    With the arrival of the Novablast 5, the price of the 4 went down, so I got a new pair of Novablast 4, and later next year I'll go with the 5 if nothing better is on the market at that time

    Bought the Novablast 5 and the Novablast 4TR. Went for a quick run in both, with an increase in pace in both. I immediately prefered the feel of the NB4. Felt faster, and more responsive. So I returned the NB5. I'm on the heavier side, and am a forefoot striker. Oh and the grip on the TR version is exceptional. A plus in the autumn/winter months. 👍🏾

      how is the grip on NB4TR?

    • @ilike79
      @ilike79 День тому +1

      @@MrJermson The grip is a serious step up from the normal version of the shoe. Good in wet conditions. Great for light trails. Even noticable on dry roads. Also due to there being more rubber underfoot, the durability of the outsole significantly increases. The increase in weight due to there being more rubber is hardly noticable, and the ride of the shoe is pleasant on the roads. The only down side, is that there are only two colour options, when it comes to the NB4tr.

      I own the NB4 TR as well and it's the best daily shoe I've ever owned. Couldn't be more happy. I was wondering whether it's worth upgrading to the 5s as well or buy another pair of 4 TR.

    I've done just on 100k in my pair of Novablast 5 now, I'm really enjoying them for my daily easy running. They are fine for doing some strides at the end of an easy run, but I feel like they don't feel so great for tempo or threshold paces which I used to feel the Novablast 4 was quite good at. My local running store owner said that slight shift in use case will make more sense when asics release some new models towards the middle of next year.

    Really appreciate this review. Validates my decision to buy a second Novablast 4 at my local Asics outlet right before the V5 was released on a bogo deal. I definitely prefer a slightly firmer shoe, and while the v4 outsole isn't great, I did do a rainy half marathon in them last weekend without any slipping and sliding.
    Weirdly enough, I find myself reaching for the NB4 over the Superblast 2 (I know, I don't get it either).

    Glad you got hold of it for the unbiased review. Have v4 and find it a bit bland (neither cushioned or responsive). The outsole is terrible on v4 and I don’t use in low light (which is most morning runs) or damp and wet (most of the rest of the days until summer!). Too bad the outsole isn’t fixed or I’d consider the other improvements given the price. Superblast 2 has no such grip issues or the SL2 so I’ll stick with them for now.

I bought your level 4 Half Marathon training plan, really enjoying it so far but just wondering your thoughts on my easy runs: if I run to heart rate my easy runs tend to be 5:45-6:00/km, but in the plan it's asking me to run my easy runs 5:04-5:36/km - what should I do? hit the paces or aim to keep it within heart rate? While I could sense a slight bit of slippage, I wouldn't say it was anywhere near the pair of Novablast 3s I owned. I do prefer a softer novablast now the superblast range exists. The original novablasts felt like they had a nice USP but now the Superblast exists I felt they can overlap but now the ASICS line has better range

    Mate I genuinely don't know how you have such a bad grip in wet weather. I ran a super hilly half marathon race in the Novablast 4 and had great grip, I was actually surprised at how grippy it was. And for reference I was doing like 3min/ km in the downhills, under the rain.

    As of today (10 Dec) There are ZERO, as in no sizes or colours, of Mens NB5 on the UK Asics site. I guess somewhere a shipping container has gone missing for EVERYTYHING to be listed as "coming soon"
    Ive been a big fan of Nb1-3 but I find myself slower in the 4th version. No idea why. Makes me question whether I'll get the 5th version if its softer...
    Also as Ben mentioned in the video. The laces are RIDICULOUSLY long. I ended up chopping my down

      If you want a simpler shoe that‘s less clunky for slower daily training, where the Superblast might feel overkill (like a brick)

      @@xDubFreak all the reviews say it’s actually really light and nimble for the bulky look, abit confusing

    • @xDubFreak
      @xDubFreak День тому +1

      @@andrewmason32 it is indeed really light and nimble but the midsole is quite stiff, whereas the novablast has more give. Therefore, the Novablast is a better no-fuss daily trainer whereas the Superblast can feel clunky at slower paces. This stiffness is what makes the Superblast great at longer distances, however. I think the Novablast shines as a daily trainer whereas the Superblast is suited more towards fast and longer runs.

    Love how the grip on this line has been abysmal for three models straight and ASICS are still refusing to improve it. It's made me a lot more hesitant to buy their shoes in future. They used to be my go-to brand.

    Im a big asics fan, but just stick to their lower stacked models (hyperspeed, tartheredge). No one is really doing reviews on the low stack shoes "of recent" which id love to see. Tried the novablast 4 and it did not work well for me. Too much stack height, foam, cushion, etc. Felt like running in quick sand. But great for mall-walking. 😊

    Its so impressive that Asics can produce so awesome shoes with so poor outsoles. I barely use my Superblast 1 anymore due to the outsole. Its always damp where I live, and its just too risky.
    It must be so easy to add a good outsole to it.
    If Puma, Nike, and Adidas can do it to their budget shoes (Velocity, Pegasus, and SL2) then Asics should also be able to add something that grips in wet.
