Phlage is pronounced like the FL in FLow with the word AGE after it. I think the Ph trips people up, but its name is inspired by the Phlegethos (the river of fire from the Greek underworld) so it makes sense.
@matthewcowles6031 everything in the deck generates energy for the amulet and phlage leverages your dead threats It's not a flashy deck just solid midrange with good removal
More seriously though, I don’t see why the pro tour coming down to a coin flip is worse than a lightning helix off the top of the deck. Magic is inherently a game of randomness
@@andrewp6738I think it mostly comes down to cards not consistently having the same effect. Invert Polarity is always either a bad counterspell or a game winning tempo swing. It's not that people hate randomness in Magic, they don't like volatility.
@@evanshaner991 correct; Lightning Helix always does the same thing, Invert Polarity flips will wildly swing a game one way or another and there's no way to plan for it (on either side)
Just a deck that did well in a league or something, eh? Congrats on qualifying for Worlds, Jim!
That invert polarity was HILARIOUS
It's simultaneously an awful card and an amazing/hilarious card. Truly the epitome of an Izzet counterspell!

Remember when people were clamoring for Ancient Stirrings to be banned? Those were the days.
Ross Merriam at home just catching strays.
This deck can kill on t2 with a flawless victory 😵 spoopy
We can’t call Kozilek’s Command K-Command, think of the Kolaghan’s Commands of the world!
I really want to play this deck but I'm not sure I'll ever convince myself to buy The One Rings at this point. Is it even worth playing without them?
Annihilator 15! 😐
Why is boros energy so popular? I've never seen it do anything impressive
Have you seen what happens with an ocelot+guide of souls its gross
@@killpioo2 the idea of keeping two extremely fragile creatures alive seems laughable. Do people not play interaction?

I loooooove Invert Polarity. Don’t cast stuff into UUR if you can’t deal with having it stolen!
