For people that have negative things to say, you would think that they appreciated tech UA-camrs that take the time to inspect these phones; whether it’s an android, Apple, etc. so that the consumer can make a good decision on what phones to buy out there, especially when there are so many nowadays. I personally may not always agree with a person’s opinion but I do appreciate the feedback.👍🏻
I've been watching you for years. You're a great reviewer. Thank you.
I read a review online about this phone, and the person was complaining about only being able to charge it while it was turned off. Do you know if that is true?
Where do I get a sim card
Incredible video. Don't mind the hateful comments. Putting up with the garbage companies serve and even going as far to attack critics is ridiculous. People need to understand that being complacent with this slop only causes stagnation. Criticism is what drives real change and improvement. Keep up the good work!
That’s what I’m saying! 👏 The comments don’t bother me at all. What truly makes me sad is seeing people spend their hard earned money on products that are objectively bad, and companies continuing to produce those bad products without a care in the world. Most of us here are very “tech literate” in that we know what these phones should do, and how they compare to others, etc. I just want the average person to be informed and understand what sorts of products are being sold to them and why they may not be worth it for them in the end.
@@TechDaily
Please review the Sony Xperia 1 V.
Motorola outside of their flip phones don't sell phones to people who are tech enthusiast. Most of their phones are for people who want affordable phones from a brand that they trust and for people who don't care about top flight specs.
I mean don't you think if Motorola wanted to make just a whole bunch of flagship phones they could? And if that the case why not just get the Motorola think phone If you do want flagship spec.
Motorola think phone has Snapdragon 8+ gen 1, 8 or 12 of ram 144 HZ display Corning gorilla Glass victus 65 watt wire under the screen fingerprint scanner but it only cost 399 on Amazon and 399 on Motorola website.
I have the Samsung s23 ultra and I have the regular Samsung s23 and I have the OnePlus 9 5G. I was thinking about getting the Motorola think phone but it doesn't have a MicroSD card slot and I don't want another top scpec phone that don't have an SD card slot.
That's one of the reasons why I still keep around my Motorola one 5g ace and my Samsung A51 5G because both of those phones have SD slots
Possibly the biggest generational upgrade in history.
Finally! There's a review for that phone!
I was very worried buying this phone, but I’m glad it’s better 😅 I was a little happier making this video than I thought I’d be
Wow, they don't sell any Plays in my country.
I just got one in sage green.
I feel like USB-A to Type-C is the better cable to include if they won't include a charger with it, since people are much more likely to have a random whatever USB-A charging brick, or even a fast charge capable USB-A one, like an old Samsung charger than to have a USB-C charging brick. In this case including another charging brick might not even be necessary, the same way the amount of cardboard in this package isn't. This is also definitely a much better phone than the A05.
My Nord N10 came with a type A to C and I’m glad it does. Use it for everything even after getting a new phone
Agreed .I bought it lately .it blew me away for the price point.
The reason why Samsung chucks in a C-to-C cable is so you can use it to transfer data from your old phone.
@@pixelgaming7261 Wow that's very useful.. yeah not really. What if you switch from a phone with micro usb? Back in the days with phones like the S8 they included a micro usb to usb-c adaptor and an OTG adaptor.
I can't believe even this $149 Motorola phone has a higher refresh rate than the iPhone 15 which costs more than 4x 😑😑
I can't believe iPhone has 7.2 times faster CPU despite costing only x4. I can't believe it has morbidly better cameras, with literally 20+ times the sharpness when say zooming in over this phone, despite it costing only x4. Etc. I mean you cant randomly pick some spec and compare it to cost. iPhone has incomparably better display, and imo looks like a steal comparing to this, despite being more expensive.
I'm like the motto g play 2024 has hardware that's worth way more than under 200 .it felt anything but budget .
The display on the Motorola is not even close to good. The screen dims as you tilt the phone away from your eyes. It having a big screen makes it worse because the corners dim and you never able to utilize the full light from the display.
