Since I was a teen taking lessons for my Private back in the 70's, I have been aware of and an admirer of the Globe Swift. Back then you could find them listed for sale in the magazines classified for $2500 out the door. Never managed to get a ride in one, although I have a flying model!
@@mike321go BTW, I owned N78274 for seven years. Sold her in April of '19. Got tired of constant maintenance issues. I bought the plane from the Swift Museum Foundation in March of 2012 and poured money into it. She was a much better plane when I sold than when I purchased. She had the Lyc )-360 with a CS prop, glass cowl, as well as a few other STC's or field approved (sorta) mods that made for a good performer. I typically got 150 to 155 mph, and a climb rate of around 1500fpm. Whenever I see one like yours that look original, it makes my heart flutter. These are still among my favorite GA airplanes. Anyway, good thing you went with the C145 engine.
So a roadtrip in the air less cops too. But more rules... less likely to die on the trip at the hands of meth-addled truckies but the starts and stops are way more hairy. :) Reckon I might stick to motorcycles.
I had 28 kt head winds the whole way back. I could have made it but didn’t want to chance it. And the way up I had to wait in carson city for stead to open up. Didn’t need fuel for the way up.
What a way to ruin what could have been a good vid. Had to quit after 45 seconds because of the childish music. Not wort subbing to this channel . Not hard to tell why aft 16 years there are only 340 subscribers, hehehe
@@mike321go Now thats a waste of breath, I haven't even posted anything on this channel. Like yours, why would anyone even subscribe to it. hehehe. You say you don't care, yet you take time to reply. Triggered eh.

My buddy Don in Gardnerville NV was the Swift guy. Don did stick conversions and had the STC's on a roll back canopy: neat planes,

Wow. She looks like she just rolled off the assembly line at the Globe factory, circa 1946. Beautiful.
Yes she is! All the way down to its single dial altimeter and hydraulic power pack.
@@mike321go And the C-125 engine?

You needed a fuel stop getting to Reno? I had no issues getting to Reno without the extra ten gallons on board. What air speed are you indicating?
