- Man with a fully loaded baby stroller gets on the bus and he instantly regrets it! Passengers on the public transit bus put him in his place! They instantly informed him of the policy. This takes place on a city bus in Detroit, Michigan.

VIEWS AND OPINIONS EXPRESSED IN MY VIDEOS ARE MY OWN AND DO NOT REFLECT MY EMPLOYER.
FOR ENTERTAINMENT PURPOSES ONLY!
Here in Minneapolis Metro Transit has been ordering the newer 40' buses with more individual fold-up aisle facing seats in the low floor section to better accommodate riders with a walker, stroller, shopping basket, suitcase, etc. Definitely makes it easier for getting up the aisle to the back of the bus and also gives a better space to folks who need to travel with something.
In Japan, japanese buses has ada and stroller space.
Here on London buses, we can have 2 strollers on the bus without needing to fold them up. Any further strollers that come onto the bus, would need to be folded - But then If a wheelchair comes along, they have priority over the second stroller, so then 1 would have to be folded up in order to accommodate the wheelchair.
Just when you think you’re the only city that has to deal with strollers and inconsiderate people.
They removed a row of seats on our buses in New York,it was supposed to be a pilot program on certain routes but then they did it to all of them. Its only one spot
Someone once tried to bring a Walmart shopping cart on the bus. I had to tell him, "You can't bring those with you!"
so sad!
I don’t care how much they argue. I let them know if they don’t comply, I will tie up that bus indefinitely… and then we have a conversation about how much I’m getting paid to sit there and do nothing while everybody else ain’t gettn paid to sit there and go nowhere. They threaten me. Then I tell them I’ll tie that bus up all day all night all week all month because as I said, I’m getting paid by the minute.
Customer: “Ha! Now I made you late for your break!”
Me: “Child you held this bus up for 20 minutes, and for 20 minutes we went nowhere. I already had my break - *HA!”*
Who's up for some free overtime lol
@@Intersteighty 😂
Yes!! Please make a video on the bus differences.
In Portland, Oregon on TriMet, you can bring your stroller and cart on the bus provided there is room in the handicap area to store it. It. You do have to take your baby out of the stroller otherwise the driver will not move the bus.
Yes do a vid on the old vs the new buses 😍
The open-stroller program is only at 1 depot in each borough in NYC. It is designated for 1 standard size stroller only. The depots are Castleton, Ulmer Park, Eastchester, Tuskegee Airmen, and Casey Stengel
Thanks for that!
Every city transits bus as different rules when it comes to baby strollers. I have been a transit bus driver in Chicago and Memphis, and both agencies have different policies.
MTA started open stroller bus programs on several nyc buses for pilot programs. On nyc buses only 1 space. On regular buses, stroller space are near rear door. On articulated buses, it's near center door. Some new blue buses with strollervand USB outlet are folded seat. I used to help on stroller buses in nyc.
Nice! Thanks for the info!!
Yup, it started last year as a Pilot Program.
@@BusDriverLifeyup and there are buses with this feature too

Usually I tell the mothers who don't like folding up strollers to just use the wheelchair straps and tiedowns. When wheelchairs actually get on then you have to break it down or fold it up. It all works out. As long they keep the isle clear for safety reasons.
U make them fold up
In my depot in Brooklyn, NY. We have no buses with the stroller area , so we still use the close stroller policy.
The only thing with New York, is that you lose an extra row of seats (2). They just started doing this. I don’t understand why they can’t just make one of those fold up seats like the acessible use so we still don’t have to lose the seats. Then I would be OK with it 6:02
There usually is only 1 spot (it is new within the year) and 2 acessible wheelchair spots.
In Serbia, it is recommended that the child be in the arms of the parents, it is not an obligation. I don't have as many problems with the passenger as in the video, I have more problems with people who bring animals without being in the prescribed transporter. This is where a serious problem arises because they enter through the fourth door. you see in the crowd.
The silver lining is it's actually nice to see the rest of the passengers playing by the rules and calling him out on the BS, rather than just sit there and pretend not to notice or blame the driver. There is hope for humanity! 🙌
We are told the rules when it comes to strollers and carts, but it is not posted on our busses anywhere, and it's basically up to the individual driver on whether or not they want to enforce it. I'm the type of driver that doesn't mind the large strollers, as long as there is enough room for a passenger to be able to "slide" through. It's not worth the stress or time to wait while someone empties or folds up a stroller, IMO.
I think more agencies should follow NYC MTA’s lead. If the bus is for all of us, then it should be as accessible as possible. Parenthood is something people need assistance with and those using public transit are no exception.
I agree. I've been that parent trying to fold down my stroller before I get on the bus while trying to hold a baby, a backpack, a diaper bag and maybe even a couple bags of groceries. Oh yeah, plus lugging the stroller on board while schlepping all of this other stuff. It's a lot to ask of us, so it was a huge relief when my transit authority did away with that policy. The drivers in my life were relieved too, since it removed another potential source of passenger conflict. I never griped to my drivers about it even though I hated the policy, because I know they have zero control over it, but plenty of people don't think twice about being abusive.
You prams need to fold up people with disabilities need to sit there not prams
RTA (so CTA and Pace) require folding of all strollers, however CTA drivers tend not to enforce it. its such a pain in the butt. to enforce.
It’s definitely a pain to deal with..similar here in Sacramento
American buses look completely different to UK buses
7:25 YES
Young man! I can tell your a good operator. Be proud of yourself!😄
Thank you!!
6:48 I remember seeing one of these roll up the highway toward Sac back in 2015 -- one of the first 93 Gilligs. Can you believe these are 9 years old now (as of this comment)?
If you ever rode public transportation in Dayton, OH you would see a ton of this behavior on certain bus routes. My city is mostly Gillig bus fleet.
