    Great video, Mr. Phillips. I hope you can make another video about the Ol Battle Bows Standard longbow. Something like a 3 month review of the bow. But this time show the bow a little bit more. Like take off the bow quiver and insert some close up pics or video of the bow from different angles, perhaps.

      Lol the Chinese bows are great for the price no apologies especially for the newbie’s but most seasoned traditional guys definitely prefer something like this because it’s hand crafted here 👍🏻

    Love that Standard Ol Battle Bow! I enjoyed how you were talking about the instinctive small aim point against the dark background, that’s the only way I can group well, I use a wiffle practice golf ball up against the black backstop at the range, and literally the first time I did that I hit the dang ball, I couldn’t believe it, I have guys that still talk about that today, with a small group of arrows all grouped around that wiffle practice golf ball. When I use the paper targets and things aren’t grouping, I automatically go back to the wiffle golf ball, against the black backdrop of the backstop wall, it works every time💯 the ole, Aim Small, Miss Small 🎯

    boy ole Byron can sure shoot I remember watching him ever chance I could get, you know I'm 58 years old I still have never got into these bows but the last few years I've been wanting one so bad I just haven't pulled the trigger so to speak I shot a few when I was a kid but I think they was them really cheap fiberglass bows back in the 70's been shooting compound since early 80's i like them but i just want something simple and lighter

    Iv been shooting my sanlida eagle x9 and I really like the bow..Definitely need a good string and good arrows...But it'll work for now just to get my practice and form right..Iv noticed all ready hitting your anchor ever time is key..and focus on your spot..So glad I have your channel to learn from and it's a huge plus your a man of God 🙏...I love your videos jeff God bless you my Friend 😊

    I'm a total noob, with a couple bows, that can get ok groupings. It seems to me that when you find the right bow, you don't shoot it with the nagging doubt or worry of it's performance in your mind. When the right one presents itself, it eliminates those negative thoughts and you're able to shoot more freely or naturally. For some that want or need to level up, you may have to break down and pay the price. That sorta says how I'm seeing it now, if any of it makes sense. I haven't found that "One" yet as I'm still learning every day with my starter bows but there will come a time.

      I have 3 bows all cheap. One is around 30 uk. Made of some kind if metal, but it actually shoots really well. My go to is my samick sage, againt 200 uk bow but for me just a joy to shoot with. I've known archers say that it's not the bow though, ok hand shake yer that's definitely an issue you don't want. But if you think in the old days a war bow in Europe was 80lb up, some warriors shot up to 160lb bows, and they had the most simplest of design. The old saying "take a stick put string on it, you have a bow" is true. One bow I've got and tbh i can't remember the name, at first didn't feel comfortable, but after a while shooting it i got honed in on the bow. Archery is special, you can have the most expensive bow there is and maybe you will hate shooting it, verse a 200 price or even 100 price that shoots like butter. I don't think price comes into it and way too much is put on that.

    Hi! I usually shoot horse bows with thumb draw and just recently got into trad/hunting bows. I noticed that extra string that connects the bowstring and the upper limb - never saw that before, what function does it have?

    • @chadcousins2563
      @chadcousins2563 4 місяці тому

      It's a clicker, basically you set it so that when you expand just past anchor it "Clicks" and that's an audible sound that says ok release the string now. Adds to a consistent DL, and thus consistent shooting.

  • @digitaldogs233

    Amazes me that alot feel price=a good bow, it does not, a good bower can get the piece of ash or yew etc and make you a perfect bow for next to nothing. If you know the guy well and hes willing to put his time to do that. Each archer is different from the next, a bow you love i may not, but even then i can adjust to it. I honestly believe too much is put on what a bow cost verses the skill of the person making it. Recurve are well known to just be smoother to shoot than a long bow, they just are due to limb design. But i dont stress on a price, i can only reasonably afford a 200 cost bow, but ive shot bows that are 1000+ and felt no difference from a 100 price bow. Thats jmo, but i do believe some companies charge way to much on a bow that has the exact same materials a cheaper bow has. Its not rocket science, its a stick with string on it, but obviously vibration is a no go, thats the same as too much recoil on a pew pew lol, just not comfortable

I took him and his wife turkey hunting in Kansas this year. They were so happy and we connected on a personal level so well. He wanted to send me a custom bow. I’ve been shooting it for 2 weeks. I absolutely love it. I love the story and I love this story. Amen amen amen 🙏.

    • @instinctiveaddictionarcher8998
      @instinctiveaddictionarcher8998  3 місяці тому +1

      I have shot axis 4mm and they shoot great just have to build up the strike plate a little sometimes or they’ll group slightly right because of the small diameter at least in bows cut past center but they definitely penetrate!

    • @tolt1776
      @tolt1776 3 місяці тому +1

      @instinctiveaddictionarcher8998 I think I'm going to try them with my recurve. Even easier foc and nkw easton has half outs that are 125 grains and it is recessed to actually go over the arrow quite a bit to protect the arrow. I've been told some people felt they were more accurate because the small diameter is closer to center of the shelf? Kinda makes sense in my brain. And the "grouping" right you mentioned maybe confirms that a bit?