@@NiohNiohYTGlazing Alert
That looks WAAAAY better, newer, sleeker and more expensive than both iPhone 15 and Galaxy S24.
Thank you for reviewing this phone!! Love the honesty and that you reviewed such a cheap device. I am a nursing student and still have 6 months of school to go. I definitely can't afford to sign onto a new $1800+ device plan, so I just ordered this phone to get me through the next 6 months. Very glad to have found this video to know what to expect when it arrives to me. Thanks again!!
What ??? You mean that I only got a basic phone when that is just what I wanted? Incredible!
Thanks for your honest reviews. I'm in the budget phones category and not tech savvy at all and appreciate an educated and honest review when I'm considering buying a new phone, without having to wade through what seem to be the plethora of 'sponsored' reviews that I find more confusing than anything else.
Very useful information. I love watching your videos cause it educateds me about all these different phones and inspires me to get into phones 📱✨
Realized in this video just how good your work is. Keep it up. Truly to the point.
Just bought that very same phone. So far so good!
Helpful. Thank you.
I'll buy this as an back up. Thanks for an awesome review!
6:42 Yeah, the G Play (2023)'s 90Hz panel looked more like 45Hz.
The more critics it pushes them to do better
Even if it's a budget device it still should be decent enough, even Samsung improved the a14 5g
💯 criticism warrants change with these devices. Motorola and other brands should welcome feedback.
The A13 5G's display and selfie camera were pretty awful. Putting the A13 5G next to my A34 5G makes the A13 5G's display quality look 10 years old. It looked ok at first but after getting my new phone, I started to wonder how I put up with it. And after using the A34 5G, the A13 5G was borderline unusable, and it never felt like that before.
I bought it for $19:99 so I think it's great
Oh wow, I didn't know Motorola changed so much over the years. I last used them in the Moto Mod era. They had some really great phones at the time. The Moto Z Play was just barely weaker than a flagship phone of the time and it was talked about for its good update frequency which was thought to be because of its near stock Android version. Though I guess maybe the "G" line of the Play is more budget than the Z Play?
I wonder if the pho dual camera setup on this phone is a future cost saving measure to keep this series price down. In the future they can keep using this shell, but add in a second camera.
Is the battery removable?
who in the world would call a nice guy like you mean names? Absurd!!! Anyways...great video Wade. Love the New Moto G play..Saw one in Best Buy, and tried it out.... Seems great.
Hey I wanted to ask whether you buy the mobile phones yourself or get them from the companies.
But the redmi note 13
Did Moto go back to letting you use the SD card as extra internal memory instead of what happened with the 2023 model where it was just a separate memory option?
There's no denying this is still a budget phone with all of the caveats of one, but compared to last year's model, they really got their shit together. It's not even close. And when you consider it's still slated for three years of security updates, this is a phone I might actually recommend to someone who just wants the basics, and I haven't said that about Motorola in a long time.
Thank you for sharing
Hey, thanks for the video and I guess my biggest criticism is the screen you gotta have a screen that’s decent enough to look at if it’s pixelated what’s the point
Can you compare this to the Moto G14?
I got this phone as part of a Tracfone plan for free from HSN about 2 years ago.
Android 11, 64 GB storage, 4 GB ram .
Android/Tracfones are the only thing I buy from HSN.
As far as computers and phones, everything else sold by HSN is a rip off.

Hey I would love a Samsung A05s review (i liked your A05 but i hear the A05s is a bit better) and unboxing because I am looking into that phone and wanted to hear your perspective (btw great vid on Motorola :))
A better compassion is the new Samsung International A15 4G. It is ok only a few dollars more and has way better specs.
Motorola cell phones will always have better antenna reception than any other cell phone in the market of course except iPhones wich also have good reception.
I havent used Motorola in years. Is this thr same Moto G Play as in Google Play, as how they used to do G Play editions back in the early 2010's?
i love the font 😍
My last and only Moto Android phone was the Atrix 4G back in the day.
What did you think of it back then?
