While watching this I pondered if I could run such a race. As I drank my coffee, sitting in my reclining chair, some coffee went down the wrong pipe and I almost choked to death. I answered my own question.
I had a similar question in mind a few years ago after watching Running The Sahara. Moments later I stepped on a Lego piece and was certain I was dying. So I shall remain a spectator of all sports beginning with “Ultra”. 😅
LOVE this! I know sharing what you're eating is really vulnerable so thank you! There are FAR too many athletes on social media underfueling so thank you for showing that it's necessary to eat, and to eat well! 👏
Thank you Tabitha! appreciate that; and YES, it is vulnerable for me to share and not because I'm fearful of sharing what I eat...I LOVE the topic of food and I LOVE to eat, but I do have to deal with ridiculous comments - which is worth it if I can help even one person! =) Keep Choosing Strong!
First: genuinely, thank you for all your content. Second: crack you eggs not on the side of a bowl but on the counter. Third: the easiest way to get a shell out is to use the remaining shell as a scoop 😊 Thank you again, you are such an inspiration
I fell in love with your granimal mindset Sally after I hear your story on the BPN podcast 🔥🔥🔥🔥 It is so inspiring 🙏🙇♂️ Grinding hard like nobody’s business 💪🔥 Keep Hammering
Your kitchen is too die for!! This might be my favorite episode in this series so far. I love learning bits and pieces of what other people are doing. Do you have a specific protein intake goal that you try to hit every day?
And an easy way to dig eggshells out if they do fall in is to use another part of the shell to scoop it. Otherwise sometimes the spatula just pushes it around and it's hard to grab!
I love all of these videos. It was very informative to see how to fuel properly. I have to say that Sally's easy run is probably my sprint but I'm working on it 😄
Beef and rice is our go-to meal also. I have 5 boys, the oldest 2 are into rugby and body building so.....the grocery struggle is REAL. For myself I just get a salad delivery weekly, add a protein and I'm good!
Your kitchen is to die for!! This might be my favorite episode of the series. I love learning bits and pieces from other people. Do you have specific protein goal that you try to hit everyday?
Thanks for watching Allison! I don't think the calorie/protein stats made it into the end of the video...but this was roughly 147grams. I'm not obsessed with tracking; I eat what I need/feel but I do put protein into every meal.
Having come across your videos has made me realize how much I miss running! Love your mindset, too 😊 Out of topic but it's crazy to compare the grocery prices where you live and here in Slovakia, Europe. Since the food prices have been rising so much, it's pretty much similar. Regular tomatoes between €3-4 per kilo and I see organic tomatoes there for just $3.. Just to put it into a perspective, the minimum (and still pretty common!) wage here is around €700 a month brutto 😵💫
Keeping it real at the Grocery Trip. This family is so authentic, shout out to Eddie for the Twinkie shot and the chips. We Love ya'll, plus waiting on a UA-cam Membership button to add extra support. Stay Blessed Everyone.
Wow you are normal!! Beautiful family and thank you for allowing us to see this side of your life!! Btw add 1 or 2 over medium eggs to the bowl meal and it is great plus extra protein! That's a go to for my family as well!!
Great video, my wife eats that healthy food and so should I to help improve my health and running. I'm usually chasing Haggis here on the Scottish hills but can only catch them when they trip up. From Peter.
Plain greek yogurt is an amazinggggggggg topping to taco bowls. Add a pinch of salt and some water to thin it out and it's like a higher protein, delicious, tangy sour cream
I'm a peanut butter addict. And I love bananas and raisin toast. And your smoothies look great! I just can't stomach mixing fruit and veggies at the same time. Might be psychological.
Thank you Sally! So refreshing to see an athlete actually EAT. There’s a few fitness influencers I follow (I don’t count you as one, you’re the real deal) who say they eat plenty of calories and then they post their meals and they are like, 250 cals. Love your realness, love everything about you!!!
I eat about half of the calories and do not know if I be able to eat more, amazing. And if you want crack egg use flat surface and one smash, then you can divide it without the shell falling of.
Thanks for sharing this information on What Healthy food choices there are and when to eat Them 😜🤤😋 Peace ✌️ And Love 💗 from Tucson Arizona Desert 🏜️🙏.
Hey Sally, question for you! You may have answered this before but how many miles do you typically put on a pair of shoes before you replace them? Or do you not have a number and can just tell? I feel like my shoes maybe worn out but I’m not sure. I’m only 23 and everytime I go out to run I feel like I’m coming back with some injury. I ran my first marathon in February this year and injured my foot then once that started feeling better my calve started to hurt a lot, now that is better but my outer hip is hurting a lot. I’m wondering if it had something to do with my shoes or do you think it’s running form?
Hi Sally, can you tell all non-American what's about it to wear a bobble hat or a cap inside the house. Question to your complete nutrition list: Is this really enough for you? Especially on a recovery day (with two exercise sessions) - I suppose - when there was much more training the day before.
Hello Michael! Yes the hat/cap it is popular here in Southern California for ppl to wear hats/caps everywhere both to protect from sun, for warmth and fashion. =) I love that you asked! I also wear a hat a lot because I am always in between training sessions and my hair is messy or not washed ha ha! And YES this was more than 2500 calories. My first session was mobility and some core, body work- I do not burn very many calories for a session like that. My 8 mile run was a recovery run...maybe I burned 400 calories at the most- I am very efficient in calorie burn. For a recovery day this was very fulfilling for me.
@@sallymcraestrength Thanks a lot for your honesty! I know (as a runner too) that we must be pragmatic time and again. 🤗 I asked about your calories because I need two to three days after the weekend battles to offset my energy balance. (As you described after the 100k "training" run)
My secret to a well cracked egg is just the pressure of how hard you hit the egg. I’ll usually pick a sharper edge of a counter or bowl and do one solid hit that cracks the egg about half way. In my experience, prying it open when it’s barely cracked or smashing the egg several times is usually the way you get shells in your food. Maybe this will help someone 😊
I know food is fuel and you, ESPECIALLY you, need to eat things that give you energy. However, don't you EVER have cravings for any of the "bad" stuff? Empty calories don't fuel my body but they sure do fuel my spirit. And what about your kids? Do your kids ever have eat junk? Isn't that part of being a teenager?? Are you ever tempted and if so, how do you cope? I can't imagine you ever giving into temptation bc your will is so strong. I'm speechless by your determination.
The secret to a well cracked egg is to crack it on a flat surface. When you crack it on the side of the pan the eggshell gets poked up inside the egg. That wont happen when you do it on the counter 😜
Hard to believe that those small meals is enough to fuel all the training you do, I work out MUCH less than you and have to eat at least 3000kcal a day to just maintain and not loose to much muscle. I’m a man, but still, i would have thought you burned a lot more than what you fuelled your self with there. Or maybe you have just become super efficient when running/working out? Wo you burn less calories I guess? 😊
Not sure if you were able to watch the whole episode, but this is a recovery day and I ate more than 2500 calories. Comparing yourself to me might not be wise, especially not knowing the complete details of my training or caloric needs.I am efficient in calorie burn and have been consistently training for almost 3 decades so I have a good handle on what my body needs. I'm healthy, strong and have been injury free for a decade. This is a solid and fulfilling day of eating for me on a recovery day.
@@sallymcraestrength Thanks for answering, dont get me wrong i was just a little shocked someone who works out as much as you do 3 hours strenght + 10 mile run for example get enough nutrition from those meals only. Its amazing how efficient your body has become and im just in awe and super impressed of what you are doing. Comparing my self to you, would be like comparing with Michael Jordan in Basketball, im not doing that, haha.

