@@peggyhobbs3119 Santo Farina was born in 1937, while Johnny was born in 1941. They had a middle child sister named Annie, whom they named an instrumental song after. Annie is often credited with her two brothers on any of their compositions, including "Sleep Walk". Santo & Johnny were both born of Fiji/Italian descent in New York. Their father was Fiji Island born, while their mother was an Italian-American native. As both brothers once stated on the back of their album covers, they sure did loved their mother's homemade lasagna. It was their dad who taught the boys how to play steel guitar.
I discovered this song fro the movie LaBamba In 1987 or whenever it came out. It got radio play for a little while on the top 40 stations Most 12 olds didn’t care for it, or wouldn’t admit it. It wasn’t “cool” but it must’ve been because they played it. It’s very unique. It’s like a wave of emotions. It can go from love to sorrow depending how you’re feeling when you hear it, as well as who’s playing it. Some people just seem to play it, and others really Put their soul into it. It seems like it conveys your mood at the time. This song is timeless.

in 1962 i ask a neighbor (as he played guitar in a band) what is a steel guitar ? He said " a guitar with a wire the neck of the guitar" ... lol ... Of course he didn't knew what a steel g. was.
I listen this song when I was a child, since first time, this song make me feel a little peace and mistery inside of me, thats how I can define this song, mistery and peaceful... When I saw some videos when they played this song, I saw to guys playing a bass and a steel but what about the drums?? 😅 Looks like there was a couple of drums in the back

I can sort of mimic this with my whammy pedal and guitar, but you definitely need a pedal steel to really get this sound and feel. Very cool that it's the original johnny.
Song as timeless as Dick Clark. What a great performance and show. Memories of a lifetime. God bless everyone.
This is the song I first danced to, 1964. Etched in my soul

What instrument is he playing? 💖
Lap steel guitar
WOWEEE!!!
😊😊🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶
What is this insturment called?
He plays a double neck Fender Stringmaster (Console) Steel Guitar. It also was available with 3 or 4 8-string necks.
GENIAL !!!!!!
His singing voice didn't hold up. So he now has to do this as an instrumental.
Interesting. He just started performing this with no vocals since the 50's lol...
who is he ?
Johnny Farina who with his brother Santo had a number one single in September of 1959 called “Sleepwalk”. He’s playing it here.
He put a lil extra on it 😂 johhhy had a shot of black label
