Have you ever stayed at Fort Wilderness? Let us know down below! 👇👇👇
We living vicariously through your adventure. Considering this is your first Fort stay, your tips are amazingly spot-on! Our first stay was 48 years ago in March '74 on our honeymoon. While we have not been able to attend in the last 10 years, we have made 12+ trips staying at the Fort (tents, cabins, camp model trailer-when they had them, and motor homes), the Lodge, Contemporary, Polynesian Village, and Grand Floridian. We agree that the Fort is not overpriced. Our typical stay was 10-14 days. A stay at the Grand Floridian that long now would be 50% of the cost of a DuneSport bumper pull wheelchair-accessible toy hauler. We know this because we are looking. Thanks again. Please keep it up.
Awe I love hearing that! (Except that you guys haven't been able to get back recently) We are SO glad we got to stay there. I think it's reasonably priced, especially for Disney. So glad you got to watch our stay! ❤
My husband and I honeymooned at the Fort 48 years ago. I could tell you sooooo many stories! Being 1 1/2 hours away, we frequented the Fort up until 2019 and then we got the bug for the NW Georgia Mountains. In 2002, 2003, and 2004, we wintered there for four months. Yep, you heard that right, 4 MONTHS! It's addictive! It's time we passed on the torch to the younger generations. Enjoy yourselves!
Awe I love hearing that! It's such a special place. The Georgia mountains needs to be on our list! It's another place we've never been
More special than Fort Wilderness in the winter has to be Key West. Enjoy guys and have all the fun. 🙂🙂🙂
We still haven't made it to Key West! We've heard it's absolutely gorgeous though 😍
Great video that’s beautiful Rv park ! I wish you both a safe travels and happy camping
Thank you so much friend! It really was a beautiful park 😍
Love Fort Wilderness! Glad you guys enjoyed it, thanks for bringing us along.
We can't wait to go back! Thanks for coming along for the adventure Wayne 🥰
I'm glad you enjoyed your stay! We used to go in our pop up with the kids at least twice a year. We called it faux camping. lol Many times we didn't even go to the parks, but stayed in the campground and enjoyed all it has to offer.
Mike and I talked about just staying at the campground and not even going to the parks! That would still be such an amazing trip 😍
Stay there all the time🤩 awesome video guys keep up the great work🙏
It's a great place! Thanks so much!+
Heading down in May...first to Jetty Park then Ft Wilderness. been going to Ft Wilderness since it opened and our kids were 6 mos, 4 yrs, 7 yrs, and 13 yrs....they are now 39, 43, 47 and 53!!! We still love it. We've had a pop-up camper, stayed in their cabins and now (we're over 75 and want comfort) in out LTV with its queen size bump out and all the bells and whistles. Ft Wilderness never disappoints.
Aw I bet those are incredible memories! So cool that you've seen it through the years and in different ways ❤ thanks for watching, have a great trip in May!
Thanks!
Thank you so much!! Khali says that's more treats for her! 🤣🤣
We were just there for 10days. Arrived last weekend of Feb, 10 nights 8days in the parks. Weather was perfect albeit a lil cool for a few days. First timers too for the Fort.
Wow, I bet 10 days there was great! And 8 in the parks would give you so much time to see them 😍 thanks for watching!
We love the Fort, the only place we stay when visiting Disney! 5 stays so far, hoping for 6 this year!
Jealous you've been so many times! That just proves how amazing it is ☺
Seriously love Fort Wilderness...went the second week of February. Beautiful weather..absolutely recommend this campground..cannot wait to go back. We stayed 8 nights and still was not ready to leave and come back to snowy, freezing Ohio. We got a premium campsite, close to marina. Not paying ridiculous prices for food is wonderful. Just bring your own. We enjoyed the campground more than the parks. Crazy busy..nerve wracking busy. I will stay and may not even go to the parks.....safe travels to you, and thanks for sharing 😊
That's how we felt! The money we saved just having our own food and kitchen helped justify the cost of the park. So glad you enjoyed it, happy travels!
Great video guys. Thanks for the tips. Glad to see Steph has thawed out!!! You have the best RV couples channel and we look forward to every video!