😮 2220?!?!
I had that one last night (Tuesday night) block 2501 on the 87.
You didn't get the leftover valentines day candy I left in the overhead driver's compartments just for you? 😅.
Just kidding.
I do enforce the baby stroller policy but the utility cart I'm more laxed about that.
Also I'm from Detroit and haven't been on a D-DOT bus since I was a kid.
Did you notice the wheelchair passenger facing backwards?
To me that makes sense if the bus comes to an abrupt stop and keeps them in the chair.
when people ride buses in brampton ontario like ZUM and brampton transit there might be more space for moms to put their babys in the bus with stroller its also happening with MiWay the transit from mississauga and GO in toronto and TTC from toronto
Most of our European busses have 3 folding side facing seats on each side to crate two spaces which are prioritised for wheelchair, strollers, or seating in that order generally. This gives them more than enough space to support even a large electric wheelchair unlike the foldable seats your bus has. Granted at the cost of losing up to three seats per side when the space is needed depending on the size of the wheelchair or stroller that needs to be accommodated. This probably has a lot to do with the strict rules on disability access in the EU so the public transport systems for some 700 million or so people demand this.
This rule is the most foreign thing for me yet to learn on your channel. A bus that doesn't allow children to stay in their strollers would cause national outrage here in Germany. There is always at least one, oftentimes 2 large areas for strollers in buses here.
The main reason I have the stroller folded is because a lot of the time they are not holding on to the stroller or whatever else. If I have to emergency brake or simply turning could cause it roll. In my 25 years as a transit bus operator I have seen strollers or whatever else come flying up front. They have to comply or they don't ride.
Here in Fort Wayne it pends on the bus route and the drivers and the busyness of the route
And scooters?
Can you do a video about driving in inclement weather. Was thinking about this last night while driving in the western Washington rain. Unless oh yeah you're in Sacramento you don't get bad weather. 😅
some transit system will prohibit large strollers during peak hours to keep seats available
On this issue, I am legally blind and now use a power chair. I understand that in the wheelchair areas on UTA buses people who have disabilities themselves have a stroller and some of those disabilities may be invisible but some people don't have disabilities but they will put their carts and suitcases etc in the wheelchair areas which I don't like. In the 80's and 90's the policy in Utah on the UTA was that if you had a stroller or cart you had to fold it but today in 2024 that has been relaxed.
No Toronto in as long as it is in the handicapped spot seat up
NY if you try bring a shopping cart on the bus, the driver can just pull off
Something like that happened in Prague few years ago, there were 2 strollers, but only 1 place for stroller, so bus driver told second woman that she has to wait for another bus because he can't take another one (they have responsibility for their health in case of something happens), it ended also with police arrival, becuase that second woman was a typical Karen. 😀
PLEASE DO A VIDEO ON THE DIFFERENCES OF THE 1500 AND 2200.
I will! 😎
I Australia ive had stupid women trying to fit 3 double strollers in. They wont even fit through the front door. They reported me because they can't fit , told my managers to get F%# for even listening to that complaint. No wonder they can't get bus drivers in Australia.
I enjoy your videos. The work you do for Sacramento and the region is very important. I’m happy to see you take pride in it.
Thank you very much!!
Eugene, Oregon LTD has the same stroller breakdown requirements. If there is a child then the child can stay in the stroller.
Eugene is my hometown, and I rode LTD all the time when I was growing up. Back then you never messed with a bus driver. I now drive for TriMet up in Portland.
@@TVHouseHistorian Hey there. I’ve been with LTD for over a month now and just got my CDL. EmX training next week and then on-route. LTD is hiring like mad. You should come here and get out of the jungle 😊
@@DaveLovesDriving OHHHHHH!! Don’t you believe I’m not tempted!!! A friend of mine, Pat Brand works there, and has been trying to get me to make the switch for the last 8 years. I’ve been with TriMet almost 9. It’s so hard to go from upper-middle seniority back down to low seniority. Then there’s the slight pay cut, and the retirement issue. How much does LTD’s pension pay? And what is the vesting period? Is it still 10 years? I miss Eugene.
GDRTA have the same rules as well with the strollers but most people don't listen to those rules.
My company yeah thats are policy And i think the USA buses are better.
Detroit ddot worked for them that's why I quit for low pay 16.00 hour now I'm going back 19.10 1500 bonus plus all the over time
I would be okay with open strollers with children in them if they fit in the handicap space. Strollers and other items in the aisle are not good, it makes it dangerous during an emergency. Thanks.
Good afternoon I’d like to ask does your yard or Sacramento has articulated buses?
Unfortunately no.
Do you all have the new2022 flyers yet , there sweet
No..I think they are sticking with Gillig for now
Would you like to get behind the wheel of a motorcoach in 2024?
Most definitely!
im ny mta is just 1
In Israel u have a space to put stroller/wheelchair.
But, if I have my groceries in my shopping cart, how am I supposed to fold it up? Would I have to remove all the content of the cart? 🤔
I think that is the intended policy..I personally don’t agree with that at all!!
Well I am surprised that transit systems in the US though extremely mediocre are not outlawed as they are anti-car and obviously a "communist idea" That being said and to my surprise this very ordinary bus you showed us is way better than most buses in large Canadian cities where I am from. Years after years large cities buy crap from the US in spite of the promise of having "new offerings".
Kick off stroller
That is stupid to make themtake everything out buggy buggy that's illifdal because buggies are for babies no can take any out that transport for them if wheel chairs get on so can buggies that's the box for where we are we have a person who gets on with a stroller which his a own mobile scooter which is not allowed at all why tell why is driver letting on😮😮😮annoy i want to say some thing
