I’ve come to the same conclusions about most of my cars. 4S is all you need to have a blast with most RC cars. Trucks, truggies whatever. More than that and it is really like strapping a rocket to a bike and hoping for the best. Which is also fun if you don’t mind spending all your time in the shop repairing them
@@GreatBirdOfHope yeah true. I guess I mean if you wanna run max power and speed without having to spend every evening making repairs. 4S is as high as you want to go. You can still run 50-70mph while having decent power for wheelies and backflips (with correct gearing) but not so much as to blow apart differentials, wheels and tires not to mention gears and motors. Over heating esc’s and all the fun that brings. 6S cars and trucks work well and last much longer if run at 4S
Yeah I'm coming to that conclusion now myself, 4s is the perfect amount of speed for driving around a track with jumps imo, 6s is great for going super fast in a straight line but it destroys your tyres and you're babying the throttle most of the time.
If I could only have one channel, this would definitely be the one I pick. I don’t even own a RC but this is just great to watch. Thank you for the content!
get into the hobby, even a cheapo chinese one, they're a hoot. One of the best horsing around buggy for a newbie is the wltoys 144001. Faster than hell, metal chassis, handles great, oil filled shocks. I picked one up for $90 CDN with free shipping. Easily the best bang for your buck.
@@ThanosWasRight300 yeah, the price has gone up a bit since I bought mine in may but they are still very very reasonable for what you get. there are tons of reviews on youtube about it, the general consensus its a great buggy. I have no ZERO complaints other than the motor does get hot, might pick up a heat sink for it.
I have fixed my Kronos, put a 1650kv motor in it. Center diff oil 100000, rear and front 10000. Dampers, front 600, rear 37.5. New drive train a bearing on the center diff been working on it for days and put a traxxas radio it. And the servo I have changed to a big fat savox. 12t pion, 6s. Changed the camber, totally changed it truggy wheels on it, i think my setup works very good. I also have a Losi 8ight xe that I setup perfect for where I drive.
Happy to be a Corally Fan boy as this truck deserves the credit where due. All RC's Break when being thrown off of skate park ramps and that includes all brands including the ARRMA EXB range. Have seen countless bent chassis and broken EXBs. We all have brands we love but have to be fair to Corally as these trucks are their first entries into the bashing market and they are doing quite well in my opinion. That may me controversial but oh well.. dont care not here to follow the crowd hehe!! 😋👍
I've been going back and forth for about a year now not knowing if i should pull the trigger on the Kronos, not crazy for Kraton like everyone else is, although i do like the Aarma brands. But this here, I love everything about it, the body, the look, and the speed but some viewer comments have made me hesitate. But hearing and seeing it from Kevin may now have tipped the balance. I may get it after all.
I love my kronos xtr. I bought aluminum steering rod ends from jennys rc specifically for corally. They come from "Japan sourcing" in japan. Total cost with shipping was $30.00
I used to love sitting there watching Knight Rider with my dad as a kid! Always thought about getting him the kit, but monthly takes the fun away. Wouldn't mind buying it all at once and sitting there with the old man building it one evening. 💯👌🏻 But now you have the kit Kev, maybe we can see you build it something a bit different? Then you could try squeeze some rc gear inside maybe! 🤷🏼♂️😂
i own a radix 6s and other than the shock lower end caps un threading themselves, its been rock solid on 4s, love it. 6s+ starts going out the fun zone and into crazy land LoL
So happy to see this video, and I agree, it’s not really a skatepark basher, although a few choice upgrades, radical rc bash bar and Jambo wheelie bar (or any wheelie bar you can suitably attach) my punisher is an animal, and I have yet to upgrade to 7075. Again thank you for trying again and giving it a second chance.
I bought one . In 10 minutes it was a dam jigsaw puzzle. If you are looking for a good steer servo. use ANAMOS. Full stainless steel gears. You can't beat it. It's the best.
honestly, the plastic chassis that traxxas has for their 1/10th scale cars are some of the best out there, they are durable, cheap (usually like 35-40 dollars), and light weight, one cannot go wrong with a good plastic chassis tbh. Also on the new servo recommendation, the perfect pass servo may be good, but it is also a 100 dollar servo compared to a solid budget one being around 20-30 dollars or even 10 dollars if you go super cheap.
I just picked up the older model (Kronos XP C-00172) in a black friday sale. Took it for its first real bash today at some dirt bike jumps and it honestly did quite well. The handling is great, stock servo honestly sucks but otherwise the only thing i broke was one of the plastic shock ends when i lost sight of it and landed badly. Its def a rocket on 6S though.
All I can say, I TOLD YOU.... These XTR are my best Handeling basher period and I actually think they ARE a Hardcore Basher IF you get the plastic steering links and Turnbuckles😍 then she good, the 7075 is WAYYYY better than Arrma and the Handeling is what does it for me. They really do make high quality RC, I have been Digging HoBao as well brother. Great vid Kev, see ya round
So I have been watching your videos for awhile now and I really do enjoy them. I recently got my first car and it's the WLTOYS 144001 and it is alot of fun. I was originally going to save up to get the 6s Typhon but had to use a good chunk of what I had saved for something else so I settled for the 144001. I definitely see that I really do need to go bigger because it's really hard working on that tiny car when I am wearing bifocals and my thumbs don't want to work very well. However, I have my first rc airplane coming in a few days and I suspect that I am going to like flying far more than driving and the beginner airplanes definitely seem to be very durable and easy to work on, so I suspect that I likely won't be getting another car any time soon.
My buddy at church wanted to get into rc's and that was my recommendation. That way if you don't like it your only out 100 bucks. First day driving it he slammed into a metal pole at full speed and bent the drive shaft. 😆 mew part ordered and driving class will be soon. He's probably about 45 years old but never too late to have fun.
@@coryharlow995 I'm 47 myself and the 144001 is alot of fun and I would definitely recommend it to another person just getting into it. My only complaint about it isn't even really about the car itself it's just the tiny little parts that are difficult to manipulate if you have any problems with your hands or fingers. And it's also very fast for such a little thing which surprised me because on video and in your head 30mph doesn't seem fast but seeing it first hand is a totally different story.
It's a great truck Kev, but everything is relative and it's all about perspective. I run mine on 6S because it's fun and extremely quick - I'm just careful with it. @@rustler08 oh yeah I know that it basically only reduces amount off amps dumped at once an doesn't effect voltage so 6s is always going to spin faster and higher than 4s but what I mean is when you're off throttle doing 25-30 mph and you get back on throttle again (especially if you're a throttle smasher) reducing the punch could mean the difference between doing a 30mph wheelie or it flipping straight on its back and blowing a tyre out. And if you're off an on throttle through the air making air control less aggressive
