Matt Allen me and my brother were sleeping on a bunk bed and I woke up around 8:00 am in the morning and I heard that exact same sound loud as hell and my brother was still asleep and when my brother heard it he said what the fuck Is that and I died laughing
I love sandhill cranes. I live on the west coast of FL, and there have been many a families came through here for the 40 years I've lived here. We have a pair that just had two babies. I love to watch them. I actually had the male pecking on my glass door last week. They are pretty comfortable around people, even cars.
out West here in the migratory path they're very timid. not so much cars but people. too close to where they're hunted, so I imagine those that survive are spooked.
I have these outside my house almost every day lol. I hear that sound all the time haha I love to hear those cute birds outside, it makes me very happy to hear. 007
I just took my puppy out and heard a strange noise. I looked up and there was around a dozen of these cranes circling. Eventually about 20 more caught up to them and they all continued north. Was So cool!
Aw, this is actually making me very nostalgic because we had Sandhill Cranes all around my old house when I was younger. This is a very familiar sound to me! ❤
I love sandhill cranes, we have 4-5 in the neighborhood and we adore them. One that often comes to our house is a pair. They don't allow us to come too close (and we don't) but they understand we are not a threat and that they are safe here. This beautiful bird will always remind me of home.
I live by a sandhill crane refuge and right now we have a set of mates hanging around putting on a show they come up while I'm playing guitar like it's intriguing to them or something
I absolutely love sandhill cranes..they are majestic and beautiful!!!! It is 10pm in florida..a flock of cranes just flew over...loudly calling. I CAN'T BELIEVE THEY FLY AT NIGHT!! OMG!!
I have been living in Florida for just 5-1/2 years, and when I first saw these birds, I felt like I was in Jurassic Park. I was in disbelief. I'm from Connecticut and never saw birds like this in person. They are beautiful birds and awesome to look at. I hope I can get a picture of them next time.
Dude, to get so close you are brave sir. Being from florida I have been attacked 2 times. They are very territorial. Beautiful birds don’t get me wrong, I love watching them walk around with their chicks.
Ha!! I knew it! I saw these guys when I took a trip to Florida last year. Just now, gardening in my front yard in CALIFORNIA, I heard this sound and saw a massive flock of birds flying overhead. I was too late to get the binoculars, but I looked this video up to see if I was right about the call. Sure enough, we just got a flock of Sandhill Cranes flying over our house :) What a treat!
I’ve had the pleasure of seeing these beauties up close like this in McHenry, IL where they also breed. This past weekend we saw large flocks of them flying over McHenry and it is a sight to see if you haven’t seen them fly. The V patterns are really neat and at times it was hard to see them because they fly very high plus their color blends in with cloudy skies until sunlight hits them. More times than not I heard them first then saw them.
Great audio!.....moved to west coast of FL 6 months ago...we always see these in the field behind the house. They walk down the road like the own it...lol. So cool watching them land in tandem on the street in our development. Usually hear them early in the mornings. I've used this audio behind the house and watch them perk up and look all around. lol.
They seem to maintain a territory even after it's been converted from an undisturbed natural space to something like a shopping center... (Personally, I despise the development of natural lands while so many of America's urban and suburban areas could be redesigned for efficiency.) One of my favorite sounds in Florida, to be sure. Thank you...
I live in Omaha, Nebraska, and have been out to experience the crane migration once, about 14 years ago. Imagine thousands of them all squawking at once! They do truly sound like dinosaurs. It was amazing and wonderful! Thank you for uploading this video so I could hear cranes again. 😇🙏
They migrate out of Illinois in the middle of December...huge flocks all following each other so high up and in the COLDEST weather and it doesn't bother them. I have total respect for these animals. They should be returning to our state any day now. I can't wait!
In mid-late May, a few pairs of Sandhill Cranes start arriving (from Florida/Cuba) on a marsh just outside our acreage here in Northern Saskatchewan (Canada). By late August the skies are filled with the racket of multiple families training their chicks to fly before setting out on their long migration south in mid - late September.