I want to run an Ultra at least once in my life. I don't care if it takes until I'm 90. I'm gonna do it.
Eddie had me dying with the lays and Twinkie zoom in 😂. I’ve been eating up all this content, thanks for sharing your lives!

One of my favourite things about your videos is how much you guys laugh. Its wonderful. Loved the training gear video too ♡
thank you!
7:15 the best way to remove the eggshell from the pan is to scoop it out using the eggshell half 👌🏻
Loved how she kept it real. Thanks for the tips on the quick meals.
thank you ! gotta be quick and easy always!

Your recovery run is my challenge run.
Love this!! So encouraging! Your “recovery day” is a BIG day for me!! I adore your family
Great video Sally! A fool proof way to avoid eggshells is to crack on a flat surface. Cheers!
Got it! Thank you 🙌

Flat surface for egg cracking: truth lol

Sally thank you for sharing what you eat please make some more videos of what you eat for fueling or you should make a ultra runner meals book 📕
that's the plan! I love my long run fueling days!! we will make more!

Thank you for watching!
Hi from Australia Sally. Love your vids. You are such a nice person. My wife followed your recommendation on the Nike biker shorts. Love's them!

Beast mode! Nice work.
I appreciate you taking the time to explain why you use reds and greens!
UHG you are one of my most favorite humans. Keep making videos please.
thank you for watching Den!
The lays make my cart often 😊
That was the best 🥑 slicing job I've ever seen. 🤯🤯🤯Going to get some Ezekiel Raisin 🍞 today!

Oh I’m with you! Did raw, vegan, low carb, not healthy at all so now I eat like you do! Just not as much yet
What trail are you running on at 6:00? Might move to Southern California myself, so just curious.
Very nice diet... most of it is natural food, eggs, meat, veggies... keep it up!
Holy Gucamole! What brand are those fabulous overalls? They look so comfy!
Super cool watching what you fuel with. Great energy SM
thank you!
I looove the positive vibes hahaha
Literally my daily shake after the morning workout for the last x years. Nice to know I’m following the path of greatness
Great content!
The zooming in on the twinkies really got me 😂😂
Ha ha ha Eddie is too much!!😂I was laughing so hard post production after seeing that 🤣
Crack the egg on the counter and then open it with your fingers into the pan! Way less chance of getting shell in
where are your running glasses from ? I need them 😫

I'd love to see your morning routine ❤
Should I count calories?
Great info as always...but im left with a lingering question- anyone know the brand/type of spatula used to cook the ground beef?! 😅
truly an inspiration🙂

They are Nike Aeroswift shorts!

Good video. It’s good to see how you would fuel. There’s a fine line between having to eat a lot but not get fat 😂 But enough to keep you fueled
“Very easy…8 mile run”
looks good and easy
Very concerned that this otherwise excellent content is marred by what appears to be SMOOTH peanut butter ... please tell me i'm wrong
Sally, which brand of bands do you use?
I buy basic ones off amazon
I go to the same exact Albertsons Haha
Pro tip for the eggs- crack on a flat surface!
thank you!
You gotta crack your eggs on a flat surface, not on the corner of a pan. Haven’t had a shell in my pan in 2 years

Pro tip: crack your eggs on a flat surface not the edge of a pan which forces shell into the egg ✌️
Do you not drink coffee/caffeine?
It's in the opening scene! =) I had two cups of coffee with collagen protein powder- my coffee was 200+ calories for the day