🤣🤣🤣 she's still thawing out! We are so happy to here that you enjoy our little channel, it's still shocking that people like us! 🤪
I remember camping in our 1972 Skamper Pop Up camper in Fort Wilderness Campground in the 1970s when I was a kid with our family 💰😎👍 Great to see Fort Wilderness remains a 5 star Campground. Glad I found your channel Subscribed & Liked 👍
Oh that's so cool you have those memories!! We really enjoyed our time there and can't wait to visit again. I'm so glad you found us and subscribed, welcome to the family!! ❤️
I car camped here beginning of February (I have a SUV tent that connects to my small SUV) for 3 days - got a golf cart ahead of time and it was a blast! Comfort stations are impeccable. Then I moved to Art of Animation and got upgraded to Cars Suite for 2 nights and then moved to the Contemporary. It was probably one of the best vacations ever. Next time, I will stay longer at Fort Wilderness.
Oh wow, that sounds like such an amazing trip! We saw several people tent camping - those comfort stations looked like they were really clean which would make it easy to stay that way!
My wife and I go every year to the Fort with kids and grandkids…..sometimes alone….glad you like it. The Fort is a great place to stay. Great Video!!!
That sounds like a great family trip! It's a really nice park and we can't wait to come back. Thanks for watching, Joseph!
Love all the creative golf carts and the holiday decor in the RV park...thanks for the hot tips for Fort Wilderness and safe travels to your next adventure. xoxo Michelle & Sugar
There were so many cool golf carts! I'd love to visit during the holidays someday - we've heard so many sites go all out with decorating. Thank you so much friend 💗
Fort Wilderness is our FAVORITE resort, and we've stayed at many over the years. We love it in our 5th wheel. This year we're trying the cabins for the first time. So glad you got to enjoy it!
Ooo really?! We never got to look at the cabins, you'll have to let us know how they are! We've talked to so many people that have said it's their favorite RV spot, and we see why! Thanks for stopping by, guys!
@@lifererouted We're excited! The cabins are a great way to enjoy FW when you don't have time to drive down. :-) Thanks for the video.
Monday my family is staying in the cabins at fort wilderness for a week and I did order a golf cart. So excited
Have fun!
Great video! I have been interested in Fort Wilderness for years. So happy to get your perspective! Looking forward to learning where your next job will be.
Thank you Claudia!! We had heard about it for so long and didn't think it would live up to the hype - but we were impressed!
We go all the time. Great video guy's!
Jealous! Thanks so much 🥰
Halloween is the best here! As well as spring break!!! THE BEST!!!!
Oh I didn't even think about Halloween, I bet that would be so cool! Do they do trick or treating in the campground?
@@lifererouted YES!!!! All over! It’s amazing!
That would be incredible! We'll have to try to make it for Halloween someday I guess 😁
Thank you for this great review. Now to convince the husband... Blessings on all of your future trips.
Thank you so much!! It's definitely pricey but tell him it's worth it!
We have a 7 night trip to the Fort planned and booked for February 2023. Going to be driving from Kingston Ontario! Long drive, but should be soooooo worth it once we get there! Thanks for the video
7 nights will be so great, and February seems like a perfect time to go!! Definitely a long drive but you're right, it'll be worth it 🥰 thank you!
This is the best campground ever!
It definitely exceeded our expectations!
Cool video. Alway wonder about Fort Wilderness. Thanks and safe travels!
Thank you so much! We had wondered about it for a couple years now too and decided it was time to visit!
Thanks for the tips. We just bought our first RV, an Imagine 2600RB. Have been talking about possibly going to Disney in ‘23. We love Disney but have never been to Fort Wilderness. This video was helpful. Thanks, Diana
That's awesome! We have the same rig, and have enjoined it for years now. Fort Wilderness is a great place to go! Thanks for watching, Diana. Happy travels!
Nice! Hope to do this someday! Thanks for the laugh with the early release yesterday 😅
It's definitely worth the visit in our opinion! Haha we were like immediate forhead slap when it released early....poor Khali dog got the blame 😆
We are staying the first time at end of April.
