  • How long has it been since you replaced your wedges? If you're like me, you may have been waiting a little too long to pull the trigger on an upgrade.
    In this video we put our old and new wedges on the Trackman to see if worn out grooves really effect how your wedge performs and what a new wedge can do to improve your consistency.

    Dude you gotta learn how to hit on a range. Put the ball right behind your last divot. It hurt me to watch you chew up that pristine range!

    On point! I just purchased myself a 56 and a 60 degree Callaway PM grind wedges and noticed such a HUGE difference on the course. Good stuff gentlemen.

    Supprised the new 60-degree club didn't have higher spin numbers. (Maybe I hit the differently but my spin numbers are close to 12 000 without even trying to get the most out of them) Actually have to slow down my speed to avoid getting the spin to go out of control. That's the big reason I prefer my old 60-degree actually. It's way easier to know what's going to happen with that one. (I use the one that going to work best that day - Sometimes you don't want those big backspins, right?!) Anyway. Interesting video. Great job guys!

    Great video. Love to see lower launch and higher spin rates. Makes me want to pick up new wedges.

      Amazing how the launch angle numbers jumped up on the clubs with the worn grooves.

    so there was one chunky shot that brought your nike wedge way down? I'm not saying new grooves do nothing, but throwing out outliers is important in numbers. it'd be a better test to compare a new sm7 vs an sm7 used for a season

      With a steep swing like that there will be a shot like that with the new wedge as well

    Wow Pro's change their wedges 4 times a year? That's good info there. My wedges are 3-5 years old, maybe time to look at some new ones for Christmas.

    • @Golficity
      @Golficity  5 років тому +1

      Yup, but keep in mind, pros are playing well over 200 rounds of golf per year (plus lots of practice sessions). The average golfer should get about 100 rounds out of a wedge before it needs replacing.

  • @serenityinsilence

    In my opinion, obviously new wedges are great. When it comes to your old wedges, as long as you practice with them you will be fine. As we get used to a new wedge through its lifespan, we tend to learn how it will react around the greens. Over time you get used to how much roll out to expect on certain types of shots. I’d say you should game your wedge as long as you can, unless you can financially commit to buying new wedges every couple of seasons. Most amateur golfers aren’t good enough with their wedges to reap the benefits of always having fresh grooves anyways.
    Not to say you wouldn’t benefit from it, just that it isn’t super important when you are starting out. You will save the most strokes on your game if you can sink putts. I feel your putter is more important than any other club in the bag to be comfortable with, and practice as often as possible.

    with a Trackman indoors, make sure you have the dot on your ball facing away or it will not pick up the correct spin of the ball because your indoors and it doesnt have enough time to read the ball.

  • @Zacharydderrick
    @Zacharydderrick 3 місяці тому

    Low to high, the spin consistency isn't really very different. Your strike is what is causing the variation. The club isn't making much difference, imo. There's a common fault among data junkies that attribute all variation to the clubs and not to the strike. Must show standard deviation separation.

      The facility that we were filming at specifically asked us to use a random divot pattern and not the traditional line. Apparently it grows in better this way at some places. 🤷🏼‍♂️

    Don't use 15 year old wedges. Do a comparison between a year old wedges 2 yr old wedges and new ones.
    Also those divots ...ugh ..... Make a nice clean square not dig up the whole place

    Don’t be embarrassed that you bought your wedge at Sams Club, if it worked for you it was a good buy. My only question is did you have to buy the wedge in bulk or just one?
