- Offshore sailing in the Doldrums, a sailors nightmare. Join us as we plot our way through frustrating calms and challenging squalls sailing from South America to Trinidad. With nothing to see but sea sky, we had our heads in the clouds as nature painted a beautiful skyscape above us.
We have been sailing around the world for 6 years after setting off from England in 2016 on board our 37ft sail boat Florence. Join us as we share the highs, lows, and challenges of travelling around the world by boat, Sailing offshore across the Oceans and exploring remote locations with our own little tiny house. Boat life out at sea on the ocean and off the grid.

The production value of this video is insanely high. Sound, music, editing, cinematography ... all of it brought together into a brilliant package. You two do indeed have the best sailing channel out there. Thank you.
and their accent just brings the whole thing up a couple of notches :)
With the quality of not just cinematography, but also the story telling, you two need to pitch a TV series to whoever. Matt and Amy sail......insert area of the world here. Maybe you might have to add a so called celebrity, but it would be brilliant 👏 😀

Good video but I’ve never seen so many commercials. Wow
Stunning photography, brilliant skies, excellent music, charming as hell hosts... it doesn't get much better. Thank you both so much from this armchair sailor.
BEST ACTUAL SAILING CHANNEL ON UA-cam!
The cloud formations along with sunrises and sunsets at sea are just breathtaking

I love Friday afternoons when a new video is posted. I've tracked your whole trip and living in Florida it would be great if there was a meetup. All of the videos have been brilliant. Thank you for sharing. Safe travels the rest of the way home.
I’m not sure how many hours you spend at it Amy, but ‘the cut’ and production is just wonderful … from a laptop on the chart table. I just love your posts and so wish to be back there ocean sailing
Hands down the most beautifully filmed and narrated sailing channel capturing the true romance of sail and you both also. You should be very proud of what you have achieved. I’m blessed to have found you on YT.
Beautiful sailing! Very sad to see ships still dumping trash out the back of the ship. Licenses and ship permits should be held accountable.
I'm fairly new to your channel, but have to say how much I thoroughly enjoy your videos. The cinematography, your choice of music, sailing skills and ability to show us the sheer unadulterated beauty of our planet. The images of the sky and clouds in such a vast array of colours was truly magnificent. Thankyou.
Great great video as usual. Today's video has the most stunning clouds formations. Thanks for sharing your life aboard Florence.
PS. I hope the marlin made it :)
You guys make my day every fortnight. Congrats on your circumnavigation and the awesome quality of you vlog. Please keep going, don’t stop when you get home 😅
I sub to a few sailing channels and I have to say your production and story telling is the best of the bunch.
Another great episode .These come out at lunch time in California and Amy's cooking always makes me hungry. Nice fish Matt 🐟
Matt, did I hear a 'dankie' when Amy handed you the bowl of mahi-mahi and stir-fry? Amy's cooking always looks delicious. Hope it was 'lekker'. Just love your channel.
I just love it when you two simply wait it out for some wind to come along and not just turn on the engine when the wind disappears. I think years ago sailing, my Cal 29 and then my Challenger 35 Ketch, sailing on Lake Ontario, NY/Ontario, Canada, I would most always wait for the lost wind to reappear before using the engine. Most years We sailed every weekend somewhere on the Lake and never usually used 40 gallons of gas or diesel in the season from April 1st to November 1st. We never had to lister to the engine except for entering port or a marina.
Many years ago in the late 1970's, I was sailing from Recife Brazil to the Azores and spent approximately 2 weeks becalmed/ or moving very slowly in the doldrums without the use of an engine which we ran only to charge batteries. I actually really enjoyed it, we had many fish had taken residence around the hull, when we were moving usually there were several dorado in our bow wave, I spent many hours sitting on the bow trying to catch them (successful on one or two occasions). We swam daily either by being towed at low speed behind the boat or when completely becalmed was amazing to just jump overboard to cool off and look down at the school of barracuda just visible below or we had dolphins visit numerous times while we swam. We had one small striped fish about 8 or 9 centimetres which we first noticed in Brazil sheltering under our hull when we were at anchor and it stayed with us the entire passage to the Azores. I thoroughly enjoyed sailing through the doldrums - it felt like a summer vacation, though by the end we were very glad to reach Ponta Del Gada after 42 days at sea a voyage we had expected to take 30 days
Florence is still one of the absolute best sailing channel!
Great B-Roll and music!
Fun story and lovely couple!
Cheers
Really very inspiring to see the way you fixed the frayed sock, and broken sail lug! All the things need to be OK on a boat ... a bit like steeplejacks not looking down, it doesn't really do as a sailor to reflect that your entire enterprise is hanging by some cunningly arranged threads. Amazing and Beautiful video - they just keep getting better. Thanks so much.
Stunning visuals. Love that sunrise. Your video is just beautiful, I would never see it if you didn't bring it to us. Longer footage on the rain would be appreciated.
your videos are amazing. I am hooked. videography, scripted naturally and truly relating the feeling of being at sea. thank you for your amazing content.
