The reason why Jokic didn't get blame on that game-7 loss, is because everyone in the world saw that besides him and Murray, the rest of the entire Denver squad couldn't buy a bucket to save their life! Minnesota was basically begging to see if anyone besides Jokic could make a basket, and nope.
Honestly I believe Jokic doesn’t get as much flack because people realize he is the team. There are no other stars around him, Lebron, KD, all these other players had stars around them. Jokic is out there on his own.

I'm a Jokic fan, but he can increased all his stats by 5 points from last season and he still won't win MVP, the media would want a new darling to vote for. But I can be happily be proven wrong.
If the Nuggets don’t finish top 3 in the west, I agree that they will vote someone else regardless of stats. But if he keeps this up he will probably get it. However, Giannis’s higher ppg and fg% plus comparable rebound numbers and advanced metrics (though some advanced stats put Jokic way ahead of everyone) might let him overtake Jokic but I don’t think the Bucks are good enough.
I mean voter fatique gotta set in at some point, but Jokic might actually be the 1st guy to beat it. If he can keep this form up and Denver is getting a Top 3 seed without any player on his team being an all star AGAIN, he might actually have a chance. Don't forget he is literally leading the Kia MVP ladder right now. Also Luka ain't playing MVP basketball right now, Giannis team is letting him down and Chet just got hurt, which might let OKC fall a bit, only way AD gets it instead of Jokic is if the Lakers have a higher seeding than Denver which i don't think will happen. Tatum is a guy that should have good chances, but for some reason the east doesnt get the same kinda coverage as the west.

The issue is that there is no other candidate. Giannis’ team is terrible. You can’t give an MVP to someone from the last place. And Giannis already has 2. It won’t happen. Luka is trash this year. He is out. Shai and Tatum have good teams but their stats can’t compete with Jokic’s. Embiid will not play enough games for sure and he is also not good so far.
I mean a lot of the blame of the game 7 loss was on Murray because Murray and the supporting cast of the nuggets was genuinely so inconsistent or flat out bad that series with the wolves

The Nuggets also have Cancar and iykyk. I know he’s still recovering from injury, but he is another big small forward who can pass from the top of the key, defend pretty well, and knocks down open shots. He will bolster their bench and they will be fine.
I understand not wanting to give him 3 in a row, but if Joker keeps his numbers somewhat close to current throughout the season, I don't think many people are going to think twice about giving him his 4th in 5 years.

Can we please just stop mentioning Embiid in MVP conversations? Yeah, he puts up good stats...in the games that he plays which is just over half a lot of the time. He never takes his team anywhere in the playoffs. If they make the playoffs, they almost always get bounced by the first playoff team they face. It's pretty early and there's still a lot of season left to play, but I wouldn't be surprised if Nikola Jokic wins MVP again. Even if the Bucks do dig themselves out of the horrible slump they're in, I don't think it's Giannis' goal to win another MVP. If the Thunder can pull off another great season, then maybe SGA will get at least a bit more attention, and I think the same thing goes for Anthony Edwards & the Timberwolves. But unless Kendrick Perkins creates another horrible media narrative, I really wouldn't be surprised if Jokic is able to win another MVP.

2021-2022 Jokic is the ONLY PLAYER IN NBA HISTORY to average 27pts, 13.8rebs, and 8ast throughout the regular season, and he started 74/82 games. That's the statistical anomaly you're looking for with regards to this Jokic MVP win.
That year, he was 4th in the entire league in true shooting percentage at 66.1%.
To put that into perspective, 2016 unanimous MVP Stephen Curry's true shooting percentage was 66.9%, 1st in the league.
Curry was the last player to win regular season MVP and the Championship in the same season. And he didn’t even win Finals MVP. Maybe there’s a curse?
