I'm no twitchy kid, but these dungeon crawling extraction games feel so slow, clunky and honestly way too sweaty.
It's for balancing more thought behind gear set and strategy, slowness helps to set the pace of the "dance" in PVP combat. Doesn't feel slow once you get used to it, more balanced bc it punishes you for gambling / button mashing. Definitely not a speedsofter call of duty type game... but that's why a lot of people like it

@@elGonho I've never played MnB but guessing it's more fluid like chivalry or mordhau gameplay... would be cool ngl think the only reason they don't is coding restraints / they dont wanna or cant. If you could take the movement and combat of either of those games and put it into a dungeon crawler like this / dnd it would be 1000% better

They didn't put "a second of thought" into the map.
In Dark and Darker, they put plenty of thought and effort into their maps, especially for the mount of devs they got.
But here they just managed to put a lot more work into the maps. It looks like bare minimum for a game but it's a massive amount of work.

I played an older playtest, and one the things I noticed about the PvP is how much more fucked you are if you're caught out of position. Like, if your class really isn't optimal for fighting in melee, you're basically dead if someone gets to melee range and they're a melee focused class. But there's probably more complexity if you get to higher levels/gear. I didn't get too far when I played.
That is pretty similar to dark and darker though, if you are a druid and a barb/rogue/fighters gets on top of you, you are just boned 8/10 times

Getting so tired of the "THIS WILL KILL DARK AND DARKER" meme.
The game is pretty good if you prefer games like Diablo. Combat is simplified (You can't hit around shields etc, blocking is more like guaranteed damage reduction), characters have MOBA style abilities that have a sort of rock paper scissors thing going (casters have saves vs whirlwind/deathknight grab, etc). It's very arcadey. Environments are also way more out there, which is certainly cool.
But the whole appeal of Dark and Darker is the accuracy of the hitboxes and the way you manipulate your swings. The way you can actually look down to dodge arrows aimed at your head. The way your shield needs to be aimed to intercept attacks. The way you become functionally invisible in the darkness. The D&D inspired classical fantasy aesthetic. The more grounded locations and enemy types.
Dark and Darker and Dungeonborne are not at all providing a remotely similar experience. They will also attract a totally different audience. I personally cannot STAND the gameplay of Dungeonborne. Other people will love it, and that's totally fine. But fans on both sides keep trying to pull a "My game is objectively better" schtick, which is just obviously not true.

I found dungeonborn to be a lot easier to get into but i can see why people like dark and darker
i was a bit baffled by how people try to make it look like only one of the two can succeed when they are trying to do different things in the same genre
I think it will be the other way around and dnd will kill this game. Most people interested in this type of game are more hardcore gamers and not casuals like dungeonborn is trying to appeal more too.
@@99Myr I don't think so, because what you say is true because currently the only experience that we have is a hardcore experience.
A similar example could be Tarkov and HUNT Showdown
Tarkov was the first and got a big following, but hunt is more approachable and has been growing steadily over the years
It might end up as a good onboarding point for some DaD players as it can teach you some basics even early on
The tutorials of dungeonborn could help them get into the genre, then if they want to they can go more hardcore
right now i bet a ton of new DaD players don't even know that the squire and his starting gear exists without looking up a guide first
@@eranoszrill8907 Tarkov and huntshowdown is not the perfect example because huntshowdown was made by a much bigger studio with more experience and money then the guys that made tarkov and even so they manage to make a much better game that attracts more players and is more successful. The game is not even on steam like huntshowdown is.
i 100% think DnD is better however i 100% agree with u the spell wheel is kinda janky and just keybinding spells would b so much better. also DnD does have a shared stash tab now xD
To my understanding it's to make it compatible with console it's the same reason you have your tools on a hot bar

Not really, the Hotbar and health is completely different, the Menu system has some items shifted around with it's stats and such and its more Reminiscent of Diablo than Dark and Darker, which is the UI Dark and Darker kind of copied from as well. Not saying either is really bad its just, more Diablo not DaD.

