Thank you for this interest video Matti, a question that I struggle with is whether I'm too late to venture into film-making, perhaps a subject for another day? I'm sure a lot of us thinking about making the switch would love to hear your take on this question.
The part inspires me because I've learnt everything I know about film and photography from church. Still doing it for church and to put food on the table!
I’m not surprised to find out you have a strong connection to church and Christianity - you and your brother both have a strong testimony just through your personalities. Don’t be afraid to speak more about it. I love it. And the daily vlogs are awesome and very inspiring - making daily great again! Thanks for all you do Matti 👊🏻
"i was 23 when I made my first video ever!" I wish I started at 23..but we had tape based camcorders at the time... I finally started doing videos last year at 48....never too old to start....
Thats dope Matti. I have an associates in theology and my wife and i were youth pastors for 12 years. I do safety videos and other miscellaneous videos for a cable company i work for in Arizona... Im that opportunity for the experience to enhance my video/editing skills. Now for the past year, ive been trying to venture out in the youtube world... Thanks for sharing your story dude.
Love hearing your story. I have been in Youth Min for about 9 years now, off and on, and now I work at an ad agency doing video work and design work. Your story really resonated with me.
I own a Hyundai Tucson, my local dealership could not be more caring and helpful. They clean my car every service, and it is always ready before the promised time. You need to come to the UK 😊
Man i love your story I am a media guy at my church I make all the videos and media content and I also have my side bussiness making weddings and photography You inspire me more in this video because we have similar stories haha i also was a youth pastor for a year and a half :D
I bought my first camera last year June, 2018. I was 22. I did random freelance work for a few months and then I got hired somewhere as a Video Editor. I’ve been doing freelance for the past year now and have been a full-time editor for 7 months. Everyday I’m literally learning how to do things in Pr and Ae on a daily basis. I dropped out of college 5 classes in and have never had any video experience prior. I’m pursuing UA-cam next!!
Maaaan that was inspiring Matti! I got me a Philosophy bachelor too when i did time in a seminary, but filmmakimg has always been my #1 passion. Great to see a lot of love here for theology in the comments section. Amen! Keep it up Matti, may God be with you and all that you do!
Can’t say how much I love your daily vlogging. I didn’t watch your channel as much before and I now I’m hooked. Love the daily inspiration, down to earth advice, and just a look into your daily life and thoughts. Keep up the amazing work!!
Such an inspiration. I grew up and went to bible college too. Dropped out and graduated with high honors years later. Definitely starting the wedding route too. Really look up to you guys, you, Peter and Casey. Blazing the way for others.
Great video Matti! This is super inspiring and I’ve been a fan for a while now. I really wanna throw myself into this sort of lifestyle and put my art out there.
Very encouraging video! Thank you! I actually see som similarities in my own experience for sure. I currently spend all day watching you, Peter, your brother, and some other filmmakers while I sit at a laptop designing electrical systems for a union contractor. I love my regular job, but being able to learn more about my newfound passion (film) while I make money here is the best benefit I could ask for! Keep up the awesome content!
Your story is similar to mine. Loved the sciences in high school. Tried engineering in college. Somehow ended up in filmmaking. It’s been a great ride! Thanks for the tips and sharing your story.
"suddenly you've got a 15 minuet video, gonna keep this one short" (video length is 14:48) 😂 Edit: Matti has been a big inspiration to my channel and the way I film, hate to do this in the comments but just take a couple seconds to check out my channel! Thanks for the likes too!!!!
It's funny how life plays out! It take's a few uncertain decisions to get to the right ones. Making a living in video isn't all that hard, it's more about can it be something you enjoy long term and are you willing to put in the work. Great video Matti!
The amount of content you been pushing out is crazy. I can only imagine how hard you've been working lately. Keep it up man! On top of that the quality of content you're maintaining is honestly inspiring! Learning a lot from you. I appreciate your work.
Wow, quiet of the same story in my life. I graduated from a bible school in Germany in 2017 and I just made my first wedding a couple weeks ago. The difference is that I was not good at school 😄😅
Hi, Matti. I've been watching your channel for some time and it's time for a few words of appreciation :) I'm from Poland and although there are filmmakers here too, I prefer to watch you (although I do not always understand everything). In my opinion, Polish filmmakers do not want to pass on their knowledge (for fear of competition?) And watching you I get the impression that you are willing to help all of you to enter this world. I am also just beginning my adventure with filming for this great thanks for all the advice. Keep it up:)
you are always awesome... i like you and pete. i'm a photographer from india.... i appreciate about your thoughts and suggestions.. and thanks for sharing your story.. really appreciate that... good job
Thanks, Matti! Still Loving these daily videos and glad you talked about your start in the church. Really cool to hear about your story. I'd love to make some great videos soon, so I'm off to get that theology degree now. 🤣
Can so relate .. studied a Bsc Biochemistry and Zoology, have 2 years in Theology (for real) and have been in the marketing/advertising/entertainment model industry since 1997. I have been deliberating to start a you tube channel for over a year LOL .... have to learn from scratch ... something burning inside to do this to appeal to folk in age 45+ .... enjoy your channel. Thank you.
Thank the UA-cam algorithm for showing me this video! I'm about to start freelancing with the objective of doing such videos. I already did some but this pushes me to properly storyboard and prepare a good video. Here we go!!!
Im in a similar situation, I am currently studying Marketing, I had so much spare time living away so I go into filmmaking, at home I made a few videos for my friends outdoor company, now I get occasional clients for both video and photo and am not sure about sticking with uni, thank you for sharing btw !
Makes perfect sense. I'm close to getting my degree in Theology & Cultural Engagement. I'm also a former Youth Pastor and software engineer, who became a lead pastor and church planter, and now I'm focusing on my 3rd UA-cam Channel, and taking on Filmmaking as a hobby. So it feels like I'm on the Matti track to becoming a filmmaker. :) --> Perhaps when I grow up; I'll be able to shoot a similar video.
I have a feeling that Matti is the kind of person that hates to talk about himself... (just like me) The truth is people could watch an hour, or 2 hour video of your story, even when you think is not interesting enough or worth sharing! You INSPIRE, and so your life, and eeeverything involved on it. Very surprised of people with almost the exact same story. God bless man!! Keep it up!! You're giving UA-cam a serious lesson on CONSISTENCY, PERSEVERANCE and EXCELLENCE 😁
Thanks Matti for sharing your story. Definitely inspiring. I’m not a “UA-camr” currently but I love watching your videos. Great to know some context to your success. Awesome!
The best advidce every at 10:05 Awesome blog, sorry for the issue with the car, in my case, everytime I take mine to a cleanning shop, even when there is a drought, it just pours down a river at the very moment when I take my car out of the shop, It's incredible.
Matti I absolutely love watching your videos, I got my video carrier doing some of the things you mentioned in this video. My start came from creating training videos for the company I'm currently working for. I got my start with the company actually working on the production floor. Management heard about my graphic art and marketing ability, and had asked me if I could edit video. I was like sure I had limited video experience but had played with Premier Pro, After Effects a bit. They had me film a sample video (on the clock) They handed me a gopro. I was like let me use my Canon 5DM2 And they were astounded by the final video. The CEO said that it was way better then they were expecting. A Month later I was offered the job full time. While This is fun and I get to be creative I am always trying to find new ways to improve and hone my skills. Your Videos Have more than helped me. Thank you for all you do. BTW I now own a Canon C200 You have given me the insite to get the most out of all my gear, So again Thank you.
Great video, you break things down very well. One off topic question. Have you seen the sigma video for the sigma fp? If so what do you think? Or that was two questions.