Booked our golf cart through a third party “tee time golf carts” about half the price of Disney.
You meet them off property and they provide a trailer to drop the cart off at the overflow lot.
Oh nice! We heard when we were there that there were companies off site to rent from but didn't look into it. That's convenient that they provide a trailer!
We stay at The Fort every other year for 14 to 16 days. We love this place...
That sounds amazing! And 2 weeks seems like it would be the perfect length of time 👌
We went to the Fort back in 2017 in our teeny tiny travel trailer. LOVED it! We have plans to drive down there again this summer with our Reflection 5th Wheel. Only wish is to have time to stay for 2 weeks instead of 1. Spread out the parks and just have more time to enjoy the fort!
Oh that's awesome! I hear you on the 2 weeks instead of 1 - I feel like you could spend 2 weeks just exploring the fort!
We stay all the time and loooove it!!
Ugh we would love to go all the time, it was awesome!
@@lifererouted it was our first campground experience. Definitely ruined us for other campgrounds 🤣
Hahaha I can imagine!
We loved staying at Ft Wilderness a few years ago. We did a fabulous behind the scenes tour. I forget what it was called-maybe “Behind the Magic.” Highly recommend!
Oh wow that sounds so cool! Was it a behind the scenes of Fort Wilderness or of the Disney parks?
I've been coming to fort wilderness my entire life, and my mom had been going when she was a kid since it opened. It's my absolute favorite part of Disney. You should try to go during Halloween when everyone decorates.
Oh wow, I bet it has been really neat to see how it's changed over the years! I hadn't even thought about the Halloween decorations until someone else mentioned it, we'd love to see that!
We loved staying at Fort Wilderness! We’ve gotten a cart once and once we didn’t. I highly recommend reserving one ahead of time as well. Haha especially with tired kids in tow. Lol
Oh definitely, I can imagine it's a life saver at the end of the day with tired kids 😆 We learned our lesson about reserving in advance, don't think we'll luck out like we did again!
Hey great video. And thanks for the tips. My wife and I really enjoy all that Disney has to offer. And we are big fans of learning all that is available without extra costs. And. Thanks for including the price per night. That’s helpful. This RV park is on our bucket list. 😁
Thank you, Dan! I will say that the Fort's prices vary throughout the year, but if you can get in at a lower rate like we did it's a really good deal. Glad you enjoyed it!
Great video. Enjoy your vacation!
Thank you so much Ellen!
Great video thanks for sharing
Thank you so much James!
I love this! I’m so glad you had a great time! I can’t wait to see where is next up and what can be more exciting than this! Safe travels! Jane in SC🙏🏻❤️
Thank you Jane! We are so lucky to do all these travels (and excited for what's next too!) and even luckier to have you along 🥰❤
Smells like pines here! Haha
Hahaha I was cracking up when we saw that clip....too good to not include 🤣 I was hoping someone would stick around till the end and see it!
We love ft wilderness was there in November for my birthday and the dog park is awesome.
Aw that sounds like an amazing way to spend your birthday! And yes! The dog park was great, we were surprised by how dog friendly it was 😊
@@lifererouted we will be back again we go to Orlando about 6 times a year we have a grand design 337RLS 5th wheel. We love it.
We love staying at the fort for spring break!! This will be the 12th time we have driven the 3300 mile round trip from cold Minnesota to enjoy some Florida sunshine! Definitely get or bring a golf cart! Looping is fun in the evenings. Half the time we don’t even go to the parks”very busy”! We will use the amenities the fort has to offer. Plus we will ride the boats and monorails to explore the other hotels Disney has. We will also use the Disney transportation to take us to Disney Springs and the Disney golf courses! Love the fort! But it is $250 a night for a meadows campsite. We mostly grill our own food and eat out a couple of times. But at night we get to sleep in our own beds!!! After Disney we make a run to Siesta key beach in Sarasota for a couple of beach days before heading back to the snow.
That's awesome! We lucked out with getting a golf cart for sure. I didn't realize the meadow sites were that expensive 😯 have fun on your next trip down! Happy trails, Scott!
