The method is the same for threading the Singer 66K. Full instructions for threading the machine, filling the bobbin and loading the bobbin in the machine. The machine shown is a 1927 Singer 99K which featured in the video showing the removal of the motor. The 99K is a very reliable model which produces an excellent stitch. Manuals for old Singer machines can be downloaded from the Singer website www.singerco.com

Clearest instructions I’ve found to date! My mum and I have been scratching our heads on how to thread the bobbin for quite awhile! You’ve solved our problem 😅

At my house we have 2, one that belonged to my great grandmother and on that belonged to my great great great grandmother. The latter is under the house and is starting to fall apart, and the first one is inside but missing the gizmos and the part that you use to thread up the first thread (why!!!) My nan also has one of another of my great grandmother that has everything on it and is in great condition, but she doesn’t use it and it take forever to unlock the case it’s in ( it’s a graveling sewing machine with electricity, the other 2 are older and are pedal powered. I wish I could learn how to use them but the first 2 need repairing or new parts, and the last one I can’t really use even if it works

My great great grandmothers is easily over 100 years old, my great grandmothers one is easily 70-100 years old and my great grandmother that my nan has is around 50-80 years old

This is the best video I've found on UA-cam. I've recently got myself a Singer from 1915, and I was sitting there rather helpless until I found your videos. I went from "Where do I even start? How do I thread it? How do I make it move?" to just having finished my first tote bag, all within 12 hours. You're a great teacher!

Thank you so much Lizzie, I have not used my 99k for a while so your most excellent video reminded me how to thread the bottom bobbin so perfectly.

12 years later and your video is still proving to be an absolute gem. Checked a few other videos on the bobbin winding specifically and realised they couldn't be the correct winding, but you've shown it perfectly!
I must admit I also got a chuckle while winding the bobbin using your instruction, upon hearing the tripod incident. If anything that adds a nice bit of character to it all!

I just purchased this same machine last week. It dates back to August 1, 1927. Pretty rough shape, lots of rust and some missing parts but restorable. It must have been heavily used. Decals are all worn off and the only shiny place on the face plate is where the thread from the take up lever down to the eyelet in front of the face plate rubs against the plate. I look forward to soon use this gem. Thanks for your tutorials.

I have 2 vintage Singers, one the bobbin is down inside, the other I just got, the bobbin is like yours. I never threaded this kind. I followed you and it's perfect, and you taught me how to refill the bobbin, you don't want to know how I did it, lololol, thanks again.

Great! Really helpful! I have an exact sewing machine from my grandma and I was just thinking about buying a new one because I didn't know how it worked. The paint is a bit worn out for my grandma spent nights and days working with it to bring up her 3 children. I have just tried it and it works marvelously. By the way it was made the same year than yours (1927) and to me it is invaluable, it is priceless. Thank you so much!

Thank you so much. I recently inherited my mothers old Singer and thought I knew how to put the bobbin in but it kept knotting up, without even beginning to sew. Thank you - glad you enjoyed the video.
The tension for the top thread is set in the same way as on a long bobbin machine, shown on another video. Adjusting the bobbin thread on a round bobbin machine might be a bit tricky on video, but we will see if we can do it. As for needles, all the machines we show take exactly the same type of needle as modern machines, so it is just a question of buying the right needle for the job and getting the advice you need at the shop.

Great video....as always!! I'm cleaning up a model 66 for a friend and this video will be very helpful to her, so I'll be sure and tell her about it. Your 'bonus feature' gave me a good laugh...lol!
