New poe scrub, you could prob make a thousand of these dry videos that would be huge for people like me. There is no good clean way to give all the info so more bite sized, focused things really help. Like the right click for jewels in pob tip, something that would get lost if I watched a video showing all the pob tips. Showing off this trade button in a dry vid helped me understand pob and build improvement a ton, thanks!

Pro tip: Whenever you're manually searching on poe trade, or selecting mods in the drop down, start with a tilde. "~elemen attack fract" will filter to fractured elemental attacks with hits. I'm not sure why this style of search isn't base, but it's the search we want. Praise tilde!

When you do smaller context videos like this, it shows application and how to actually use the tools. I was a life long tradesman, I am highly skilled with tools I know, give me a brand new tech tool, I am not going to be good with it. Sitting and reading the instruct manual is going to give me little in how to be skilled with it.
The slow pan of the intro is *chef's kiss*. As someone who wants to start making my own build these sorts of "teach them how to fish" videos are great. Seems like the algorithm is liking the well positioned click bait in the thumb/intro, so hopefully you can keep trying to find creative ways to work this content into your channel. I recommend throwing out some of the very low impact mods from the weight list, and add in "must have" stats ( like ' at least x amount of life' or "at least x resistances" by hand, put in what you are prepared to spend, search, sort by weight stat, and if you don't like what you see, add an arbitrary amount to the total weight score and make it a live search. As soon as something that fits your search and price range pops up you go and buy that thing. (don't forget unchecking mirrored or corrupted or influence stuff if you don't want it) EDIT: OH and let it recalculate every time you bought an item, don't buy like 5-6 items off one calculation, because the math changes with every item.

I'm about to refine my build right now... I can absolutely see how powerful this tool can be and you made a great video on it. I'll keep that whole star trek thing between you and me too... I swear it. Your guides have been so enjoyable! I could listen to a 2 hour seminar on this stuff because at the start you say that I need to make sure my PoB is properly configured but I really have no idea lol I just imported it this way and haven't touched it. I figured regardless of how I have it set up, that if I just don't touch it that I can still use it as a baseline. It doesn't have to be "accurate" in game, just something to measure stuff by... kinda like using your arm as a ruler. Like I don't know the exact measurements but I can tell you how many arms something is lol

Fantastic explanation. I've been playing PoE for a few years off and on but I never really got past what was explicitly laid out by very hand-holdy build guides. This season I decided to really dig in and try to understand more about how things work and how to use PoB. I'm proud to say that I'm pushing harder content than ever before, and I'm having a lot of fun not just in the game but also in PoB, and on Poe,ninja trying to improve. Your videos have helped me immensely! Keep up the good work!
Even as an ssf player this information is insanely useful. Now I can verifiable confirm which mods are acceptable when crafting instead of having to endlessly copy paste them into PoB and check while crafting. Thanks for shaving hours off of my hideout time!
@@HasXXXInCrocs people who dont care to brag about being ssf, can just play trade and adhere to ssf, first couple of leagues i never traded but i just played in the normal league basically playing ssf, nothing would change. hardcore players also coincidently dont constantly comment about playing hardcore interestingly enough. now that i played enough to know a little of what im doing, i still prefer trade league, the game is really balanced around so. having a stockpile of currency also seems very meaningless in ssf. the high of getting divine orbs/mirrors isnt there.
I've been staring at POB for days trying to figure out where DPS was coming from and how I should upgrade my current state. I've gotten a lot of good information that has helped me build my own character since starting. This video has been a huge leap in upgrading my character! I had no idea how to continue upgrading.
These are my favorite types of videos from you. Useful information presented fairly concisely, but still entertaining. Also, bonus points for even mentioning the console version of the game. I knew this feature of PoB existed, but I've never even tried it. Maybe now I'll give it a go.
This video was massive for me. I was combing through trade looking for items that seemed to match the recommended items from my build guide, trying to guess how important each stat was. One search this way and two divines later and I have the first noticeable improvement in my character yet. Thanks!
Im two weeks late, but i have been wanting someone to cover how to use this feature and finally spent the past week tinkering and trying to figure it out use it. You had some great tips about adding fixed modifiers I hadn't thought of.
I was so frustrated that pob can't just outright tell me what is the current best mod for a jewel, I was manually creating jewels with different mods just to see the impact different mods do... This is SO helpful! And I can trade the item right away too. Its absurd how good this tool is.
With your concern at the end, you can rest assured, this video hit the mark. I might use that next time I get on. I'm in the process of upgrading my poison jewels. Hopefully it works out for me and it's something I use going forward. I appreciate the time and effort you put into helping the community with things that are not widely covered. I'm not even subbed to this channel, which I'm about to change. --I started watching subtractem when he did his frost blink builds, and more importantly than just fun, solid league builds, he's introduced aspects of this game to me in such a clear and comprehensive way that I can actually play and appreciate this game without help. So much so that I hadn't watched a single one of his league start builds for settlers, and I just saw his bleed lacerate build and the one I came up with on my own is almost exactly the same (minus leap slam, I was using quick silvered cyclone for clear). Like, it's almost a bad business model. Subtractem is so good at what he does, after you've seen enough of his content you just understand the game and don't need to watch anymore. Thank you so much.