I really appreciate these types of videos! It helps motivate me as a kid still in high school questioning himself all the time.
I'm from Brazil!
I'm currently a church videographer/photographer, it's giving me great experiences and it's great to help out my church.
Thanks for the church and Bible college part of the story. Been hoping you'd talk about that for awhile now. Good stuff.
About time.. 🙌
Yeah, man! I would love him to share his testimony too on his channel. That would be awesome!

Yeah, I think so too!
You don't need a fake believe to have a strong personality. False equivalency.
"i was 23 when I made my first video ever!"
I wish I started at 23..but we had tape based camcorders at the time...
I finally started doing videos last year at 48....never too old to start....
♥️♥️wow. Hell yeah..never too late to start.
Keep doing what you love.💥
That’s awesome. Never too late to start for sure.
Thank you for the confirmation that you started at 48...I'm 33 and I was like it's too late for me...but I'm glad I saw this.

So cool that you started in a church, I'm currently on the photography team at my church, its a great way to learn from those who are better than you!
Even if its an older video of yours it still warms my heart, especially the last seconds, and brings a ton of useful information! Thanks for that

Oh, I can relate a lot to the story: I’m a business analyst and a semi-pro musician with bachelors in theology :)
You are a big inspiration to me Matti, one of the reason I started with filmmaking and I haven't looked back ever since.
What I've noticed here, that the quality of the video (picture and content) did not change, the same Matti, but daily Matti 👍👍👍
Theology? Cool! So you’re Matti the preacher😁
Would be awesome to hear a sermon someday!