We love it there! Have you checked out Manatee Springs State Park! Recommend it!
We haven't - we'll have to add it to our list to visit some day! Thank you!
this video answered many of the questions i had about fort wilderness. Thanks so much and happy to hear you had a great vacation. We are driving there from canada in August. one question i cant seem to get an answer to is What's the easiest way to book a golf cart in advance?
Great to hear!! We went up to the office to book it. They're very popular!!
We found you can drive to the overflow lot out front of the fort, and catch a bus to whatever park or disney springs you are going to. Then you only have to get about 1 bus
Ooohhhh that's a nice hack! We were riding our bikes or walking up front but that would seriously save time 😱
Woo hoo. We love #lifererouted
Awww we love you too!! 🥰
Great video! Could ya'll (or more specifically, Khali) hear the fireworks from the campground? Our pup is also afraid of thunderstorms and fireworks so curious if she would be OK at Fort Wilderness with the nightly fireworks shows across the water.
Aww Khali says thanks for asking!🐶 We really couldn't hear them in the camper, maybe a faint distant rumble? Our site was close to the front though; if your site is closer to the marina you might hear them a lot louder. Hope that helps, thanks!
@@lifererouted Thanks for the feedback! I bet site location makes a huge difference.
We stayed there for a week in January and a week in February. You forgot to mention early theme park entry as a benefit. Since you are staying on property, you can get into the theme parks 30 minutes early.
Really good point, Richard! Thanks for pointing that out
I have been to Fort Wilderness twice. Both times it did disappoint. Thinking about going again, might bring my Dog Stuart (70 pound Golden) this time around, there is a kennel just around the corner. I miss him the last time I was there. I had the same meal from the Colombian food truck. I hope to get reservations for Halloween.
We've heard Halloween is an amazing time to be there! And people seem to like the kennel there too. Hope you have a great trip when you go!
Love watching your channel, plus our daughter is a nurse; so hugs. Can you tell us what bike rack you are using on your TT and it you would recommend it?
Awe, thank you! 🥰 We have a Kuat that we have been really happy with amzn.to/34TgxB9
Definitely pricey, but our bike are rock solid and we love how easy they are to get on and off. Hope that helps!
@@lifererouted thank you!
Of course!
We’ve stayed there twice. Once in loop 100 and last August in loop 200. Do you mind sharing which site/loop you were in? Thanks for making these videos!
Oh that's awesome! We were in loop 1600, site 1606. We didn't request a certain one because we had no idea what we'd prefer but we were happy with it! Close to the front so we walked or biked to the bus stop in the mornings 🥰 I don't remember where 100/200 were - are they closer to the water? Thank you so much for watching them!!
@@lifererouted yes those two loops and loop 300 are nearest the marina. We were thinking of trying one of the 1600 through 1900 loops next time
Love your Harry Potter gear! Were the food truck prices the same as the high prices inside the parks? If you think about it, you'd pay more per night to stay at a VRBO off site in Orlando. I would take 50 degrees over below zero any day!!
Awe thanks! The food trucks were really reasonable, definitely cheaper than inside the park. Yea the price is really reasonable compared to your other options, and you get to stay on property! Thanks for watching!
Have a smaller travel trailer, stay in the partial hookups (W+E only), save about $35 a night, Disney will direct you to an open full hookup site to dump if you need it on checkout day since they don't have a dump station.
Oh wow, that's a huge savings! Do you know how small your camper has to be to stay in those spots?
@@lifererouted I've seen rigs in the 25 foot range staying on the partials, the 2000 loop spots are a little bigger than the 1500, the 1500 loop is a smaller loop with some tight corners so some could be a tight back in.
I’m 43 and have pics of me at the Fort when I was in diapers. I’m lucky enough that I live 1 hour away. We go every year. It’s expensive but my family loves it. I’m sad I don’t check in until June. 😂 Glad y’all enjoyed the trip
That's neat! We really enjoyed our stay. Hope you liked our trip!
Looks like a nice park
It really was!