You really do capture the feel of sailing the Caribbean waters.
Another awesome video, the quality of your filming is so professional. Thanks for sharing the beautiful journey with the world 🌎. Much love to you both ❤
So glad that you all got to see Trinidad and Tobago, minus the garbage. Would have liked to have stumbled across your paths when you were here.
I've absolutely loved crossing the doldrums every time, lazy days, calm water, swimming in the deep water off the back of the boat, I love it. Not great if you're in a hurry though.
Wow guys it so great to see ya'll injoying your self, having fun , matt great fishing you are in a fantastic place Trinidad has a fantastic rainforest, great night life, just love the way you guy's explain what's happening on your passage Amy, matt be safe, have plenty of fun 🤙🏾
Brilliant! The best sailing channel on YT!
So good to see two young people actually enjoying it, even the rough weather, without the usual millennial complaining. Your 37 year old yacht is a real thorough bred that can show the modern fat arsed tubs a thing or two about being seaworthy!
You make even the doldrums look interesting. Well done, love your channel.
Awesome video as always guys. I’m relishing each and every episode. I throughly enjoy your storytelling and cinematography. Thank and Cheers 🍻
Formalities first, I was stunned to see what you saw with the garbage
In the northern Pacific there are huge ships and a massive collection system collecting plastics from the water, and then there's this. I felt angry.
On to pleasantries, one of the very best you have shown us. Those stunning scenes of cloud and penetrating sunlight bring back my days of tuna fishing for 5 days at sea, I must admit, I had a tear for the shear beauty and excellent memories brought back.
I will be looking on this one for a while and pausing on those still shots, beautiful photographs.
16:41 , caught a mahi-mahi fish,😍.
Pity that container ship and their poor respect for the ocean and dumping. One would assume their rules would be iron. The best female narrator. Love listening on
another wonderful vlog, love the pure raw footage of the sea on your journey…you truly are my most loved sailingchannel..thank you for letting us be part of your journey
Hi,
Both my wife and I sail, but just a 26 foot Mc Gregor… We started watching your videos quite a while back and liked them so much we went back to the beginning and watched them all. Today is a momentous occasion as we’ve just caught up and are now in real time! 🎉🎉🎉 The down side is we also have to wait a couple of weeks for the next instalment 😟Anyway, great job, we’ve loved them all! Keep it up!!!
Also sail a Macgregor 26S. Slowly setting it up as seasonal coastal cruiser. Struggling with how short the trailer is. Is yours single axle factory model?
@@artsmith103 Ours is a 26m with double back axels. We trail from Matlock in Derbyshire to our mooring in South Wales about 300 miles. We generally sail the coast of Wales, Devon and Cornwall, although during the first lockdown did 500 miles on the inland waterways. Nice to hear from a fellow Mac owner… especially one who can spell MacGregor! (Auto-correct! 😜)
@@peakvisiontv The 26m is a whole different world. Enjoy.
Spectacular videography, music and narration. Living our lives vicariously through you two! Beautifully done!
Big up trinidad people.
Way overdue to tell you both what a great job you do!! I thoroughly enjoy your series!! I’m a Great Lakes sailor for almost 50 years. Some brief sailing in the Bahamas as well. Thanks so much for sharing your journey. Godspeed!!
Great show! All adventure no boat work!
Fan-bloody-tastic! As always.
Fantastic video guys. Thanks for the awesome update, stunning views and a real insight into sailing the globe. Great stuff. Stay safe and can't wait for your next video. 👍
Beautiful filming! The clouds, the waters and great choice of music! Thank you for this lovely video
Loving your travels. Chrissy and I hangout for your video each fortnight. Safe travels.
Another great video!
I’ve sailed that passage into the Trinidad anchorage, past diamond rock, many times but never really appreciated how beautiful it was until seeing it again on your video. Things do look different when viewed from a ship.
It’s illegal for any ship to dump plastic at sea, so the vessel you passed was being both irresponsible and breaking the law.
You have to be deeply in love to spend this much time together. In addition to sailing, my wife and I have enjoyed so adventures since meeting in college in 1983. Best Wishes!
I love your photographs of the sea and the sky in the morning. I used to love getting off the dock or the anchor at 5 am before my crew/family was awake, up, and around. It was so beautiful to be under way, either sail or power, at the break of day. Just me and my sailboat. How beautiful nature is in the morning.
The hardest thing you face now is normal life, awesome video guys😎😎🏴🏴
best sailing channel. thx for your great content!
Some people look up to Sir Robin Knox-Johnson, Jimmy Cornell or Captain Cook. Matt and Amy are my heroes. You're doing something so incredible. Another outstanding video guys. You are pioneers. You're doing it without clickbait nonsense, bikini thumbnails and bright yellow text. Amazing.
Wow - that passage really did have it all. And annoying and frustrating thought it must have been at times, we really enjoyed watching you tackle it with your usual good humour and recognition that even a crappy pssage is MUCH better than beng stuck onshore for months on end (ask us how we know 🙂).
