  • February 27, 2021. The Mercury 60 hp 4-stroke EFI outboard motor has been stalling at low rpm. In hopes of fixing the problem, I inspected and cleaned the high pressure fuel pump strainer located in the Vapor Separator Tank (VST). It is quite possible, a clogged fuel strainer constricts the flow of fuel.

Thanks: I changed the low and high pressure fuel filters, replaced the low pressure fuel pump, and finally, cleaned the very dirty VST filter. It ran like a charm. It was fuel starvation.

Got a little dizzy from the Bourne Identity camera work but was able to get it at the end...

No. My low pressure fuel pump was the culprit. The VST suffered fuel starvation. ua-cam.com/video/zm8xGbd5m_I/v-deo.html

      Hey I’m having a problem on a 2012 mercury 90 EFI.
The fuel pumps have been replaced twice and it will run out of fuel and shut off. If I pump the bulb it will run fine.
I have replaced fuel lines and both pumps twice at this point, do you think cleaning this would solve the problem I bought someone else’s problem thinking it was a running motor. The mechanic said there was water in it when he got it.
