Drop dead gorgeous! This bike is an amazing survivor, and you keep it looking showroom fresh which is mind-blowing for a motorcycle that is approaching 50years old.
I bought a new 1976 Goldwing , first one in our county, rode it to east coast and west coast,.. very reliable cycle. Wish they still made it. My Valkyrie is a lot heavier, and more complicated. Like simple.
I am almost 62yrs. Old and remember well when these first came out . I didn't think much about them at the time . Then the factory started dressing up and i hated the looks of them. But as i got older i seen the older ones naked and like the looks of them . Now i would be glad to find one of the first ones. Great looking Bike .
I really like the early goldwings with spoke wheels and no fairing, they are so smooth and were also one of the fastest bikes of the time, they might have been faster than Z1's
I love how you can hear that timing belt wurring just like on my Valkyrie. It’s a beautiful bike. I’d take that thing across the country in half a heartbeat.
Great video! I have a 78 GL1000 - naked. The prior owner added lower bars and a corbin seat. He included the original seat and bars, so I can return it to stock if I want to. I love the stock vintage Honda's.
Great vidio and great bike a friend bought a 1976 gl1000 when they first came out that bike started a life long love affair with the goldwing for me,, I owned a 1985 aspencade and currently own a 2008 gl1800 what great bikes.
My room mate owned a Honda dealership and rode a yellow GL 1000 in 1976. His brother and myself bought 1976 750 Super Sports in yellow but the GL was faster and so much nicer to ride. I now have a 1976 GL 1000 in Blue with less than 10,000 miles and is pristine!
Looks great my friend. So, that's what those 2 empty instrument sockets were for, head light and tail light. Take the cover off a 78' and there was 2 empty sockets. I used of one of them for a "side stand still down" warning light. Had two 78's, one I rode over 360,000 miles, and the other one over 100,000. Enjoy your bike.
I owned an early Goldwing I was a little disappointed you did not open the glove box (tank) and show that plus lift the seat. As the big fat fuel tank was a dummy tank, the real fuel tank was under the seat. Many people don't know that, a real feat of an engineering masterpiece. This bike was light years ahead of it's time. And the only reason I got rid of this bike was to get a 1969 CBX (6 cylinder, double overhead cam and 4 valves per cylinder) And THAT bike was AWESOME even by today's standards. Smooth as silk, powerful as a Starship, and pure awesome to ride and when you rode it the engine seemed to be 4 foot wide (all engine) In their heyday Honda was the best bike in the world.
Thats a beauty! I had a '78 one, in blue. Great mile eater. Based in the UK but did lots of rallies including several in Europe. Did a spell as a courier (not an ideal bike for that though), fast ride up from the South coast to London (52 miles) pretty much daily. In and around London and as far out to Heathrow and up to Cambridge, delivering (among other things) American Express Cards (they had a base in Brighton). Great fun trying to squeeze through London traffic! Had to service the bike at weekends though. Only did courier work for a few months. Mine was in very good condition, which I still had in. Yours looks lovely - sounds ace too. Much better with the original pipes, they are not the same with aftermarket ones. These are luxurious civilised bikes and as smooth as silk to ride.
Honda legte damals Wert auf Kultiviertheit bei allen Motorrädern und war stolz, dass diese Maschine leiser als ein VW Käfer war. Es war ein Gedanke in die Zukunft, als Motorräder noch echte " Donnerbolzen" waren....
I have the same exact bike sulfer yellow bought it back in 2002 it has a long winded throttle I could ride it anywhere I believe one thing to watch is the oil pump drive pin wouldn't hurt to replace it after all these years
Lovely machine. Theres one for sale here in Ireland that i might chase. Ive looked at a few but theyve been turned into cafe racers or modified and made a mess of. Original ones are rare. I dont like the later ones and the pan st 1300 is much nicer than later full fairing goldwings but the engine in 1800 is a peach. Well done. Envious of your weather. It rains here so much
Magnificent! Except for the colour! Yes I must admit I got a Triumph speedmaster with a yellow tank, but I put up with it cause I think that’s why I got it cheap cheap cause no one else wanted it.
someone I used to know worked for American Honda In Torrance ( Southern California) bought one of these to restore for me and then sell to me, but he decided to keep it. He restored it to original and then sold it too Honda lol I believe it's sitting in one of their lobbies.
Insanely well kept and maintained. The original Gold Wing - and not one of those ugly, over equipped later models. The yellow color would not be my choice but it’s undeniably very 1975. Would be pure blasphemy to change it😊 Never been riding one myself, but judged from the sound of the motor it seems to be running very, very smoothly...
Owned one 89-96 , great bike ( 125 mph ), first shaft drive for me ,next one was a BMW 2002-2021 ( 135 mph ) , out of bikes for now . I'm looking though !
The '75s and '76s are my favorites. Love the yellow best. Looks like from the trees you are in Minnesota/Wisconsin/Michigan area....right? Very nice example.
This engine and the gear driven cam V4 are the two greatest engines ever produced for motorcycles. I have mixed feelings about Honda though because they destroyed the VFR later on by removing the gear driven cams and adding VTech. They also committed the vile sin of removing shaft drive and hydraulic clutch from the magna.
Honda as well most other manufacturers are largely a money making entity. To keep producing this engine with out dated tooling and machinery would have sent them broke.

@@Britt73 out of curiosity, how much did you sell it for? The bike looked perfect. My father had that identical bike when I was a kid and I wanted to purchase one
Who else doesn't care to look at the back of someone else's leg? Could have chosen a better placement for the camera! Otherwise a really great bike video.

Wow, what a beautiful condition it's in. One of the best looking, older Goldwings I've seen. Great job with the upkeep and customizations.
Brilliant! Oh the glory days when the Goldwing was a normal big bike

But, they weren’t! They didn’t injure as many riders though due to the weight being low down and, they had better brakes too.
Aber gefährlich!

Love the bike, ‘how you’ve preserved and cherished it, love where you live and finally, love your presentation! Brilliant 👍
80’s Japanese bikes are my ride, this is the only spoked 70’s bike I love. Perfect (french kiss)*

Außergewöhnliche und beste Farbe....ich war elektrisiert damals und habe eine gelbe bis heute
good looking wing! i like the yellow color and green face of the dials! looks very period!
Genau so muss das aussehen. Es ist ein Zeitgeistsymbol!
I miss the sound of that engine, i had a 1977 that i wished i never sold. Best bike i ever owned.
Beautiful bike. LOVE these old naked Goldwings.
Beautiful bike - I’ve got two of these - both 76 - sulfur yellow and antares red. Yours in excellent shape. Great job. Thanks for sharing great vids.
The bike is a credit to you. Fantastic
that has GOT to be THE cleanest / sharpest GL 1000 on the planet !

I remember em coming out 60s we were all gob smacked. This was the one, naked, before they made em into a Boat on wheels . !
The first year of the Goldwing was 1975.
Now there's a bike! Outstanding man! Good show!
Iconic bike in beautiful original condition. Treasure it!
That's an awesome bike! I'm trying to find one in decent condition but had no luck so far.
What would you give me for one?

Es war eine Wagnis in gelb. Aber Honda hatte den Mut . Und bis heute eine der schönsten Hondas. Diese Farbe hatte mich damals als Schüler elektrisiert
