I forgot to mention to you Paul that the stop start now works more regularly after resetting it on my 14 reg fiesta the other day. So thank you again for the helpful advice. I’ll definitely be looking out for when it does decide to stop working and then carry out the reset again, I’ve seen your other one about the radio and I don’t have that one yet. In future of hoping for a new or used Fiesta sometime, but unfortunately I know that Ford aren’t making anymore fiestas which is a shame.
I’ve tried it and it’s worked, I turned the ignition on to the second turn to switch the electrics on, put my front headlights on not dipped but the normal headlights as if I was going to drive in the dark, pressed my rear headlights five times, on then off fives times then three times for my hazards and shortly after the red battery light flashed a few times to signal the reset. Thank you Paul!!! Hopefully it’ll work now for when I stop at lights and put the handbrake on and gears in neutral then taking my foot off the clutch.
@@1stdrive no problem Paul, I had to go and try it out just to see if it really worked. Thankfully it did, I even tried it out by driving around the car park but it didn’t work then so wait til I’m on a bit of a longer drive tomorrow and hopefully it’ll work. I do also have the battery on charge for now via the OBD socket. I’ll know what to do with it next time for when it stops working again. Thanks again Emma from Gateshead, Tyne and Wear
Thanks for the advice Paul, my stop start works now and again on a 14 reg Ford fiesta Petrol model for a few times then stops, even when I’ve charged the battery up for a day or two using a UV battery charger which you put on your dashboard and plug in your socket under your steering wheel. So it’s your rear fog lights x5 and hazards x3. I shall give it a try and let you know how it turns out
My Ford EcoSport (2020 plate) greyed out the stop start function. I got the battery replaced as it had basically had it but the stop start function remained greyed out! I followed the reset video. Bingo! It's worked!! Thank you so much! Saved me £'s as had I taken it to the garage I would have been charged something ridiculous no doubt! 😮
Same for me, mine had a new battery after 5 years but it didn't fix the start/stop. A good garage would do this very cheaply but I can imagine some main dealers charging you £80 for an hour's labour.
I waited to get home before trying, just to not look like a dumbass that does random fake things he found on the internet, but it worked!! The start&stop in my car is disabled since last year and now it works! Thank you
You have to get the timing right for this to work. The speed you flash the lights and how you press the brake make a difference. It took me several attempts to get it working and I found the main thing to be that you must wait a while for the system to fully load as I mention.
Unexpected useful video of the day goes to you, I take it this would work on a focus too? I have a 2019 focus. The stop start as you say only ever seems to work after the car has been on a long run (over an hour) Question, with the system being ‘reset’, does this alter any other settings etc? Such as the radio pre sets etc etc
I don't know if it will work in a Focus but if not, there will be a similar way of doing it. It didn't reset anything such as the stereo in my car which happens if you disconnect the battery for 20 minutes as I've heard recommended.

It didn’t initially, the battery light flashed etc like in this video but the start stop didn’t start working again immediately, however it did a few days later from memory My new issue is that I’m getting a ‘emergency call function malfunction service required’ that I can’t get rid of (nothing to do with this though, this is in the last few days)
Very interesting. My 2019 Honda is very conservative. If the battery level drops, stop-start disables…. If I take a long drive….no change. The system monitors what the battery does. On day 3 of doing short daily commutes, the system re-engages. If my daily commute were longer (it’s 9 miles each way) this prob wouldn’t happen. I understand from Google, the original version of this tech on the prev jazz wasn’t conservative enough and a few people were left stranded…typically on roundabout junctions etc….so they didn’t take any chances when the new model was launched. Broken down Japanese cars - not a good look! They also put in plenty of exceptions when stop start is blocked. Using air con set to LO Risk of misting up even if Air con off (dew sensor) Moving the steering wheel Undoing a seatbelt Releasing the brake pedal even in neutral with the parking brake on.
Hi Paul how is your fuel consumption? That may stupid but when I put new battery is allot better when you start engine with low battery voltage is very low that could be make allot errors on computer
The consumption is the same as always. Apparently this is a common problem where the sensor just goes funny but it might be caused by the battery dying, as was the case for me.
Hi Paul can you please tell me if this will work on my frod fiesta active 2020, the problem, I have is the other day a orange warning light, came on and the engine cut out, I stared it again but now the stop /start symbol l on the dashboard, is greyed out all the time and stop /start not working! or do I need to go to a garage?

Did it work on your Focus? Stop start in my Focus has stopped working too.

If you've had an orange warning light come on then it's something you need to get checked at a garage.
