I actually found this machine at my local planet fitness that hit my biceps like nothing I’ve ever felt. I think having the pads supporting the elbows makes a huge difference!
Watching this, I was wondering if you would get a better workout if you had a low-situated cable instead of the dumbbell, since the pull would always be forward instead of down. Compared to the triceps, it seems like it might be viable.
Sure. The pull more forward can be achieved if you have room to back away from the pulley. This machine is set up close to the mirror so no room to do that. Give it a try but gets pretty crazy hard once the cable line is less than 45degrees (flat) so the range also gets smaller
@@MrNovaStreams ok if you face away from the cable and it’s low position you can do what feels like a half range curl which will be pretty punishing. It will just feel it drops off as the cable eventually lines up with your forearm. But can be crazy loaded at the lengthened position. Just make sure you don’t relax at the “bottom” since it’s loading shoulder and elbow. Try that and shoot me a note.
There is some changes in scapular motion/challenge. This will change some of the head dominance. Most people have trouble controlling scapula and as you change load the scapula moving around is robbing your tricep workout.
Love these fine tuning tips guys. Keep them coming 👍👍

@@ericseifert6107 Ah, I see. I definitely need to figure out a better way to isolate for my curls. I wish I had a preacher pad.

What does moving sideways when doing the single arm pushdowns do? Change activation of long head Vs lateral head of tricep?
