What size is the fill port on the Haldex, transfer box and diff? My sealey syringe comes with a 10mm hose so going to get a 10mm to 6mm reducer?
Bro, this weekend is packed with mod videos, nice one. The diff was indeed cherry as could be expected. It's the one mod I won't be needing.. ;-) Reminds me to do my front diff (VAQ) though.
Ya I’m pretty tired. All this work may get me an extra $20 this month.
That Haldex thing you mentioned... don't tell me that's another type of oil??? Please tell me it's the same as the rest of the diff!
different oil. ua-cam.com/video/Yd5e4arNCfk/v-deo.html&ab_channel=LastHumansGarage
Very different. Incorrect oil will kill it
OK, I saw your video about oil change in the "front" differential. But what about the middle one? The so called "transfer case" - or is there no middle one? I'm confused. I have an Audi S1 from 2015 and it's hard to get the right information. There's almost no technical videos of the S1 on UA-cam so I'm looking at S3 videos...
I do the same. 4 jack stands on the 4 pinch welds. A scissor jack under the rear diff and my main jack under the transmission.
That comes comes down while you under it, your a dead man. Can't be too safe.
true
Order the parts for the pump just to have it just in case but don’t worry about it too much and save the money until the pump actually dies.
I have had a coolant smell and a drip or two for over 80k and my pump is still running strong.
nice reassurance! hope i have the same luck
You should have removed the haldex pump and cleaned the screen before adding the oil. I just did mine last week.
hehehe.. brother... i have already done the haldex and filter. that is not what i did in this video.
.9 dang that's the same fill for my rear diff on ,y Legacy, yep the front diff fluid always get more dirty vrs the rear.
dang
Good one Mark. I've done my rear and even at ~75K it was pretty clean. I ended up paying my shop to do the bevel up front because I just couldn't get the fill plug out (awkward). I used a ECS mag drain on the rear diff. and Racingline mag drain plug on the Haldex. I have one for the bevel I'll do next time. The MK8 aero/stone shields for your rear LCAs...I did them on the wagon as well as an exhaust tunnel aero cover (short)...have info for both in my build thread over on golfmk7 forum. Finally I note your resonator is in...when did you put it back on?
So the front box is called bevel? Think I put it in last night. Hard to remember cuz it’s been an action packed weekend.
@@LastHumansGarage front is "bevel box"
@@LastHumansGarage yes high action level at LHG!
Don’t worry about the pump. You got time. I would sus non oem coolant.
naw its oem.. i add oem stuff all the time.
And yea... im always shocked by how bad gear oil smells!
you know it
When should I do rear differential service? I have 35k miles and tuned
ahh i think officially its like never.. but i'd do it like every 36k or so on my cars. at minimum. but i like things perfect
@@LastHumansGarage got you, and the haldex is completely different right?
Water pump job isn't too bad. Just a little messy!
ill do it eventually, and it will be on video. ive always wanted to see it in real live person.. i never have..
When is the Subaru replacement happening?
damn... whenever we can save up some money.. prices are too high
Love watching the maintenance... right on right on... best thing about highschool I keep getting older and the girls stay the same age..
Ever looked at a dollar bill and wondered why its green?
@LastHumansGarage there's gonna be a chicken there, they're talking two handfuls! Lmao