I did this today with my holy relic build from balormage. Found a far superior pair of boots for my character. When I'm home from work I will do the same for my weapon and gloves. So helpful tyvm!!!
So I came home and upgraded my weapon and gloves with your tips. My damage skyrocket when I checked in pob. And I started going nuclear on maps. Just had to find the right pieces and spend a handful divines

WOW. THANK YOU! I've played poe on and off for like 4-5 years, but always hated having to search items one by one. I've never been able to understand how the button works and how to search for items using it, so I always avoided it. The guide you've made has literally shaved off hours of me sitting in my HO trying to find the best items for my builds. Keep up the great content. :) EDIT: One of the most helpful and best PoE vids I've ever seen.
You really looked like you could barely hold a laugh back at the start LMAO Great video! I reached a point in building where I understand how to upgrade my build without the tool, but frankly I'm still gonna use this because it saves so much time and effort Of course it's not perfect. Pob doesn't calculate suppression ehp too well unless you configure it right There are many mods it doesn't take into account It doesn't know uptime of many things as well as taking conditionals into account on percentage levels And, for example in my build, it severely underestimates the value of Ward for my ehp But even with all that, it's still an amazing tool
I think it's worth pointing out that this is a tool and you must be cautious when using it. Make sure before you purchase that you already understand how your build operates and have at least a good understanding of what PoB is searching for and why that is something you might want for you build. It might be quite difficult but also attempt to understand how one item might fix or allow you to fit in a different puzzle piece before blinding following what PoB's search returns. An example might be getting more res on your Body Armour is more valuable to your character currently because it will allow for you to replace your ring with more damage oriented affixes. The tool is very useful but requires understanding!
One more tip - when putting buyout price - try avoiding setting up price for divines. It cuts of items that are listed for chaos, where as first option lets you search for either chaos or divine orbs listings.
Great video! Once again, explaining to us simple folk how to increase our builds… my problem is I generally don’t know how to set up my PoB right… Usually I have my build open and the PoB I’m following open and just click the same boxes in skills and calculations 😂
Been using pob for a couple years and just learned so much... being able to copy an item off of trade and pasting is amazing. Also found out in another video you can control C an item in poe and paste into POB.
To me atleast; this wasn't boring or dry at all! Super informative and I learned a great deal about PoB and how to search for upgrades. IMO, 5:07 was where the video got REALLY moist.
It’d be really cool if there was an option for it to calculate the weighted sum of the currently equipped item in that slot and use that as the minimum sum for the search automatically. You would then be looking at strictly “better” upgrades
Min/max is insane. All this is cool and interesting, but one thing I'm excited about PoE2 is that it's gonna take a hot minute before we get tools like this up and running. PoE2 gonna be the wild west and I'm all about it.
This league was my first back in years as i always dreaded the third party software attendant to the game. Just discovered that button a few weeks ago and my mind went 🤯 Heard somewhere that the creator of PoB went and got hired by GGG, which is awesome.
Nice reminder , i seen you show this before. Honestly i hade totally forgotten about it. Im so used to just buy items with the stats guides has most of the time, because i trust they tried make it optimal. Sure i adabt and switch res to other kinds and such where its needed if iam fully aware i lack something more then other.
Just remember that if you let the default "Full DPS" search filter, you need to activate the full dps calculation on your main skill and setup correctly deppending on the skill you are using.
