I remember tattooing like that oh have times changed.. whole tissue and tattoo machine in same hand tattooed like that for about 7 years then got introduce two different bye by Little Mick.. tissue in left hand tattoo machine in right hand. tattoo like that ever since....
Hahahaaaaa!! Good luck going to any DECENT shop now and asking "where are your $8 20 minute designs?" Such an awesome piece of history! Im grateful for this absolute craziness of a career.. but im so glad i dont have to work for peanuts, id have to have my wife and both my kids tattooing with me too, each of us would have to be doing minimum 20 ppl a day... really goes to show how far our financial system has really deteriorated and keeps everyone in the dirt.. you could live on $20 a day, even in my parents lifetime, nowadays anything less than 6 figures is considered poverty...
This was made in 1964 so that was worth about $75...a stretch these days as a lot of shops have $100 minimums...but still possible in some places, a half hour piece for $75.
Hmm.. I watch quite a number of old fashioned films. Judging by the way he speaks, camera quality, audio and dress, I’d say around the 1950 period. People were actually taught to speak like the “old” voice you hear in documentaries, incorporating American and English speech in their dialogue.. this teaching faded out during ww2, so that’s why you don’t see many documentaries past the 60s that they sound like that, haha. Hope this was some new info :)
Right hahaha thats what im saying! Imagine a tattoo being less than you can make back with half a days wages for the time.. nowadays ppl have to save for months to keep up w/cost of living and still get a tattoo.. really shows how society will exploit the hell out of anything humanly possible until its so squeezed dry it becomes obsolete. Inflation literally just harms everyone.. and small business and entrepeneurs get the worst of it...
Yet the talk about needle sanitation is cringe. The Zeke Owens documentary done about 10 years after this...no gloves yet he mentions autoclave sterilization of tools.
He's been an enigma to me for years I can't believe how personable he is. I actually have a coloring book that features a famous photo of him. Respect.

Very rare for tattooists of that era to wear gloves. Most artists here in the UK didn't start to wear gloves till the mid 80's. Great Video !!
richard warburton it’s Jimmy Lomax here pal this is a great video. Burchetts work on this fella 1907 fuckinell quality
Yet the talk about needle sanitation is cringe.

They probably only wore them back then so they didn't get ink on their hands instead of hygiene reasons.
"Lot guys want a eagle" Fuck yeah! Things never changed 80 years later! Eagles, roses, panthers, mom hearts! Are timeless!
Getting an eagle next week, actually!
Exactly what I was looking for!