Been getting these in Vero Beach, Fl. Have a little fill lake that was made back in the 40s when they built my neighborhood. There’s a couple that like the lake and we hear this exact call flying through the neighborhood. It’s an amazing sound as they fly from one point to another.
We have huge flocks come visit our area. We have one pair that picked our neighbor's field/pond last year to raise their chick (it was later killed by a stray cat) and this year, they are in our field! They aren't nesting this year- I think they are still mourning.
I live outside Madison, Wisconsin, I've seen these walking around a few times, and today while taking my daughter for a bike ride we heard one calling (at first I thought it sounded like someone rubbing rubber together), but then we saw it flying around. It was amazing.
You've definitely captured their sound! It was within the last hour that I heard a continuous sound that I found was coming from a pair of the Sandhill Cranes as they were standing at the end of my street about a yard and a half away. I sincerely thought there was something wrong with the A/C unit next door or somebody's car fan belt was having issues!!! What a sound.
They used to wake me up every morning and then one would stand in front of my car door and make me late to work because he knew I wasn't going near his giant ass😂
I live on a small lake in north central Florida and we get sedges of Sandhill Cranes in our yard almost daily. They are so cool! On occasion we’ve had both deer and cranes in the yard at the same time. I moved here from rural Maine last year. I thought I saw a lot of wildlife in the Maine country. It’s nothing compared to what I see in the yard here in Florida! I’m in wildlife paradise here!!
I absolutely love these birds! We see/hear them so often where I live, and they're honestly such an eccentric piece of Florida's natural life that is just really nice to observe. If you like birds, that is. To think they were once on the endangered species list is a crime. But I'm so glad their population has made a comeback!
Love it! Another great video! I love sandhill cranes! Those look like they're pretty comfy there. Residents? We get visitors. Your dog is super awesome! He's just chilling & doesn't mind themat all. Tooo cute!
I live at the south end of lake Michigan so lots of birds migrate thru here and in the spring there are hundreds of sandhill cranes everywhere. The most I've counted in one group was around 800
They hang out here in sw Michigan, heard them often, thought they were turkeys.. I spoke to a bird rescue lady she knew by the sound i described what kind of bird, thus I pulled up video of such, and yes, wild bird call identified. They look like mini Ostriches don't they (their feather pattern and build) but much lankier and smaller of course.
South Orlando, I have a pair that nests somewhere around the lake across the street. Occasionally with babies. Doesn't seem to have any this year. They like to chase my cats, I've put up a few videos.
I still see them all of the time around my place where I grew up at and still live at today and that's in Crane Hill, Alabama where the cranes traveled up and down the small creek and roosted on a big hill and that's Crane Hill near my home place.... That's also how Crane Hill, Alabama got its name is from those nice pretty and friendly birds....
These incredible birds show up in my backyard from time to time. Their call sounds positively prehistoric to me! And they are *big* birds!
Wow!
How big is your oven? ;-)
Steve Allen Not big enough. Trust me. ;-)
It would almost be like trying to fit Big Bird in there. They come up to my chest.
Diane Garber They truly are a magnificent bird Diane. I sure hope people listen, and their nesting grounds are preserved.
how do you know what anything prehistoric sounds like??
And here we have a pack of wild Floridian velociraptors.
Matt Allen me and my brother were sleeping on a bunk bed and I woke up around 8:00 am in the morning and I heard that exact same sound loud as hell and my brother was still asleep and when my brother heard it he said what the fuck Is that and I died laughing
They will walk down your sidewalk like your other neighbors and then you will wonder what to do.
DON'T GO INTO THE SAWGRASS!!!!
NOT INTO THE SAWGRASS!!!!
We have these in northern Michigan
That’s pretty good lol
They sound like they could rip your arms off, but they are so docile. When they fly, they constantly cackle to each other. It is, indeed, sweet music.
Growing up in Florida, we saw them everywhere. Love that sound!
Now they're everywhere!
These Birds Are Awesome To See.

