What a beautiful moment to record and post here. The levels of tenderness and beauty between these people are astonishing. Easily one of the great songs of the last half century. And that Ben gave it to his idols to sing...just near perfection. :)

This evokes childhood memories watching the hilarious Monkeys on TV, when I first heard this iwas confused and thought it was an older song, absolute gem, thanks to Ben for donating it to the lads.
What a class act Peter was. Modest and humble.

Those low harmonies aren’t an easy thing to to sing and after and while having cancer treatment! How amazing!!

Micky still sounds like he's 21. I love it, but missing Mike and Peter's passing has really hurt. When George Harrison died, I don't think it hit me as hard as Peter's death. I'm a musician too. I just feel like The Monkees never got their due and never will.
Why wasn't Mike at this show?
@@robertsmithers9059 Probably due to other commitments. Not the first time he'd failed to join his old bandmates.
+wayback playback - I wish I had your faith. But I know that Micky's voice has aged since he was 21. He still sounds quite impressive. But I think it would be dishonest if I were to say that he still sounds 21.

Although the Rock and Roll Hall of Game is considered a sham by some.. The Monkees should be in it. My concern is it will be done posthumously. It’s interesting the effect George Harrison had on you, because it did the same to me . I was sad by the passing of Peter Tork and Davy Jones…. When Mike died it hit me like it did George Harrison…. I will never forget seeing The Monkees for the first time in 1986 on MTV , they are always in my heart .
Ben Gibbard must have only been 10 yrs old when he wrote it!! Amazing feat for such a young person. (For any person, really. Writing a song is NOT EASY!!!)
