Meh....it's basically a free p4 with different steel, different color, and the same drivers on the charge and the wave.....I daily carry my charge g10, but have a wave, rebar, Free P2, and a crunch.....don't feel the need for this at all.... especially for the price....
Just wait like 8-12 months for their warehouse stock of them to not move as much as they expected and they will offer it for like 30% off. Since the economy/inflation and job market is so crappy right now I don't think many working class people will be spending 240 bucks on a multitool.
@alex-cf4dy you do realize inflation means prices go up right? If all their expenses are increasing how do you expect them to lower their prices?
@@zripsterbecause they have sales all the itme, they recently sold the charge g10 for like 40 percent off. Any company would rather sell their product at a discount than not sell it at all. I bet that $240 for a fancy pair of pliers is not going to sell that well in the current economy

The Ark seems amazing. Just a side note on my 8 year old Surge. It is so well broken in I can open everything with 1 hand 😅

This is so gimmicky. The price is insane. There's just better things to spend the money on. For me the Wave is perfect and I can buy three for the price of the arc. The only people who have never lost a multitool are the "EDC Enthusiasts" who work a white collar pr administrative job making that thing a belt decoration.
Too bad. Most people can't afford it. This tool was made for Leatherman enthusiasts and that's it.
Consistent you say? Look closely at 0:50/1:30 (0.25x) that grind uneven and so ugly..
I would like to know how much magnicut steel adds to the price. I would like to see the same set of tools with a regular steel to bring down the price

But you did not evaluate the significant cost to the average person and the enlisted military. Many of the military that would possibly use the ARC, E1-E5 , are on food stamps and this is not on their radar. I like the tech, but out of my price range.
So cool! I hope the feedback from the recent AMA was also taken into consideration. I'm on the fence about the Arc because I'm still holding out hope for a P2 or lite version of the arc in the future!

Wow, I didn’t know spider man worked for leatherman.
Magnacut is probably a very good blade but for me and for my use in the farm a multi-tool must have the serrated edge. So i continue to use the great Wave+. And yes, i’m sad that in Europe it cost 299’95 euro.
There is a serrated saw in ther as well.
I'd love to see a replaceable infinity pen in the handle (toothpick too). Ruler notches and spring pliars would also be great.
I totally agree. I have to carry a Leatherman and Swiss Army knife now to get everything I need. The Arc with a pen and toothpic would be one and done.
They should have really added in rulers in the Arc.
For the spring pliars, Leatherman said on a Reddit Ask me Anything that spring pliars have less strength by nature of the design.
Hence why they stay away from it for most of their tools.
I wish it had the spring action on the plier similar to sidekick and Garage 5. I don't know WHY It is not in Arc and Arc is way too expensive. They should have thrown the kitchen sink for the price being proposed. Who made that decision Not to incorporate.

Leatherman..... if it has the best bits from all the multitools why didnt you add the t shank holder. Imo that would have made this the best tool on the market. And for the price its a shame you didnt because its the only thing missing from it.
I completely agree with you on this. The T-shank is one of the most versatile additions to a Leatheman, allowing you to swap out a file for a scroll jigsaw blade would have made this almost the perfect multitool

First thing leatherman needs to do is bring back the crunch.
Then make the Arc in Surge size.
The size of the ARC is more close to the Surge than the Wave!

Looks nice. However, it would have been nice to see something for the empty screw holes on the one side. With nothing in them it feels like something was lost. After all it is a premium price.
I don't know what happened with your wire cutters, but I cracked my wire cutters on my Knifeless Rebar, just cutting a 240V wire, that I believe was a 10 Guage solid core wire the other day and I had to climb down a 20 foot ladder to get my pliers out of my toolbag, just to finish the job. I kept hearing how good Leatherman are the best multitool, so I got the Orange G10 Leatherman Charge and a Knifeless Rebar, to see how good they are and both have a gap at the base of the plier cutters, just above the pivot. I heard about how the cutters have been breaking and I thought to myself, I don't cut anything but electrical wire, so I didn't care about the subject, until mine broke the other day. I use mine for work and I have been using my Knifeless Rebar almost everyday since February, when I bought it, but now I don't have cutters I can use and I have been using dedicated pliers. I love everything else about the 2 Leatherman I have, and I don't want to use anything else, but if the cutters are this hard a fragile, I can't depend on it. Please fix this issue. Thank you for your time.
There was a bad batch of the hard cutter inserts that I also felt were far weaker than usual. Replaced them with a current set and it seems to be back to the usual quality.

