  • I haven't done a cover in a while. Quarantine got me tripping out and I haven't played metal in a while so I figured why not do a little something something.

Discovering Tosin completely changed how I view and play string instruments. He really helped me open the box I was putting myself in and use less conventional techniques.

every now and again I come across an underrated af technical bass player on youtube and today is such a day. Incredible technique and feel! I really like the stuff you do where you combine the thumping with rest strokes and raking, it looks and sounds very smooth.

Awesome cover man. It’s absolutely amazing. Would you by any chance be able to do a tutorial of how you do your thumping on this track please?

@@ShareefAddo It looks and sounds really nice for you, man. I was GASing for an archtop bass like an Gibson EB-750 or EB-650 for a number of years. My plan has been to take the Gibson ES-295 aesthetic and build it out to a 5-string archtop. Huge step up though, as I'm a solidbody builder and there's a lot more skills to develop there. Looks like D'Angelico aren't making these basses anymore, so it looks like this has to be my way to go. Cheers!

@@TristanJCumpole Ah dang I didn't realize they aren't making basses anymore! That's tight though that you've been building! Cheers

@@ShareefAddo Yeah man. It's a bummer. Last five-stringer was a '51 P Bass with an noise killing buffer preamp and a custom 1/4" pole single coil. Just finishing up a 5-string interpretation of the classic 80s Aria Pro II SB-1000. Pretty mighty basses! I really do want to branch out into making a 5-string multiscale archtop though.

Keep making vids man. You've got a great playing style that people want to see. At least something good's got to come out of these crazy days.
