I broke some of my pieces when I put my old track together as well. It's just very old and brittle but that is why I bolted it down to the board. I realize you can't put holes in your table so you can't do that. For those who can do it.... it really does work great even on old broken track. Because you are very correct when you said it was very good track. The rails are low and the connections have far fewer bumps than what they make today. It's just those clips that were even fragile when they were new that is the problem. If you have a 4 foot by 3 foot board maybe you can race on the oval and the Elbroko micro track. I think you have everything to make that track right in front of you . All you'd need is the board and some screws. Once its screwed down it doesn't matter if the pieces are broken or not.
Ahoy enjoyed your video great idea there’s a channel murder valley Raceway guys from Australia. He’s already setting up one of these deal with the race tracks where everyone has the same design and races against each other anyway you might want to check out his channel.
Good video! Boy that old AFX track brings back memories! Thanks for that! That inner terminal track should be an easy fix with a little solder.

I am on board with virtual racing. Sounds like a great idea for a way to be able to compare my slot cars against other people’s slot cars on you tube!
Good stuff dude, I had those tabs snap off so easy back in the day