I had that phone in 2011
I read a review online about this phone, and the person was complaining about only being able to charge it while it was turned off. Do you know if that is true?
While missing the 5G that I've gotten used to with my google phone and others I've borrowed. I do like it's camera and being able to buy it outright without too much worry.
With that I am coming from Much much older phone tech so this feels just right for me.
Ok so the same phone model was recently launched in India named G04. It has latest Android 14, an IP52 rating, more vibrant color options, and comes with a charger and case included in the box, although the chip used is the decent Unisoc T606. Additionally, the price of the phone in India is lower when converted to US dollars approx 85$ and 10 bucks more for the 8/128
Come bro, there are literally some phones in United States way cheaper as compared to India. And they are flagship
Damn 85 dollars for a 8gb 128gb storage phone with all those specs is insane
Currently using the g84, great phone for the price ❤
The Moto Edge 40 Neo might be better value unless you got the G84 for just over 200 bucks or less.
very nice review but i wished that u covered gaming on it too
I just got my Moto G Play 2024 delivered and haven't "set" it up yet. I use the phone with Consumer Cellular so I think I need to have them transfer everything from my Moto G Play 2021 phone. My question is, when I called Consumer Cellular, they immediately recognized my phone number and asked if I was ready to activate my SIM card, but I backed out because I didn't know if all of my contacts, photos, etc. would be transferred over to my new phone. It appears this new phone doesn't need a new SIM card, so I'm confused.... do you think everything will automatically be transferred to my new phone, or do I have to go into a Target store and have a Consumer Cellular rep do the setup?
just copy all your contacts from the old phone on to the SIM card. Then when you put the SIM into the new phone, all the contact info will stil be there. Some new phones do not need a SIM card because they have both eSIM and SIM. Alternatively, you can synch with your Google account and sign into the new phone with this account.
Does it have FM radio?
Thank you for this I got so sick of my Amazon tablet this doesn't seem like such a bad buy.
Love the facial hair ❤❤❤❤
Not all motorola phone are the best but one of them are good but which one is recommended from motorola moto g series
How does this phone compare to the Motorola Moto G Stylus 4G/LTE (2023)? Stylus is $129.99 so it is cheaper currently to the G Play (2024). which is better, which has a better camera?
I don't understand how this phone only has 15w charging, which is an upgrade from last year, when my 2020 Motorola Moto E 2020 had 18w charging? What happened?
Im not surprised that even motorola's entry level phone doesnt even include a charger
When is the release date?
Where do I get a sim card ? The phone ne didn't come with 1
I bought mine for 89.99 from Cricket
Hi how much price Sir?
Motorola atrixa 4g was my first phone.
That’s a phone I don’t think I’m familiar with!
@@TechDaily it was realsed in 2011
My first smart phone was a Moto G (1st gen) a good phone for the money. A bad charging cable blew that phone, My dad had the same 1 it lasted a good 3 years after that. After me 1st when south (I got a 3rd and 4th gen) very poor replacements and Lenovo owned. They seemed to drop the ball with the Motorola name. My dad also got another Motorola phone (Lenovo owned time) that was rubbish as well. In 2017 I switch to Samsung as did my dad not long after. Never looked back.
💥💥How come you never reviewed the Motorola think phone or the razor Plus
Whats the exact model #?
Do you know how many times this phone resisted to pinch points and hits and then the big battery which it gives a plus for a day 😅
I'm currently using a Pixel 4a, will this be a better phone all around than my current one?
Doubtful. This has less ram and the processor is only a smidgen more powerful. Maybe wait for a good trade in deal for the Pixel 7a? That's a better phone and hopefully Google will offer a good trade in deal for you.
It seems like a smartphone for people who want to be reachable, and maybe some light use of social media..as well as watch movies all week long with that external 1TB storage
Thank you for the informative video. I was considering this phone or a moto G 5g 2023 phone. Any recommendations? Thanks
Why not the moto g stylus 2023??🤔
Compare this phone to the Samsung A15 4G International. I'm Canadian, but bought it off Amazon USA.