Dark and darker map design is more basic because they're planning on making it procedural at some point, I believe.
Yup, it's made up of "room blocks" - it even WAS procedural already, back in the first playtests..
I don't remember what the issue was, but they got rid of the procedural generation for the following tests.
@@DatsWhatHeSaid rooms werent generating properly, some had doors into walls, alot of dead ends. some rooms didn't generate leaving voids behind doors and some rooms kept meshing together to create horrible levels. Mobs also weren't spawning right. Essentially the whole thing was bricked and since it was still new players couldn't learn the rooms reliably and kept getting lost.

I tried playing dungeonborne this last playtest, it feels very weird in my opinion and the combat seemed wishy washy on what damage you were doing. Rogues were also a plague with their petrify ability that essentially gave them a 20 second break in the middle of a fight where you can't do anything. Petrify needs to be removed almost completely, making people unable to move or do literally anything is just way too strong. Got a rogue at half health? Now he petrifies you and heals up or just runs.

More content than dark and darker when you see the daily quests?? There’s like 70+ progression based quests for all the traders that give great rewards down the line. You also level your trader affinity from quests which unlocks some sick shit to craft.
Theres only 1 trader in this game which I like bc I can just sell stuff quickly and get back into a game, also has an ore system based of Grey, green, blue variety of item which you can use to craft and customize buffs and attributes for cool stuff

It looks like a fun game to hop on and try but not like the high skill cap heavy progression of DnD. It honestly kind of looks like a mobile game that’s been ported to PC, the map design is pleasant though.

We totally understand not every video will be for everyone, and always happy when people give it a chance. Sometimes it surprises you, sometimes it just isn't for you. They have no plans for cheat and rmt prevention and the install button should never be clicked without an earnest plan in place

I haven't tried dungeon borne yet, and while it LOOKS better, I heard it feels crappy. The combat is just bad. And the balance is worst than Dad, which is saying something. I don't think either games are going to be the "Tarkov of medieval extraction shooter"
its terrible. some cool ideas but the dev team has no idea how to balance a game that barely runs and feels clunky as hell.
personally i found it plays a lot better than DaD and is a bit faster paced which is nice. Balance is no worse than DaD but theres new abilities and passives coming in early access in a few weeks which should help to balance some of the classes that are too strong like pyromancer and swordmaster
I'm new to the genre, tried both on the same day with my friends. Dungeonborn came out on top for me by a lot and i can't wait to get back into it.
DaD seems to be the more hardcore of the two, with less handholding and, to a new player, way more confusing and slow
Dungeonborn gave me a tutorial, didn't bombard me with what like 20 merchants? that it didn't explain why there are so many
Didn't hide free starting gear behind one of said merchants and behind a second tab of that merchant (i went back to give DaD another try and looked up guides to give it more of a fair chance
the lack of a overview map in DaD made me feel constantly lost with no sense of direction, while it also makes it so that exists stay on the map even when used and i had to read up on this but a lit torch can be the only indicator that it's still a usable exit. meanwhile i had no problem finding my way out in Dungeonborn
over all i bet dark and darker is the better game for some people
but the faster speed, more streamlined ui and menus, and simple quality of life features that helped me ease into the game made dungeonborn the game that i will be playing and i can't wait for the release on the 18th

I played it and the fighting and skills just feel infinitely better. Plays much the same as dark and darker but pvp was a little more enjoyable because the combat is fluid. However if you're one of those people that gets overwhelmed by pvp nothing will change. All I can say is get good bud.
idk this game is looking 10 times worse gameplaywise for meele, its just too simple, d&d has unique meele fight system for games this type, but yes mages look better in here

I’ve played both, in this one you find a lot more pvp and the pvp lasts a lot longer, I enjoy it more but people keep saying the pvp is “like a mobile game” makes zero sense to me but to each their own i guess.
