After learning about Sam, a substation worker outside of Blackrock, and his connection to Rudiger's Project, it's time to talk about another survivor of the Langston Mine outbreak. The unnamed mystery survivor left behind the Conspiracy Theories note, which details their connection to the project as well. It would be wild if Rudiger transmitted the data to the company Astrid worked for and that's why she wanted to go deep into Great Bear; she has the cure for the mental deterioration
That would have been 40 years before. I doubt that's where the data went. The cure in Wintermute is a response to the PM outbreak, which happened before Wintermute.

That is a very interesting theory. Makes sense that the foreman could choose to live besides the civilization in a bunker or something. Or even as a trapper much in the way of Jebediah.
Thinking of which… could that be possible? That the code word wintermute had something to do with the old days in the mine?
I think you meant Jeremiah, and no. Wintermute, the word, is not related to the tales.

Idk, the time frame doesn’t really add up. 40+ years? Really? I just don’t know about that. I mean, a whole group of people goes missing out in the far territory (which has enough infrastructure to be on official gov radar) yet no search party or anything is sent out? What about the downed airliner in episode three, maybe it was on the way to the airfield? Questions like that makes me think that wintermute and the Langston incident either occurs together or at least in close succession. Also am I right to think the survival gameplay takes place well after wintermute and the other events. That’s why everyone’s either dead or fled the island because they couldn’t figure out what’s happened, leaving us alone to pick over the devastation. That would explain why we see frozen bodies everywhere, they all got messed up by the experiment and wandered off and perished. Idk, lots of questions that need answers. Hopefully episode 5 will shed some light.
First, this project was absolutely under the government's radar. Jahnn Industries, the company that financed it, definitely covered everything up. The downed airliner has nothing to do with this. It fell after the first flare at the start of the game. We know of 2 notes from the far Territory that have dates. The one in the main hangar basement is definitely about the experiment and it has the year 1982 on it. The other one is from the mystery visitor that came to the far Territory and saw what happened in the mine in 1991. Also, you really can't tell when each body that we see was frozen. Most of them are from after the first flare. Some of them, such as the ones in the Langston Mine, have been there since the 1980s.
