      The horror to me is that short films approached this value some 10 years ago. I remember being a child, mesmerized by such stories. Echo Torch gains me an echo of that experience. It feels the same. The production value feels the same. But it was 10 years ago. A day that feels like yesterday... so long ago...

      Edit (because I rewatch this) : My theory about that big guy who chase him might be a prisoner of war and when he died, he might be a corrupted soul that escaped the underworld and his mind or brain might be filled up with aggressive things like the war. That's why the room was filled with scratches.
      One more thing if you noticed, when he met his mother, she was in a different room alone and brought her back to the hall where every souls were dancing and met the father. But, the things is, why she would stay there alone, right? So, I might think that the big guy is a threat to the other souls too. That's why they didn't left the hall nor the room.

      So even if they don't disturb you.. They still look not good (ex: died because of accident, you'll see blood everywhere, incomplete / broken body parts, organs, or if they hung themselves then you can see that their neck is broken, they can't even stand straight with their heads up.. Etc etc.. It's disgusting bro, trust me

    Memories. I once worked in an old Asylum built in the 1870's that looked and felt exactly like this. Old bricks, slate roofs, wavy old glass. I could sometimes feel the pain of those who had been trapped there, at their last stop. No hope. No release. I still dream about it, but it's all gone now. The rot, the rust. The ashes. The dust. The aching sadness.

    Not going to lie - this short film brought a tear to this old man's eye. Without having a single piece of dialogue this film managed to tell story that not only intrigued me, frigthened me (a little, but still), and managed to touch me on an emotional level very few films have managed to. For that alone I tip my hat to the creative team behind this film. I don't think this film may have worked as a full feature length film, not in the way it was made, but damn it - I'd love to see more adventures of this invetor and his ghost-revealing lightbulb. Even though I am a veteran of foreign war standing here today with my wife in the next room who waited for my return, this story had me enthralled from beginning to end. But you see this story never really ends for as long as we remember what came before and continue striving forward our sons and daughters can learn which mistakes are not worth the risks. They can become what we are all consider to be worth remembering.

      Every person has his own qareen (a type of djinn) since the time of his birth, that keeps leading him to astray, and stays inside him just like blood flows in the entire body.
      When a human dies normal death his qareen becomes free because his job is done by the death of the human who he was assigned to. Where he goes after the human dies nobody knows, however when people do black magic rituals in an attempt to summon the soul of the deceased then what they see is not actually that person’s soul but his/her qareen that looks exactly like that person.
      When qareen of the deceased person shows up, he has the same looks and voice as the deceased person. That makes people, who summoned, mistakenly think that they are interacting with a soul, i.e. it further leads them to strengthen their false beliefs and encourages them to do more black magic.
      Hence, this tells us that qareen not only survives after a person’s death but he can take part in spreading further mischief on earth and can lead people to go astray.
      I hope it helps.

    This makes me want a kinda Ghostbusters prequel set in like WWII, where a special platoon of supernatural specialists and scientists from all the Allied nations has to fight Hitler's occult division, with melee ghost lanterns and weak proton packs. Basically the nazis are trying to summon ghosts under the direction of Ivo Shandor, who at the end surrenders and defects but because the war is basically over and occult research was disregarded after the war, he just moves to New York and builds the Shandor Building. Throw in some references to Gozer and the main characters being related to the originals somehow.

    I'm wondering what does this film imply here? Does objects have souls? Does moments in time have souls? What was those fish ghosts? Who was controlling or even what was that puppet? Who or what was that mad ghost? And also this bulb seems not only to light up those ghosts but also is an effective weapon against them, I want answers, I want more, what a wonderful movie

    • @SirusRotv
      @SirusRotv 2 роки тому +7

      If i had to spitball some scifi nonsense together, that chemical altered the light gradient to a point that it registered those phantoms or spectres somehow. It is said ghosts are comprised of an electromagnetic wavelength, so between the conductive energy and the chemical he was using, it more than likely resonated with those wavelengths, practically bringing them to life. And as for why the bulb can harm them, when two surges of energy collide, one stronger than the other it tends to end in a destructive fashion. Having no way of properly conducting the energy, Whatever matter that strange blue man was comprised of was broken down and blown away, or at melted. As for the puppet, i have no idea. But i think some spirits can kind of transcend their original shape depending on how long they exist. The puppet had no voice anymore, and likely only had a few remaining thoughts in its decayed presence, its very existence a metaphor for being tethered to that building, since thats all it knows.
