@ 1:15, talk about double speak.
"One of the few things was customers thought that the plastic chaste was cheap feeling, although plastic was a cheaper way of (making things) doing things".

    • @nsxaj
      @nsxaj 8 років тому

      how is this double talk?
      He's basically saying,
"you can cut corners, but if some cutting corners affect the feel and comfort, even though it does
not affect the performance, it's better to keep what feels right, if it doesn't affect the performance,
because it helps the workflow and interest in the mixer"
my mx20xu feels plastic, but it may be light thin metal.
either way, it doesn't matter cause it stays in my rack 24/7

"Previous generations of MGs had a plastic chassis, some customers thought that it made it feel cheap some how, although it was the cheapest option (for the company, this option it lowered manufacturing cost and raised profits) we've gone back to the (higher manufacturing costing and profit lowering option, due to customers demand) metal chassis."
Spin (double talk) cheapness how ever you like, saying that plastic is the same as metal doesn't make it so. It's like saying bronze is the same as gold and you'll pay the same price per ounce for an inferior option.
Same people like their gear to be built like a tank, regardless if it's going on the road or not. Pro-Audio gear should feel professional and metal chassis feel very professional grade.

mrdtoxxx You might have a defective one... Mine works just fine and sounds great! The biggest thing is that they are just a basic mixer.. it doesn't have much of the capability of a $1000+ board.. but it does the job! :)

wow, I was hesitant on getting this mixer, 2 years ago, because it was going to be used as my Keyboard Sub,
in my recording studio (very critical that the sound was clean, robust, and full imaging.)
It was replacing my Unique Mackie 16 Stereo Channel Mixer, I've had since 1994, which finally had issues in 2014.
but still works (That was a 20 year die-Hard Mixer).
I was going to go with an Allen Heath, but went with the Yam, because it had 20 inputs (for my many synths),
and I wanted the FX's, and the Compressors on the 1st 8 Channels were an added plus.
Now, two years later, I will say, this mixer was a very good investment in my studio.
all my synth sounds run through this warm analog board, first.
There is no need to seek Mackie anymore, for repairs, which they do not support, my Legendary LM-3204 anymore.
      (their loss, big time)
Anyway, I am Happy, Happy, Happy.
NOTE: I really hate when people talk Good or Bad, without BACKING UP THEIR WORDS, in their opinion.
      Here is My Back-Up:
All my Keyboard / Synth Parts in my Music Compositions on my site was recorded with my MG20UX MIXER.