We live in Cape Coral, u?
Christian Puppy I see them a lot here in Brooksville. I saw a baby in a pack a month ago. I saw him and the pack again yesterday. So awesome to watch
Tampa?
chasemansk8 I live in Wisconsin and they are here all the time.
Woke up to this sound this morning, never heard it before.
What a neat bird!
😮 dey is kool asf
I have these outside my house almost every day lol.
I hear that sound all the time haha
I love to hear those cute birds outside, it makes me very happy to hear.
007
They're beautiful birds.
I live in Deltona FL and these cranes have quite the presence there.
Haha. They walk through my yard in Deltona all the time. We live behind water and they love to hang out here.
Thank you for helping me identify the HUGE bird that flew by this morning. I had heard it several times, but could never see it until today!
I just took my puppy out and heard a strange noise. I looked up and there was around a dozen of these cranes circling. Eventually about 20 more caught up to them and they all continued north. Was So cool!

I just saw a pair of Sandhill Cranes for the first time at Aztalan State park in Wisconsin yesterday. Beautiful birds!
I live by a sandhill crane refuge and right now we have a set of mates hanging around putting on a show they come up while I'm playing guitar like it's intriguing to them or something
This is strangely majestic. What a magnificent bird
Ughh I love sandhill cranes 🤗💕!! They would come around where I live quite often when I was younger. They have a special place in my heart ❤️.
I absolutely love sandhill cranes..they are majestic and beautiful!!!! It is 10pm in florida..a flock of cranes just flew over...loudly calling. I CAN'T BELIEVE THEY FLY AT NIGHT!! OMG!!
"You come here!" "No, you guys come over here!" "No we called you over, first!" (Sandhill Cranes calling.)
Lived in FL my entire life and the Sandhill Crane call will always be a memorable noise

You are so blessed to see these Sandhill Cranes so close to you, they are beautiful.
They're so cute
They are so delicious

@@rjb3825 smh! bad! *wacks*
And to think Director Michael Dougherty used the sounds of these birds as part of the vocals for Rodan in Godzilla King of the Monsters
And his mother helped him with creating
Rodan s roar
Really? That’s super interesting!

we have these birds at our cabin. music to my ears too! i just love them! plus they are fun to watch.
I had a half chow half golden retriever that looked just like your dog. Best dog of all time because it got the best traits from both breeds.
Flying over NW Indiana today 3-20-2022. Happy spring.
Everything about this video makes my heart happy and calm
I need 8 hours in a row of this to listen to while sleeping.
Hell ya!
I miss hearing these when I lived in Florida. Came up to my Lanai nearly everyday.
i love these birds,. its like i'm in Jurassic Park when they come strolling through my back yard. ;-))
Well They're Dinosaurs
I got kidnapped by a Crane 100 years in the Future.

Sandhill cranes are flying north over Indianapolis. Wonderful voices!
Had a few hundred flying over me when I went for a walk with my mom last spring. Truly awe-inspiring!
to people saying "ThEy SOuNd LIKe DInOsAurS!", they do because they *are* dinosaurs lol
Heard these yesterday 7 Aug 2021 in Lake County IL. They are spectacularly LOUD.
I’ve seen them in McHenry recently..read that they breed in Lake and McHenry counties.
20,000 of them migrated over Chicago yesterday, and o the ruckus! Thanks for posting this.
Do you have a picture?
Nah, missed the phot op. Sorry!
Fyretiger1 can you describe the ruckus?
Beautiful, thanks for sharing.

Much more pleasant to the ear than the sound of drunk women returning from a night of hard partying.

I often hear Sandhills flying by making these bizzare but kinda cute cackles
Such a wonderful video! Thanks for uploading!
I've never seen a chicken that big
4 years old and I'm disappointed nobody made the young guns reference. Sigh, oh well.
"Hey doc, did you see the size of that chicken?"
You should see the ostrich
I seen these yesterday at Lake Erie Metro park in Brownstown, Michigan. In the small field next to the road, jumping up and down.
I feed my Sandhill Cranes every day 🙂 I love seeing them!
IDIOT DONT FEED THEM THATS ILLEGAL

Good reason to plink stray and feral cats. They destroy more threatened species of birds than any other animal.
Yesterday some flew over the house. I've been here since 1979 (Just north of Milwaukee) and this is the first time I've seen them here.
there was a sand hill in my back yard I played it next to him he went crazy
It went crazy and shot 14 other birds
Bathroom Stall wtf sound is that
I Saw Two Sandhill Cranes Outside My House
I like playing this by mine. They look up like "where are they?
Lmao i just did this to two of them in my front yard they perked up and flew away
Lovely to see.
Thank you very much for putting the video online.

Such delicious animals. I love everything about Sandhill Cranes
Yessssss I always say music to my ears....to my soul ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I lived in Florida for a short time and these would be in my front yard just doing this for so long. It was nice

I live at the south end of lake Michigan so lots of birds migrate thru here and in the spring there are hundreds of sandhill cranes everywhere. The most I've counted in one group was around 800
I woke up at a shelter I made with my friends to the sound of these birds flying by
I had 3 in my backyard today. Love them, they're fantastic!
My backyard homies, usually there’s just a pair but I always love seeing them!

I saw a sandhill crane sitting down once and I ended laughing for a good few minutes because of how weird and funny it was.
We have em here every day!
We have these in Michigan and I hear them every morning
I remember camping in Minnesota and hearing these guys fly over
Their calls are what wakes me up every morning
Wow. So amazing.
Thanks for the video! We are traveling tomorrow in hopes to see some Sandhill Cranes a few hours from us
I live in Florida. When I first got there, and first heard this, I was like "what the hell?!?!" Like Day of the Triffids or something.
I hear this in the morning in Wisconsin
Where in WI? I'm in Madison, and often see them in my neighborhood. 🙂
@@michellebentz6753 id say there too
pure music!! love those Cranes!!
Just saw a bunch of these today flying over Atlanta.
Beautifully done.
This is what I hear every day in my neighborhood
Early huge flightless prehistoric birds must have sounded very similar. Amazing, and these guys fly.
so beautiful, I love their call
I live in central FL and have 12/15 in my backyard every day.
South Orlando, I have a pair that nests somewhere around the lake across the street. Occasionally with babies.
