I remember when Barry fry was in charge and we had a fairly young squad who were big and strong with a mixture of skill and goal scoring ability around the team. The players were from lower league's but did the job, that would be my brief with a manager like chandler. I would take a look at langstaff from notts county upfront for goals, many other clubs are looking at him.
Dave Challinor all day for me I knew him when he was at the AFC Fylde, a team I have been supporting since 1994. When he left the club we were all sad to see him go. The manager you can warm to. He just has that presence.
I have relatives that are Stockport season ticket holders and they think dave challinor would turn us into a good attacking team . I'd try and get him .
@@johnmalin1676big take considering the 1 you want has never managed in league 1 compared to the 1 that has been promoted from league 1 and championship
@@swiftybcfc1 He got Norwich City promoted in 2015 by the playoffs. and BTW, they got relegated the following year. He also got Sunderland Promoted from League one, again by the play offs. Went to stoke, could only manage 16th with an half decent Stoke team and got the sack. He's not exactly set any leagues on fire.
Get your facts right boys, Dave Challinor’s managerial career has been entirely in the north west not north east, apart from a short spell where he got Hartlepool promoted from the NL. You can forget Challinor as a candidate as Birmingham is not in Cheshire; he turned down Charlton last season, and left Hartlepool firstly because County’s potential was far greater, and secondly was much closer to his Chester home (the County in Stockport County = county borough of Cheshire). Challinor would get the blues promoted next season, and as a manager who has finished above Wrexham the last three seasons (twice relegating them to runners-up) that is some achievement. I don’t think he’s the ‘big name’ Blues are looking for, just hope you don’t make the Rooney mistake again and think that razzmatazz trumps a very successful manager like Challinor, but the bottom line is that Chester to Birmingham is more than twice the travelling of Chester to Stockport so it’s a non-starter as he ain’t moving, and as it stands, it’s not clear that Birmingham City will finish above Stockport County 2024/25.
Great podcast but I was a little surprised by the omission of Paul Heckingbottom’s name who I think could be a potentially good appointment unless you have heard that he is not in the running at all for the job.
You didn’t mention Heckingbottom. Presume you don’t think too highly of him as a credible candidate. I don’t either. Alex Neil sounds like the best bet.
Dave challinor if he'd leave Stockport for me. Alex neil might be ok to get us out of league 1 but would be looking to change manager again if he got us into the championship?
Scott Parker is not with a club at the moment, has managed teams in the top two leagues and abroad. The successful teams have managers for many seasons. Blues have never had a manager longer than 4 seasons, Brucey being the last. Scott Parker would get us promoted to the Premiership. He also has a crop of kids coming through… a goldmine!! KRO
I hate the saying "safe pair of hands". If you want to stay in league 1 forever that is the type of manager you take not a winner. Here is the true stats on Rowett, ... manager since 2012.. never won a league, never won a playoff game, never got promoted from any level, made playoffs 1 season on last day, could not get Birmingham to win crucial games against other relegated teams and hence got Blues relegated. sacked 5 times. His honors? won manager of the month 1 time in 2012 and 1 time in 2013 both in league 2... that's it! This is a caretaker mid table manager who hides behind sensible interviews and just tries not to get embarrassed on the pitch which is why he is so defensive. Not a winner... just say no
Who’s good enough to get 90-100 points ? You can only lose a handful of games in that league if you want to get promoted. Blues can’t get it wrong again.
There are many names being mentioned and probably the one who get the job will shock us all again! WE must get a manager who has been around a bit he must know the divisions, he must know most of the players that play in these divisions! I think it was a good move to keep Juky and and Ruddy! whether the new guy will agree on that I don't know. They just have to get it right this time! KRO
Liam Rosenior tops the list as Potter and Cooper won’t drop that low to the 1st division but Rosenior will have higher ambitions. There’s not a great pool to pick from but they will have to be a manager who plays possession football. No to Lampard as he did his best to get villa promoted in the play off final
I wish these guys would put up more credible choices. I hate the idea of Lampard when there’s better names that are not being mentioned. Chris Davies, from Tottenham would be an excellent choice in the vain of McKenna. Ipswich showed bravery with that appointment and are prepared to do it again with Heitinga from West Ham being lined up.
We are in league one, who could we possibly appoint that's going to light everyones fire!!! Potter, parker or carsley would be my top 3 but I don't think we'll be getting any of them. Whoever we get it has to be someone for the long term.
