Just a note he said the European knight sacrificed mobility for protection, this is just false. Knight armor is built to fit the body and is very easy to move in. If wearing armor fitted properly than you can run, jump, role, climb, etc. in the end the Samurai and knights both had full body protection and almost full range of mobility. The only difference of protection between the armors is that the samurai leave more gaps in the armor because while knight armor offers almost full range mobility there are a few spots where mobility is not bad but can be improved upon. In that regard there largely similar in protection and mobility with the biggest difference being the samurai leaving there thighs unarmed for the purpose of making horse riding easier and more comfortable.

Thank you. I'm glad you pointed that out. The other myth is the quality of European blades vs Japanese steel. European sword Smiths later got Damascus (wootz) steel, which was better than the tamahagane steel used by the samurai.
Daito Ryu, the ancestor of Aikido, may have been used by samurai. This explains all the wrist grab defense, the unarmed man is trying to stop the samurai from using their katana.
Some major misconceptions we have Hollywood to thank for: 1. During the Napoleonic Era, officers on both sides would not usually go into battle wearing their dress uniform; 2. Swords, both in the European and Japanese Middleages, were secondary weapons with the spear or lance being the primary in both Europe and Japan - swords were what pistols became in modern times: back-up weapons; So we might see a warmovie about the WW2 battle in a few hundred years' time, depicting the US Marines wearing their red-white-and blue dress uniforms while firing Colt 1911s while storming the beaches of Iwo Jima.

Maybe it’s just a term for shooting but I don’t think samurai practiced musketry, instead they settled for match lock arquebus’ known as a tanegashima. The reason behind the choice of weapons was because muskets simply took too long to make, one high quality or just good barrel for the gun would take one month to make and that made meeting the demand impossible so they just stuck with arquebus’.
