are those watercolor pencils or normal colored pencils?

Likely normal but probably something like prismacolors (colored pencils with softer led)

When i do this with the heat gun it ends up looking wrinkly and warped, any tips for this not to happen

you can also bake it in the oven

Yup, one of those little toaster ovens, it’s so much easier, I never got a good result from heat gun.
