I have the exact same saw and table. I love it. Table is a not inexpensive but saw is inexpensive, so you can get both for what a Milwaukee or DeWalt saw would cost without a table.
Thanks Josh! I want people to be able to see it before buying it. This bandsaw has been great for me to have in my shop. Small compact and extremely handy!
Heck yeah man! Talk about a handy tool! I've used this thing for so much... Having it permanently set up opens up a bunch of options. Thanks for watching.
You've never failed me yet. Ive been working with 1095 and until now using a cutting wheel. What bandsaw blades are best? I seem to be going through blades wayyy too quickly
Thanks for the informative review. I do have one question, if you don't mind. From the blade to the back of the saw is only about 5". Do you find that is an obstacle when cutting out longer knives? I have a hard time figuring out how this set up would work for blades longer than 8" to 10". Thanks.
Hey Chris, You may have to get a little creative from time to time (cutting form both ends), but I've been able to do some pretty big projects with it.
Lol I read your review on bladeforums and then saw this video without realizing it was also you, but then I heard you say “red knobbed screw” and it became clear lol
I am not aware of a bench top metal cutting band saw, a wood band saw like the Wen is for cutting wood the blade speed is much faster for wood than metal measured in IPS inches per second. Or IPM minutes 😁🛫
Thank you so much. I didn't know there was a ready made stand to turn a cheaper portable bandsaw into a home knifemskung saw. I say Slavic telly n he had to trade a knife for a way to mount the saw then I saw a guy use a heavy vise to mount a saw.
Your videos and reviews and very clear and informative. I'm considering putting together a shop of my own and the information you provide is very good. Looking forward to more :). Thanks
I just bought one! I need to cut 1/8" thick (11 gauge) aluminum and galvanized steel. I bought 18TPI blades. I can't find any references on how fast to set the speed, except 'fast for soft materials' (aluminum?) and 'slow for hard materials' (steel?). I estimate the saw runs at 240fpm on setting 1 and 540fpm on max. Can anybody provide me a good speed reference or advice? Thanks!
This thing is giving me alot of trouble. A small piece of steel just cut has fallen between the side of the blade and the plate, acting as a wedge and causing the blade to stop immediately, throwing it out of the bandsaw. This has happened twice in 2 days. This isnt just annoying, it is dangerous.
Hey man, Yeah, I have that problem from time to time. When cutting off small pieces I'll only do it on the right side of the blade. I also don't cut off many small pieces (leaving that close up work for the grinder). I have seen some people create their own "table tops" for this system with a much smaller slot for the saw blade. Good luck sir!
The bandsaw is on sale at Harbor Freight for $89.99 (with online or in store coupon) until 6/30/2020 and the SWAG v3 table from SWAG Off Road directly is currently $129.95 shipped.
Wow in 2022 the stand is $173! Seems to me that is overpriced and more than what I paid for my saw.😥 I'd like it but not at that price for a little bit if unpainted steel.
Good review. I wonder if you had looked at this model: www.harborfreight.com/horizontal-vertical-metal-cutting-bandsaw-93762.html It is lower amps, but comes with stand. Thoughts?
Anyone else use this bandsaw set-up in their shop!? Let me know below if I missed anything in this review!

Great narration and view angles...... thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great video. I came here from your Instagram page. You do a great job of explaining this tool

I’m watching more of your videos now. I really like the clear way you explain along with your videos
@@josh88113 Thanks dude!
Thanks for the video, I need to order 2
Hope you enjoy them!
Wow, thanks. I just paused your video and bought one!
Jerry Swatsell cheers man! I use it all the time! Extremely handy! Glad you liked the video 👍
I have the same table and saw with foot pedal it's my absolute favorite tool in my shop!
Heck yeah man! Talk about a handy tool! I've used this thing for so much... Having it permanently set up opens up a bunch of options. Thanks for watching.
I think it would be so superior for my goals in knifemaking
Great review. One question, do you ever use the speed adjustment on it or do you run it at max usually?
Thanks! I run it at max all the time.
Thanks for the information! How do you think the Bauer portaband compares to other name brands like Milwaukee?
Hey man, I can't say for sure since I haven't used any other saws. However, this bandsaw is still going strong for me!
@@RedBeardOps Thanks, I appreciate it. I'm debating a new Bauer or a used Milwaukee on Craigslist for about the same price....

Hey Chance, check out the description. I put some baldes in there I use.
Great video easy explanation of the facts 👌 thanks I'll be getting them soon 💯
Excellent! Thanks! Glad you got something out of it.

Lol! Cheers Vogel!
curious whats the advantage of a porta bandsaw and swag table over a bench bandsaw like a wen or something? besides the portable aspect.
I think they're generally cheaper? I like the compact size too

ssunfish yes sir! It gets the job done! I love mine
Great review. How would you say it does for cutting out wood for scales?
Hey man, it does great! I've used it to cut just about everything at this point.
@@RedBeardOps thanks for the response man! You may have convinced me into this set up 🧐
@@AZCampcraft Good luck man. It's still trucking for me!
Does this cut hardens steel ?
It cuts annealed 1084 easily. Will not cut after heat treatment

jeff carpenter hey Jeff! Thanks for the comment! It’s feedback like this that I really enjoy. Glad to be of service!
One useful tool..
what tpi blade do you use and at what speed on the bauer?
I run it maxed out. I also have a link to some blades in the description. I'm using 18TPI
My bandsaw just quit me. I'm considering the swag table and Bauer saw, are you still happy with it? ( and by the way your informative vids are great!)
Thanks Troy. I am. So far so good. Haven't had any problems with it.

I've always just run mine on max for everything

Looks pretty sweet for handling large stock. I have never used or looked at it though.
