsing" crap for hours just because she CAN would be so much more fun.
