‘Nadu banned’ = insta-watch. Regardless of if the card is ‘too powerful’ or not, I don’t need to watch any format where 60%+ of decks are based around one card
Yeah fair point & something I hope WOTC is thinking about. There are people way more knowledgeable about the format with mixed feelings - so I don’t have a strong opinion. However, I think as a viewer it’s less annoying because 1.) Multiple decks play the ring (vs 2-3 very, very similar Nadu decks) and 2.) the loss of life to burden counters and consequent trade off for drawing cards is a little more interesting to think about (instead of how 95%+ of the time you’d trigger Nadu where you can) .
The reason the eldrazi temple world breaker combo didnt work is because the world breaker in the graveyard is not a colorless eldrazi because its not a permanent. Unless a cards rules text specifically states “type/subtype cards” then its assumed that any type subtype pointers refer to permanents. Effectively the phrase colorless eldrazi implies colorless eldrazi permanents it has to say colorless eldrazi cards to work on cards.
Usually I'd say this is a great play. They were already conceding at this point, and Thoughtseize gives them access to more information and the deck their opponent is playing. But this seems to have been an open decklist tournament, which makes this a moot point.
Commenting for the algorithm and nadu being banned. I'm still a bit sad that The One Ring is such an auto-include in so many modern decks as well. I wonder how different it would be if you could only have one copy in your deck. Thematically it would make sense at least.
I wonder if restricting is enough. People will just play ways to reset it. It's not the same as a four-of of course, but to my mind part of the problem is that it can be reset. I'd love to see how good it'd be if instead of burden counters on The One Ring, it gave you an emblem that made you lose 1 life every upkeep. Then recasting it only gives you the protection and it just keeps stripping away your life. But that doesn't fix the Sheoldred combo either.
I have a question about the deck. After playing do you think that perhaps Thought-Knot Seer could replace mycospawn ? Honestly mycospawn looks a little out of place here, ramping yourself is not that important on turn 4 in this deck but protecting your combo my getting a counterspell out of their hand sounds a lot better one turn before you cast TTB.
I remember Jim really hating TKS while he was testing the deck, and Mycospawn fetching out Eldrazi Temple to be able to hardcast Ulamog is hugely relevant
Thought Knot Seer isn’t a good card and don’t think of this as a combo deck, the Through The Breach part of the deck is a plan B and you board it out a lot, look how good Mycospawn was in most of these matches
Man MTGO really badly needs to upgrade its graphics and UI all around. For all of the weaknesses Arena has it definitely feels way more engaging/exciting.
Ngl...modern horizons 3 ruined modern again. Like wtf is this metagame...a eldrazi deck built around mh3, 2 energy decks built around hm3 Like idk makes me feel like moderns just standard with powerful cards the way it rotates like this
Modern has always been a rotating format. It was never going to be the format from 2011 forever and you know that. Just think back to all the sets that changed modern forever when they were released. Innistrad, Return to Ravnica, Khans of Tarkir, Fate Reforged, Dragons of Tarkir, Oath of the Gatewatch, Kaladesh, Aether Revolt, War of the Spark, Throne of Eldraine, Theros Beyond Death, Ikoria, Modern Horizons 1, Modern Horizons 2, Dominaria United, Lord of The Rings, Wilds of Eldraine, Outlaws of Thunder Junction. Modern changed every time these sets came out. With some sets in between maybe only adding one or two great cards. Modern has always changed, is always changing, will always change. And the format is better for it. You would not want to be playing against the same 3 decks forever.

50 percent of decks run 4 copies of the one ring lol

It's also super boring to watch regardless of power level.
@RafitoOoO my point. It would no surprise me if wotc just uses a logistics-related argument to ban it.
Nadu is like 15-20%~ bro calm down
The chill music makes this a lot more satisying to watch while eating lunch!
I know MTGO isn't everyone's cup of tea, but I could watch this all day! Thanks for putting this up on the channel.
I felt the dead sea leave your body at the end. I can certainly empathize! Loved the video, been thinking of building this deck.
21:06 “that’s why you push those cards away” has the same energy as “I always shuffle off of Ponder”

Opponent losing to their own Blood Moon is definitely a love to see it moment.
HOLY MOLY I did not expect to see emrakul being hardcasted in modern, that is nuts
I like the quick edits.
This looks like a sweet deck to play, five stone rains in five turns really gets the juices flowing
For the algorithm, glad you look to be feeling better Jim!
Love the idea for the tournament. Feels like 1-2 misplays and getting robbed made for a bad ending. Hopefully it’ll pan out next time.
This makes me wanna bring back the old madcap experiment deck
Would love a Sb guide to this deck just so have idea of how to play it against some others in the format atm
Loving the Diablo beats!

This is such a unique and interesting idea that i've never heard before.
What an original comment. I only see it every single time someone talks about The One Ring
i waited years to see this ! xD (nadu ban:))

Love me a thought knot seer
Why are you allowed to see the other players decks?
why stop at nadu they should also ban grief
They already did
Whats the music in the background? Reminds me of Diablo
44:20 🤭
Diablo lofi on UA-cam
Is this deck dead if/when they ban ring?
They will not ban the ring
@@MarkChaney-b8k what makes you think that? It’s in 37% of decks right now which seems out of control
@@MarkChaney-b8k I don’t want them to make mine worth nothing by banning them haha. Just feeling it may happen
!

to be Honest: Banning Nadu and keeping one ring and bowmasters is just as abominable.

I feel the same way
@tylerberg4832 I miss jund...and collected company decks :( 8rack before all these crazy cards. Back In my day discard was fair honest magic

@@uruigi the formats Better for having 5 nardus top 8 ? The formats better for being forced to play mh3 ? This is a horrible take lmao
@tylerberg4832 I agree. Innistrad helped modern...not completely warped it like mh3 has
love ya jim, this crusty MTGO content is not for me though lmao
Mtgo is a billion times better than arena