Beautiful video -- The seas and skies where amazing!
a really beautiful episode, thank you
brilliant ep. the sky is amazing
Always get excited when your vids drop. I watch in awe at the ease and expertise of how you both sail. If just a fraction of that rubs off, I’d be happy. Thanks for the inspiro.
Another quality video. Well done, and thank you again for sharing your journey with us. ⛵
Great video, as usual. Especially loved the scene with the pterydactals/frigate birds were dog fighting. ;-)
that is great your boat has theme music
As always, SUPERB!
Sweet T&T oh how I miss you. 🥰 Hope you enjoy the Carnival festivities and do a Manta dive in Tobago. Be safe. Just love watching you guys.
Beautiful video, thanks.
You guys produce the greatest video’s !!
Another magnificent sail .. Wonder Full scenes,. Stunning places ..Thankyou.❤️🙏
Well done both !!! . Safe journey to Tobago..looking forward to exploring it with you !!!...ps what a monster fish 😊 take care ❤ A
Another awesome video. Thanks.
Thank you for an excellent video without faux drama but great story telling. I am proud you are English. 🙂
Stunning skies!!
I can tell from the bubbles in the batter that your pancake game is strong. It's not a trivial thing. 😆😆
Another excellent video. Thank you. ❤
Beautiful photography. Thank you
Thank you for the time and effort you put into these videos, so I can live vicariously through them.
(the wife gets motion sick just driving, and she swears that the boat was moving on our Rhine River course 🤢)
YES! ANOTHER VIDEO!
Hi Matt and Amy, its good to see you again. Sweet, peaceful sailing you had in the Doldrums all the way down on your way to Trinidad. I forgot whether I have mentioned it before but I was born and raised next to the ocean in a house located a few yards from the beach in the city of Cartagena Colombia, sailed for five years in the bay area of Bahia Portete, Colombia on the most northern tip of South America, 700 miles west of Trinidad, working in the area of marine operations, on board a tugboat helping in buoy maintenance, berthing and departure, draft surveys etc, of huge 180.000 DWT vessels, for the giant oil company Exxon. Beautiful, stunning scenery arriving at anchorage off Trinidad. I wish you a safe trip on your way to Tobago. The bears went on vacations again, so this time around I send to you only big hugs, love you guys, rgs 🌎⛵❤
Finally I've travelled the length of your video journey. I've been greedy, sailing six years in three months. Your downwind rig with genoa poled out to weather is what we used in the Portuguese trades. I've not seen it used elsewhere. Sadly we got stuck in the Med, and then life took over...
As a once documentary film editor, can I also praise your editing, camera work and story telling. You get the size of the seas better than I've seen before, it seems simply by getting the camera low to the water. Moving from culture and wildlife episodes to boat fixing to sailing, it's all sensationally good. Pitch to BBC3 maybe? But then they'd want changes, and your films are perfect as they are. Waiting for the next episode, when you're ready. Fair winds and safe passage.
Thanks for another exciting video
Beautiful sky during the trip. Enjoyed the video, thanks.
Absolutely stunning this passage and footage guys!
I have loved watching your adventures may you have many more. ⛵
Another awesome video with some great sailing as usual. Xx
Wow! Your photography skills make this episode Pop! Wonderful views you've shared here. Thanks!
Beautiful images you’ve captured!
Just glorious guys xx🤗🤗
Just checked out your video from 6 years ago when last in the Caribbean and you guys look even happier and gorgeous now! Must be all the Vitamin Sea you’ve been having 😂
All class as normal.. You make doldrum sailing look and feel exciting..
Excellent vidio the photography of the clouds was amazing thanks for taking us along
Entertaining and interesting once again. We look forward to your next episode.
You guys are amazing. I love the sunrises and sunsets! Safe travels.
Thank you for sharing 😊
You've captured some spectacular images
Great video! I always like your videos, but this one was exceptional! 👏
Beautiful photography thanks for sharing
really amazing!
Fabulous video production .thanks for sharing your journey with us
Great video…kept my interest…quite an accomplishment to actually sail around the world…well done….stay safe and sound…
now Amy, when you woke from your last night watch you started talking about the final push home to england, you got me very sad. I realized the journey will be over for us watching and enjoying your vlogs. Your adventures will continue , so.... please go around the world once more. We love you Matt and Amy.
Don't worry John, in a few episodes time we will share our future plans...
Great adventure, really well shot and put together piece by a very likeable pair of adventurers. Well done you.
Thank you for the video. Congratulations on your circumnavigating the globe. I'm certain you have gained a lot of sailing experience. Safe travels.
I'm so jealous of you too I don't watch enough because I'm busy
Ahh…the patience sailing brings with the winds or lack of. Horizons were so other worldly in all their beauty. Cheers 🥂 and a welcome respite.
Thanks for sharing, as always most enjoyable to watch...did I hear a 'Dankie' instead of a 'Thank You' for the fish dish..maybe due to your long stay in Cape Town 🙂
It's great to watch such a well made film when there is so much amateurish crap on UA-cam !
