hey man i have a question, my bmx bike crapped out on me. the bearings in the crank broke. And i have a mountain bike that sucks ass but the crank is fine could i use mountain bike crank bearings in a bmx bike crank?
@omarnomade It really depends on what your goals and limitations are. Generally, steel is easy to work, to weld, but is heavier than aluminum. Iron is a component of making steel, but iron on its own would be a terrible choice for a bike -- too bendy. Steel, and specifically 4130 (a strong alloy steel), is a great choice for building bikes -- it's cheap, and easily welded and formed. Bikes can be welded with oxy-fuel, MIG, or TIG. Or brazed.
They do have some bending forms, but for cool angles like they use you'd have to do it by hand. if it was just like U-shape bends, then a machine could do it easy.
Holy crap, I'm just like this guy hahah. Maybe not on his level of production, but doing the same stuff, welding, chopping bicycles up, and glass blowing. XD
i like the rib cage ones, with the hearts... it's like you're riding on the back of an animal....or like a really really small horse getting back to basics with a recently emerging art form
I think the bikes with "hearts" of glass look so cool. I'd love to know how much one of those costs but, I fear the answer will shock me! lol I think it's great he does something he loves to do. He should start to build beyond Bikes and maybe make his own "terminator" like robot. Those would be cool too.
I like your work this is way i ever think of.I have all the tools but not all creat like this.I think you are the one of the best i ever seem yet tumbs up. ps,i get my parts from zoombicycle goog people.
Talk about suffering for your work!!! HF If you're so worried about how much work you put into it and letting go for 1 of your babies. Why not just use some of that money To buy a pipe bender that way you don't have to suffer that much besides when you get as old as me you'll thank your younger self.
@thisgame2 No bad. Questions clear the mind. I wonder as I watch that vid whether or not he isn't sweating so much becuz he's in pain, or is he just nervous. Probly just nervous, but he looked awfully uncomfortable. I'm building a set of wheels today; my first set also. I started a thread at MTBR.com concerning a tensiometer I was building; you might like it. Search "Spoke Tensiometer" or "Xstar" and you should be able to find it. The link at the top is for a Wheel stand I built out of PVC.
This guy is a fantastic artistic engineer with a vision and is way ahead of his time. He belongs in Holland with the lovely Dutch not with the limited torture mongers.
Yes there is a bending machine that you can use, but i think you´ll need s to sell more than 1 o 2 bikes to get the money,. those machines are expensive
i would recommend some bending tools. If he's hurting himself doing it he's limiting his ability to do real precision bends. Brute force doesn't have the control he really needs to do his best work.
I gave 5 stars because the quality of the video is awesome and the bikes are just as good
Best of luck to Josh Hadar and his creative endeavors. That was pretty awe inspiring to watch.