Same phone selling in india with a name moto G04 in less than 100$
10:12 The depth and macro camera in last year's model were basically useless so 1 camera isn't that much of a deal breaker. The lack of an ultrawide lens and 4k video is normal at this price point and is a feature only found on midrange and flagship phones. After all, the iphone se 2022 which costs a lot more at $429 has no ultrawide lens and still only has 64gb of base storage so it's not that bad.
The G Play from last year was worse than the Samsung Galaxy A21s, which came out for the same price 3 years before with an even better performance. The new one looks much better.
I'd like to see how well it runs under Lineage. Moto is not that great for upgrading Android past two years. But if you can run open source Android on it, then it wouldn't matter. To me it doesn't matter if the phone can be rooted because I don't put any sensitive information on my phone. I use it primarily to check bus and train schedules and make the occasional call. I think it is a bargain price -- one tenth the cost of an iPhone pro or a folding Sammy.
Cool phone.
9:51 I really don't agree with this, the USB-A to USB-C cable can be used with way more chargers than the USB-C to USB-C cable, therefore making it more universal (which is the whole point of USB) and objectively better. As far as I know, only Samsung chargers use the USB-C to USB-C cable.
Motorola.. great price, great reliability, great battery. Who can argue with great?
I still have the Samsung Galaxy A 02 and I'm thinking of upgrading to the Samsung Galaxy A 15 4G soon on black Friday
Not you too Motorola. Why are you following the trend of no charger in the box?
Can you really complain about a $149 phone. There aint no F150 raptor in the bottom of a crackerjack box.
Please make a comparison between the Motorola G Play 2024 and the Samsung Galaxy A05s
Will do! Great suggestion! 🤙
The new motorola moto g play 2024 is decent but good speakers and nice design and how much gb in motorola moto g play 2024 has
64gb
What about NFC?
No NFC in this model
I just got this for 60 on boost
Unpopular opinion Android 13 should have had a DBZ easter egg or reference.
I need to upgrade my mom's G6😂. Bought it in 2019 for cheap (120,00€). Need a replacement under 200€ max. Looking at the G24 and G play 24. Anything else?
PS : Motorola preferably, you know, so the phone feels familiar to her
If only I had such eyebrows 🤨
I wish Motorola brought into $300 price range similar specs to Xiaomi Poco X6 - nice OLED screen, Snapdragon 7s gen 2 and fast 67 W charging plus retaining 3.5 mm headphone jack + 4 years of security updates. Poco x6 doesn’t offer good camera but it is a compromise.
Which country you from
It depends on region
You rather buy Nokia g42 5G wich has the sane screen but a clean ui and lots of updstes. I just received A14 on my device and is flawless. No facebook preonstalled wich is kida rare nowadays
As long as I can play cod mobile is all I care about lol
I hate the finger print sensor on the side. It's driving me nut it's on every phone these days.
I think at this orice its a nice phone and one other similar option can be OnePlus n10.
Anyone having issues with charging it?
I asked the same question and still no answer.
@@NicholasX.So the phone is a fast charging phone. The brick has to be a fast charger. Sucks they didn't add it into the box.
I read a review online about this phone, and the person was complaining about only being able to charge it while it was turned off. Do you know if that is true?
Used to love motorola fones. They were mainly manufactured in the US and were cool little fones.
But now they are owned by chinese manufacturer lenovo, hence made in china. And the difference in quality really does show.
Not to mention the obvious risks involved with chinese tech companies having to comply when their government wishes to spy on users of their devices.
I see it as a sad end to what was once a promising and innovative company.
RIP Motorola USA.
It's a upgrade from last year. It's not for me though. I'm going to wait until they release the new power to decide if I'm going to keep my power 23. I heard the 2024 power may be a downgrade. If so I will just keep my phone.
