I want to dedicate this to a Magdalena I know, the love of my life who I can feel starting to slip away. I want to leave this comment as a sort of fingerprint touching something that may somehow reverberate through time.
I was never a big Monkees fan,but this song is amazing. I can listen to it over and over again. Much deeper than most of their poppy hits of 30-40 years ago.Not usual to put out such a great song late in a career
Something about this ethereal tune grabs me and brings tears to my eyes every time!!! This is my absolute favorite song by these talented artists, and this rendition is poignant, and innocent!!! RIP DAVY, MIKE AND PETER!!!
This song... I admit, surprised me. The voice of my "favorite" Monkeee, through the ages...in 2016...the year my 2nd daughter was born. Everything lost will be recovered... Wow, the lyrics that follow are too intricately descriptive of my life to be ignored. Still in my West Allian, Stallitocian canyon, but I do get care packages! This song, this whole album, is BALM for 'the pain of living' as Ginsberg put it. Thank you Monkees, for sweetening my life. I love you forever. No pressure, Micky! You're just simply never allowed... ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Makes me long for the feeling of being so perfectly in love I wonder if I’ll ever have that feeling again Maybe when I cross over But hopefully one more soul mate will come through my door Been too long
Must admit this somehow escaped me , I heard it getting played on a radio station a couple of weeks ago .Never thought for a moment it was the monkees , thought it was some new release .pleasantly surprised lovely song
I just can't get over this song. It so perfectly gives me the feeling of loving and of being love in return, and brings back so many happy memories. And just then at the end, it promises new ones to come. And the video is a perfect compliment. Thank you... can I have a tissue too?
So very beautiful....tender. Whistful and innocent...I remember. Anyone in 2019? Thank you for posting this.. I only found it a few months ago. Can't stop listening to it. Peter died a few weeks ago. I cried. God Bless and much love to all.....
Whoever got Benjamin Gibbard and the Monkees to team up on this is a genius. His lyrics and their vocals could not have been a better pairing. Beautiful song. 🙌
Great song. I heard this on spotify and had to check to see who it was and thought "The Monkees, no can't be, way too mature" then realized it's a new release.
I caught this song on spotify on the overnight playing while i sleep i woke up a couple nights in the middle of the night and this song was played while i was trying to go back to sleep what is that song i told myself and i checked it out i am stunned at the monkeys doing this. I must have played this like 50 times in the last month i don't know what's going on but the very excellent tune. Highland picked it up on my guitar so i can play it when i don't want to watch it on here
My favorite song - both versions (maybe a slight edge to version 2) on the new CD. It's rare when a "classic" artist makes a new album worth listening to like, well, a new album. This is one of those. Mike and Micky's duets (both versions) are exquisite. Thanks, guys! (PS - I just read Mike's new book, "Infinite Tuesday." Get it - it's quite unlike most autobiographies you'll encounter.
Wonderful. I think I prefer the other version where Micky harmonizes by going up while Nesmith goes down. One thing that this and other "Good Times" songs shows is that whatever critics and the RnR hall of fame say about the Monkees, their fellow musicians respect them. You don't write songs like this one, or "Birth of an Accidental Hipster" for colleagues you don't esteem.
Oregano There are loads of good songs. Have you listened to any of Mike's solo work? He has at least 9 or 10 cds with songs like Silver Moon, Joanne, Wax Minute (incredible singing from him) and more. I think they are all his compositions if I'm not mistaken. Peter also has a wonderful cd called Stranger Things Have Happened. Just like Peter, it's a bit off the beaten track (alternative?), but there's not a song on there I don't love. I listen to their music all the time. They have big boots to fill. You won't know until you really get into their music. I hope you find something you like.
From their old original music, girl that I knew somewhere, sometime in the morning, Last Train to Clarksville is about a young man getting ready to ship out to Vietnam. There are so many if you really listen to their music. I grew up in a very dysfunctional home, an abusive home, I was so glad when I was sent to my room. Their music saved me.
Thank you! i'm happy you liked it! There is a fast version of the song. Anyone who purchased the download album deluxe version from iTunes received it as a bonus track. I did a video using that version, prior to doing this one. It also has scenes from The Monkees In Paris. ua-cam.com/video/tQgjeMibOhM/v-deo.html

This song came up on some streaming app and I was gobsmacked and instantly obsessed.

How beautiful and overlooked this rare played song is.....
This song makes me tear up thinking about a simpler time when me and my parents were young.
Amen brother

I wonder if Micky ever looks at these videos and just gets lost in the memories ?
Good sweet grief ! What a piece of beauty this is !! Simple delights will outlast any trial ! This is the proof.
Listened several times. Beautiful.

Makes me wanna fall in love again! But first i need to have my Magdalena 💔
Yep. This is a truly beautiful song and performance.
I've never heard of this song before but I found the video especially charming!
It was origionally a Deathcab For Cutie song ❤
I love all versions of this song ! Ive heard Micky Peter sing it and Mike and MIcky sing it and Micky by himself on You Tube !

Oh my God I want to go back to the sixties ..
There are times I wish we could go back, too!

And a touching video. It made me smile more than I usually do.
Thanks Ben Gibbard for writing this beautiful masterpiece 💚

Just read about this song and album, funny enough it was Adam Schlesinger from Fountains of Wayne that bought them together.
Great song. I heard this on spotify and had to check to see who it was and thought "The Monkees, no can't be, way too mature" then realized it's a new release.
Nostalgic beauty from a modern song
Gorgeous.❤
Incredible. God that album was so damn good.
SO BEAUTIFUL!
I just love this song !!!

Beautiful Song. it deserves many more views.
"Me and Magdalena" is my favorite song from the album. Nice job.
Thank you.
Outtakes from their movie “Head”?
Wonderful song
Good to see Davy once again
I love this song. It's perfect.
Great song, it could have been made last week!

I recently purchased Mike's Autobio. I haven't had a chnace to read it yet, but I am looking forward to it. =)
Love the song, read the Nez book...
A thing of beauty ❤️
Take me back to the 60's 😑
It could - easily - have been a modern-day Pixies number. It's mesmeric in all respects - a song to fall in love with.
What a sweet video to a great song
So sweet, how love is portrayed here 😊

Beautiful video for the song. Thank you, Fuzzy R.
Peter 😍 😢
fucking outstanding
Bravo!
Well done!!!
Thank you.
You did a wonderful job with this Fuzzy!
Thank you! =)
Beatles❤Girl love it
ALL OF THEM WERE SOOOO CUTE!!!! Could Davy be anymore dreamer 2:35????
when we preached love.... now its all hate, ironic that we thought we would make it better for our kids future, and its all turned sour
We thought that we changed the world to love and peace
Is anyone hearing a Mojave 3 vibe on this song? Very Neil Halstead/Rachel melody.
Recently discovered this beautiful song, and congratulations on the fantastic video you provided. Could you say who the four girls were please?
The four girls were French models hired to play their girlfriends
q sonzera !!!!
The only Monkees song I've heard that I like. Is there anything similar?
Shades of grey?

There's a fast version? Great job of mixing the old vid with the new. Best song on the album.

absolutely wonderous song..can't praise it enough. But the video is inappropriate for the song.
What video should have been used? It's a slow melodic song, and with some of the Paris segments, none of the other ones worked.
