Digging up Blackberries

I am getting the garden area ready to install the "dream" garden soon! It is time to remove the wild blackberry bushes in the way. I let them do their thing last year and they didn't flower, much less make blackberries, so it is time for them to go. Special appearance from Frank the goat and Pepper the supervisor chicken!

Using loppers first is a good idea.
Digging up the roots is also a good idea.
I've always used a mattock for digging up blackberry roots, because a MAN can develop the power to cut through roots pretty effectively.
I was impressed by the effectiveness of the lady using a manure fork.
I've just been clearing blackberries from a public right of way the past few days. There are probably more roots that need to go, but when they stick their little heads out they are going to get CUT OFF!
And then I'll be using a mower to give grass a chance to develope.