So weird I was just looking into our Disney Trip for next year at Ft Wilderness
Ha good timing then I guess! Hope your trip is great 😊
if you stay at 1000 trails Orlando you can see the fireworks at the lake
Oh that's so cool! We hadn't heard that before 🎆😱
What are the pros and cons of bikes vs golf cart? We will be coming to Ft. Wilderness this next winter and were thinking about bringing our bikes instead of paying the extra money for a golf cart. Is it much of an advantage for one or the other?
Honestly we enjoyed just riding our bikes around! To me, the only advantage of golf cart over bikes would be when you're tired at the end of the day and don't want any more exercise 😆
I had no idea you could go camping in a basspro parking lot.
Yep! It's just boondocking with no hookups and we always call ahead to make sure it's okay. But it's a great spot for a one night stay!
I love camping at Fort Wilderness. We stayed there for 17 nights starting Oct 1st. I was disappointed with the internet access at my site, but everything else was wonderful. I did have a question for you. We got a puppy during the pandemic, and she grew to be 70 lbs of loving canine. We'd like to take her camping, but while she's still got that juvenile energy, we haven't. Since we hope to include her on trips in the future, I would like to know the experience of camp folks that take a big dog with them. Did you leave your dog in the camper while visiting the parks, or did you put her in doggy day care?
The park internet definitely wasn't the best, you're right. Aww yay for the new not so small puppy! We lucked out so much with our doggo - she does so well with camper life. We left her in the camper while we went to the parks but went back to check on her during the day. It all depends on your pups personality - I'd say try it in small stints and see how she does!
There is a Pet Hotel you can leave your puppy about a half mile from the Campsite. I train my crate train my Golden in his puppy years. When camping we would put him into a fold out crate. He is almost 4 now, I completely trust him in the camper. I do recommend a product called Waggle Pet Monitor to keep track of the temperature in the camper. The service will alert you if the camper gets too hot due to power outage.
Great video it looks beautiful. Me (Fabian) it my dream to bring my son there and I never even been to Disney. Becky have when she was younger. My question is when you pay for the fort wilderness is the Disney park included or is that a separate charge to visit?
Hey guys!! When we booked our site, there was an option to add on tickets (at a slightly discounted rate) so you do have to pay separately for them. That's something I didn't think to include in the video. Hope ya'll are doing well!
It doesn’t look very crowded??? Time of year or just the editing?
It was pretty crowded!
Without actually going into the parks what are some must do things either within the campground or other Disney locations?
Good question! The campground had so many activities! We didn't personally participate in many of them, but I'd definitely say visiting the food trucks while they're there and seeing the fireworks from the marina. As far as other Disney locations I'm not sure - we used to love just visiting the other hotels but I believe they're closed to visitors unless you have a reservation at a restaurant on site or are staying there. Hope that helps!
Did you have a choice of which site or loop would be in
I think they took suggestions, but we were just glad we found a spot!
We live up near crystal river Fl where the manatees are end up in this area let us know some beautiful hidden Jems in this area
That's such an incredible area! You might be familiar with where we're heading next 😉
@@lifererouted probably we’ve lived here about 20 years by the Rainbow river area enjoy the area if you need anything around this area don’t hesitate to holler
Never been there at all one day
It's definitely worth the visit!
I tell my friends to make it part of their Disney Experience even if you don't stay the night. Just tour the campground for half a day. You won't be sorry.
We actually went back with my family a couple weeks ago. We didn't have time, but I would've loved to have showed them around!
What was your site number? We have reserved a preferred site close to marina.
We stayed at site 1606! We were pretty close to the front which had its pros and cons, you'll be a lot closer to a lot of the activities in the campground by the marina!
I was searching Disney's Fort Wilderness and just found your channel. We are heading there this weekend coming up. Great video guys. I subscribed. ✌🏻 I started a channel recently myself on travel and reviews. Go check it out if you get the chance. We will be doing a video of Fort Wilderness too. I love seeing that you guys like to "Get out and explore! "
Great to hear! We LOVED it there. It's a must-do if you're an RVer. Thanks for the tips!
Thanks for the review. I don’t much care for background music so I did not like it.
Fair enough!