needed this, have been getting instagibbed on rare t10+ maps trying to get my zenith jugg dying minimally enough to hit lvl90 and onward, takes a lot of troubleshooting when you don't feel tanky enough to farm for upgrades
it's very good for rare weapons, jewels, or if you want a lot of a stat like life, not so much for armors as it does not do a good job with resistances, if you could tell it to find 3 pieces of armor and they should cap your res, and then give you damage it would be amazing, but as is I's not very good at doing that. it will most likely over cap or under cap you on resists because you can only choose a multiplier, not a specific resistance %.
Oh god you can change the calculation ! I was always sceptical because sometimes I wanted to cap my res and it would show me DPS items I never realised I could changed that...
Not sure if he mentions this but keep in mind that it doesnt always do it perfectly, for example it doesnt/cant take into account that an extra projectile will be the best option for some builds so for some builds you need to keep an eye out for stuff like that
Not gonna lie, as much as I wanted to understand it, and watched the full thing, I got completely lost as soon as the Weighted Sum explanation started. I want to share it to friend anyways just because it sounds important, lol.
It's not that bad to understand weighted sum: if you have 5 apples and 3 of them is worth 3$ and 2 of them is worth 5$, they are worth 19$ total, that's it, in Poe if you have a build that wants life, 1 life would be worth 5(let's say) and chaos res is worth 3, so item that have +100 life and 10 chaos res would be worth 530, if item has 50 life and 20 chaos res it would be 50*5+20*3= 310, so even if item has less life but more chaos res it is still better to go for more life and all the math is done by pob
I have only played two leagues and there is still SO much left for me to learn. I have been using Settlers as an opportunity to fully optimize the trading system, but the gaps in game knowledge make it hard to understand what to sell items for or whether an item i am seeking is inflated in price. I am slowly learning though and that's been the most fun so far. I didnt follow any guides and im stuck at T10s where I get one shot. My next mission is to get as much spell suppression as possible.

I did this today with my holy relic build from balormage. Found a far superior pair of boots for my character. When I'm home from work I will do the same for my weapon and gloves. So helpful tyvm!!!
So I came home and upgraded my weapon and gloves with your tips. My damage skyrocket when I checked in pob. And I started going nuclear on maps. Just had to find the right pieces and spend a handful divines
I know this exists but often forget to use it when I'm a bit lost in a build. A nice reminder to set some realistic upgrade goals.

WOW. THANK YOU! I've played poe on and off for like 4-5 years, but always hated having to search items one by one. I've never been able to understand how the button works and how to search for items using it, so I always avoided it. The guide you've made has literally shaved off hours of me sitting in my HO trying to find the best items for my builds. Keep up the great content. :)

I reached a point in building where I understand how to upgrade my build without the tool, but frankly I'm still gonna use this because it saves so much time and effort
Of course it's not perfect. Pob doesn't calculate suppression ehp too well unless you configure it right
There are many mods it doesn't take into account
It doesn't know uptime of many things as well as taking conditionals into account on percentage levels
And, for example in my build, it severely underestimates the value of Ward for my ehp
But even with all that, it's still an amazing tool

I think it's worth pointing out that this is a tool and you must be cautious when using it. Make sure before you purchase that you already understand how your build operates and have at least a good understanding of what PoB is searching for and why that is something you might want for you build.
It might be quite difficult but also attempt to understand how one item might fix or allow you to fit in a different puzzle piece before blinding following what PoB's search returns. An example might be getting more res on your Body Armour is more valuable to your character currently because it will allow for you to replace your ring with more damage oriented affixes.
The tool is very useful but requires understanding!