Motorola is always so wonky with their releases. I’ve felt the last 2 years of Moto devices have been a downgrade across the board (and people call me a “complainer” or say that I’m a paid shill hating on Motorola, but the spec sheet doesn’t lie 🙄) I’m really hoping the devices this year - like the G Play - are actual upgrades, because we need more smartphone options in the U.S.
@@TechDailyMy Moto G power 23 is a huge upgrade from my Moto G power 22. I turn that phone on occasionally. It feels so slow compared to the 23 phone. The 23 also sounds better. Dual speakers and Dolby Atmos. Also more storage. 128 GB . Yes there's room for improvement. Especially in the camera department. I love Motorola phones though. I'm not sure why. There's just something about them that I love.
It’s better than Samsung A05 👍
Might as well buy the moto edge (2022) for 140$
Or Moto g stylus 5g 2023 with snapdragon gen 1
at that resolution id have liked the phone to be way smaller
I'd prefer a smaller phone
That phone has less storage space and ram tbh unless they an option to pick more storage space with more ram
Xfinity $99.99 or in my case Xfinity is giving one to me for free. After watching your video 🤮 especially compared to my Samsung galaxy S22 ultra
Bro just did his job. Don't mind them. Helio G36 is totally trash. Even if you ask MKBHD, he'll definitely say that the G Play 2023 is really slow even at the basic apps like messaging, or taking photos. So you see, the phone could not even do the basics without hiccups, and that's why I skipped buying that phone.
Also, the 2024 version got drastic improvements. Thanks to these guys who criticized the 2023's performance
Finally motorola stopped usnig trash processors like the g37.
While is version of the g Play is much improved and this is a great review, the Samsung A15 4G International is a few dollars more on Amazon USA and has 6 GB of RAM, 1080 x 2340 resolution Oled screens, NFC and infinitely better updates and security patches - amongst many more better features. I am a lifelong Moto user for my personal phone, but just got the Samsung. Motorola is just too far behind.
I know they didn't 32 gb and u can't save ur game to sd card como on moto beautiful phone no storedge
Nhad stayed sway from Motorola phones after the so good Moto g power 2020. Because of the downgrade every year. Had to have s cheap phone while i had my great 4 year old LG g8x port fixed. I got the Moto g stylus 4g 2033 from att to use until i got it back. The mediatek G85 was so lagging and apps closing on their on . Not a good experience. Glad i only paid $59 from Walmart on a special deal. Sim back n my old flagship with the 855 snapdragon and will have to get a new phone soon but maybe the high in Moto edge on sale or Oneplus midrange phone with snapdragon processor. Don't like all these mediatek processors.
At this price just buy the samsung a05 or a05s or the infinix hot 40 pro
A05 would be my pick! Maybe I should do a comparison video?
@@TechDaily yes do a comparison of it, thanks
Thanks for the info I'm definitely not getting this phone

I swear even my S7 on Android 13 ran smoother than that.. and that phone was 7 years older than the G Play 2023 ○_○
I was stunned how bad the G Play was last year. It was the worst phone I’d ever used, and I was even more stunned that people were defending the device or calling me a hater. Like, do people *want* companies to sell them awful products…?
@@TechDaily I'm very sure there are better value phones out there.. even far older flagships perform far smoother than that :/
@@TechDailyWhich do you think is worse? Galaxy A02 or Moto G Play (2023)? You had very negative opinions about both of those phones, which is worse?
@@pixelgaming7261I personally wouldn't pick either, would rather take an older flagship
I mean if people buy these just for texting and calling, I am very sure these phones will get that done..
@@pixelgaming7261Don’t know why my comment got deleted.. but yeah, I feel that for the same price, going flagship from years back is a better deal.. unless the only use for it is to make phone calls and text, then I guess they are fine.. but generally those old flagship phones are still fine for daily use, not great, but the experience will be better
It not charging fast it real slow
I got the moto g play 2023 a couple months ago and its horrible I wish I could get a different phone but I can't
DO NOT BUY
Should of got the Moto g stylus 5g 2023
soon will be outdated because 5 g is the thing now.
A 4G phone in 2024?