Arc should be near to perfect with its price tag.
So why don't you guys have an eyelet for the awl? An awl without anywhere to run thread through is virtually useless for its intended purpose.
Collector and user since 1987 , owned all the LM tools since then and used and for me the charge g10 is the best balanced tool I have yet used. The price point being over $200 will discourage a lot of people including myself from venturing into buying one. Not financial for me just my principal for the price point this tool is being sold for🙏

For the amount of time that Leatherman had been working on this tool and the feedback that I believed they received …… I would be expecting something much better than the ARC?
Yes, the Arc is a very nice tool. Unfortunately, it should have been released years ago! Yes, with a different knife metal.
Why no reconfigurable capabilities to the platform? Why no serrated blade?
Why only one version of the ARC? Why not release multiple versions of the device with different colors?

Smaller, lighter but with the best blade and all the tools i wanted.

I think, I don't need so expensive ARC by 320€.
I am waiting the lighest brother of SURGE, with saw and file changer, and with bit changer. Make it from "usual" steel, please! Tge Surge is so heavy- I dont like it to carry and to hike.

Hey Leatherman, you fkd mine up.
I paid $301.65 not including shipping & handling.
The set of pliers has a tiny gap in the base where it meets the rest of the tool.
This prevents it from being used for hardwire cutting.
Essentially for myself, rendering the tool an inconvenience to carry.
I just want you to acknowledge this shit, its not about the money. You guys just have dropped on quality over the years and i want you to be aware that we're all aware.

Will there be a version that gets the Surge's saw/file exchanger and then adds a serrated knife?
I already have the Surge with sawe changer. But Surge weighys SO MUCH!
So I prefer don't carry it.
I also want rhe lightest multitool version with saw/ file changer and with "usual" steel. I will use it for hiking and treking.
As I already have 2 Leathermans and 6 Victorinoxes- the ARC by 300€ is so expensive for me. I dont need so special steel.
@@MSkachenite you should look at the P4. If you grind down the phillips driver a bit you can attach the adapter that lets the Suprtool/rebar use Leatherman's bits or 1/4" bits

We need a more afordable tool. Ditch the magnacut blade and call it arc lite for under 200€… and this will be the next wave
Will there be an update to the arc in the near future? Would love to see larger scissors, the wave can opener replacing the stubbie opener, and a chisel edge on the file.
No difference to the steel just a fancy name to how it’s cut. The last sentence sums it up, “ARC is simply better” no proof given as to why it’s better!

When leatherman gives notice that a warranty tool is being shipped back- can you tell from that email if it is repaired or if it is replaced?

A. Blame European up-sellers and tariffs.
B. That's basically the price of a sub 4" Magnacut knife of decent quality in the U.S.
Given the knife steel quality and the optimal selection of all the tools that comes with it, this thing is priced accurately I believe.
It's not the fault of the USA. The $229 price point is what the market is set at. You are upset at the taxes you have to pay. As of today, $229 is equal to 217 Euro.

from the start and first leaks It looks like the only guy who knows the stuff got retired from your company and the bunch of scholars did Arc for us... It's bigger it's heavier it has less possibilities than wave+ with mods and worse feeling in a hand with 2x the price... 10% edge retention is not life changing, and you appeal to this blade with actually bad shape every time... omg, it looks so off to me to level of a dead end of Leatherman brand

I lucked into an early release Arc about a month ago. Other than the sticker shock I am pleased with it. I have never found a better tool than the Wave, so my justification is I didn't buy any new leatherman for 20 years.
It’s great, you came up with an amazing tool. I think pricing it how you did right now? Poor timing. With an amazingly high price. That it’s more expensive than the Charge TTi. I’m honestly shocked and disappointed in Leatherman.
For the same price, I just bought a "ultimate power" blender from Costco with a hundred bucks to spare...

We also got the ARC a couple of weeks ago before it was supposed to be released. Hubby is quite Happy with it. Every SINGLE day he drives me crazy comparing it to the Garage # 5. He owns almost 40 Leatherman tools now ;)
Tell him about the Leatherman "gap" in the cutters.
If you guys don't know what I'm talking about, ask him if his hardwire cutters have a gap like my Leatherman arc does and if it does.. he needs to get it fixed under warranty before it's too late.

Can’t use it because you use magnets to hold tools. It will unusable within days at work (metallic dust).
I work in an environment with metal dust and it is a non-issue. The magnets are tiny and hardly collect anything on them. A little compressed air cleans the tool easily.
