The 3 U23B's 2397 ,98, 99 (yellow/green ones) went to RMDI/Delevan at Pittston PA to be parted out and scrapped. The later acquired U23's were sold off to various shortlines and private parties. See the RBMN photo roster at www.rrpicturearchives.net/locoList.aspx?id=RBMN for further research as to dispositions.
David in Western PA we also refer to the waste piles as 'gob piles'. In the Northeastern PA Anthracite Region, it's 'culm'. Don't ask me why! There is a LOT of coal in there as well as rock. It burns just fine (and hot) in a fluidized-bed boiler.
The locomotive in Erie Lackawana colors 2461 IS a C 425. I do believe when built it was for EL.
Yes, that's correct. EL had both C424's and C425's.
Its amazing how diferent Port Clinton looked back then. Where did the U23Bs go?

Those ol' U Boats have fantastic horns. But I'm diggin' that little CF7! Also the horn on that ALCo is pretty cool.
Nice step back in time Jack, thanks, always enjoy old GE's.
I love the sound of those old U-Boats. If GE's current offerings sounded like this, I don't think I'd get so bored with them!
they need a second version of U-boats ;~ i wanna see them back. #BringBackUniversalSeriers
They do have hints at it, but the noise abatement regulations have certainly neutered the sound.
This is another excellent video, not found this before !
