I love potato salad and this is how I grew up making it, I do chop tiny red bell peppers minced in a chopper for color. I've seen so many youtubers this year making it without boiled eggs and chilling the potatoes prior to mixing it. The warmer the potato the smoother the blending and taste!! Thank you for this video, my granny used russet potatoes because the big bag was cheaper, I use Yukon now but I have used red potatoes also. In cooking for 35 years never heard in the kitchen of adding the moisture (mayo, mustard etc) while hot. I am going to have to try it this time. I hate having to add add add moisture because it to dry. Thank you for the tip Chef Jeffery. Wwwish me luck starting cooking at Great Wolf Lodge tomorrow. Hopefully final stint in kitchen before I retire. 8-10yrs (60-62.)
I always add my seasoning first, including celery salt. Mix that well before adding the liquid ingredients. Also I use a little vinegar. I've used Miracle Whip (no sugar needed) and real Mayo (add sugar). Both are good. As I get older I prefer Mayo, but growing up, all we had was Miracle Whip. Also, occasionally I add some chopped dill pickles in addition to tge sweet relish. Yummy! Now I'm hungry for potato salad!

My Mom (RIH) along with the Hellsman Mayo and Mustard she always added finely chopped Celery, Green Bell Pepper, onion and Sweet Baby Gherkins Pickles. A few years ago I began using Candied Sweet Pickles and found they are the Better option because they are more flavorful and there's no need to add Sugar. Thanks for sharing your valuable tips.