One more tip - when putting buyout price - try avoiding setting up price for divines. It cuts of items that are listed for chaos, where as first option lets you search for either chaos or divine orbs listings.
Great video! Once again, explaining to us simple folk how to increase our builds… my problem is I generally don’t know how to set up my PoB right… Usually I have my build open and the PoB I’m following open and just click the same boxes in skills and calculations 😂

Been using pob for a couple years and just learned so much... being able to copy an item off of trade and pasting is amazing. Also found out in another video you can control C an item in poe and paste into POB.
To me atleast; this wasn't boring or dry at all! Super informative and I learned a great deal about PoB and how to search for upgrades.
IMO, 5:07 was where the video got REALLY moist.

It’d be really cool if there was an option for it to calculate the weighted sum of the currently equipped item in that slot and use that as the minimum sum for the search automatically. You would then be looking at strictly “better” upgrades

Min/max is insane. All this is cool and interesting, but one thing I'm excited about PoE2 is that it's gonna take a hot minute before we get tools like this up and running. PoE2 gonna be the wild west and I'm all about it.

Nice reminder , i seen you show this before. Honestly i hade totally forgotten about it.
Im so used to just buy items with the stats guides has most of the time, because i trust they tried make it optimal. Sure i adabt and switch res to other kinds and such where its needed if iam fully aware i lack something more then other.
Just remember that if you let the default "Full DPS" search filter, you need to activate the full dps calculation on your main skill and setup correctly deppending on the skill you are using.

needed this, have been getting instagibbed on rare t10+ maps trying to get my zenith jugg dying minimally enough to hit lvl90 and onward, takes a lot of troubleshooting when you don't feel tanky enough to farm for upgrades
Great info for people that really dig into the game. To complicated for me. Ill just suck until im done playing.
it's very good for rare weapons, jewels, or if you want a lot of a stat like life, not so much for armors as it does not do a good job with resistances, if you could tell it to find 3 pieces of armor and they should cap your res, and then give you damage it would be amazing, but as is I's not very good at doing that. it will most likely over cap or under cap you on resists because you can only choose a multiplier, not a specific resistance %.
Oh god you can change the calculation ! I was always sceptical because sometimes I wanted to cap my res and it would show me DPS items I never realised I could changed that...

Not sure if he mentions this but keep in mind that it doesnt always do it perfectly, for example it doesnt/cant take into account that an extra projectile will be the best option for some builds so for some builds you need to keep an eye out for stuff like that

Not gonna lie, as much as I wanted to understand it, and watched the full thing, I got completely lost as soon as the Weighted Sum explanation started. I want to share it to friend anyways just because it sounds important, lol.
It's not that bad to understand weighted sum: if you have 5 apples and 3 of them is worth 3$ and 2 of them is worth 5$, they are worth 19$ total, that's it, in Poe if you have a build that wants life, 1 life would be worth 5(let's say) and chaos res is worth 3, so item that have +100 life and 10 chaos res would be worth 530, if item has 50 life and 20 chaos res it would be 50*5+20*3= 310, so even if item has less life but more chaos res it is still better to go for more life and all the math is done by pob
I have only played two leagues and there is still SO much left for me to learn. I have been using Settlers as an opportunity to fully optimize the trading system, but the gaps in game knowledge make it hard to understand what to sell items for or whether an item i am seeking is inflated in price. I am slowly learning though and that's been the most fun so far. I didnt follow any guides and im stuck at T10s where I get one shot. My next mission is to get as much spell suppression as possible.
