That’s a good point. The world is so corrupt in some places, that being able resist the corruption and stay morally good in the face of adversity is sometimes seen as weakness, rebellious and or traitorous to those whom have been consumed by “evil”. Tbh, I remember a news article about a police officer who was suspended just because he was nice to a homeless person, by buying them food. Like seriously? What is wrong with the world to the point that we punish those who are willing to selflessly support the others? I think "Agent Carter" should've been a better choice for sexism. And "Agents of SHIELD" in the "Agents of HYDRA" arc for the propaganda point. And "Cloak & Dagger" could've better represented the slave trade which they explore in Season Two, while "Runaways" tackles homelessness. "Captain Marvel" I think best tackles the dehumanization that happens in war.

I would say depression from Thor after the end of Infinity War. Yes, it could be the result of PTSD, but when we see Thor's lifestyle afterwards (Endgame), it is safe to say that he was battling severe depression. The reason being not being able to save the ones he loved... Being a failure and not being able to see that life can unfortunately knock you down, but you have the choice of soldiering on and being afraid of finding peace within you and move on stronger.

    • @jonathanmartin8113

@vimal_ jyothi______ exactly! Sorry, it was a typo it's "could be" instead of "would be".

I also wanted to write this example! However, I do think that part of the reason what brought on depression for him was repeated trauma and grief that he did not have the opportunity to work through properly... He lost his mother, went through a rough breakup, lost his father, friends, home and finally his last remaining relative, his brother, in a span of a couple years, which is a blink of an eye for a 1500 years old being. That would send anyone for a loop, and Thor is typically the type who bottles up his negative feelings, trying to force a cheerful and optimistic demeanor when he feels anything but. So it made sense that when he failed at the last thing that had him going (defeating Thanos), then he just crumbled completely.

    • @UmbraKrameri
      @UmbraKrameri 2 роки тому +2

Also, for me, who also struggles with depression, the main positive message was that he was still worthy in the end of wielding Mjolnir. His depression didn't get magically cured and he was still fat and had drinking problems, but it didn't diminish his inherent value as a human being.

"Sometimes my team-members don't tell me things..."
Says the one keeping the murder of Howard and Maria Stark a secret from their son...
But seriously: CA:CW was a cluster-fuck of epic proportions, where Team Cap became terrorists because they thought they knew better than the rest of the world, because they didn't trust Tony Stark. If the Avengers posed as a united front, they could have put pressure on the Sovokia Accords signing governments to concede: "Regulations and procedures for Superhero Accountability: Yes. Intrusion into the human and civil rights of Enhanced Individuals: No."
I mean, they could have been part of the process and would have been like: "We support the principle, but this incarnation of the Accords is dissatisfactory. If you don't like it, here is our collective resignation from the Avengers."
      Because there are principles:
-- Sovereingty: Every country has the right to deny superheroes entry and establish rules of conduct for them. Superheroes just can't go around willy-nilly and enter countries without their permission without consequences.
-- Professionals: What happened in Lagos was an example what happens when superheroes swoop in think they know better than the ANTI-TERRORISM PROFESSIONALS!!!
-- Superheroes are NOT above the Law: As it says on the tin. Who supervises the Avengers? What procedures of evaluation of missions are there? Who holds them accountable? Who decides who becomes an Avenger? Who is reliable for damages? On what authority do the Avengers act? AND WHO THE FUCK LET WANDA MAXIMOFF -- A HYDRA TERRORIST -- INTO THE AVENGERS?!!!
And who pays for their stuff and lodging? Oh, right! Tony Stark was their sugar daddy why always being "Just a Consultant"... And then Steve Rogers thanks him by keeping secrets from him and then trying to kill him in Siberia, and turning into an internationally wanted Terrorist.
AND WHY THE FUCK DID CLINT BARTON -- WHO RETIRED!!! -- ABANDON HIS FAMILY?!!! IF I WERE HIS WIFE, I WOULD DIVORCE THIS ASSHOLE!!!!!
AND ANT MAN IS SUCH AN IDIOT!!!! IRL he would go to prison after that stunt, and would have his visitation rights with his daughter revoked. But no! When Steve Rogers tells him to jump, he will ask "How high?"!
The Sokovia Accords as they were were bad. But apparently only Tony Stark believed in accountablity and responsibility. Team Cap just wanted to do whatever they pleased, because "MuH fReEdUm!"...

It dealt with unilateral action very similar to the US invasion of Iraq despite the UN disagreeing. The US much like cap says it decided the potential threat was worth action despite a lack of international cooperation. In both situations the threat wasn’t realized and both cap and the US had to face the consequences of hiding information from those they are supposed to serve, cap with Tony and the US with its citizens. Difference is Cap becomes rogue for his actions and suffers consequences whereas the US didn’t really get in trouble for the invasion of Iraq and false premise of wmd’s

Appreciate this one. Marvel addressed serious issues in both comics (ie: when the Dept. of Health, Education and Welfare and the Senate requested that Stan Lee address the drug issue. Marvel published this without the OK of the Comics Code Authority) and films, but in a way that entertains and gives the message within the film, much like Star Trek.
Capt. Marvel can also be a take on prejudice. Much like Star Trek VI, where Captain Kirk realized that not all Klingons are by nature evil, Carol learned that not ALL Skrulls are evil*; Star Trek : Enterprise did a similar tale in the episode Detained, when Capt. Jonathan Archer and T’Pol ran into a zealot after all Suliban, though only a few joined the cabal who were given genetic enhancements by the Future Man.
    * “Who would I be without my enemy?”
    - Captain James T. Kirk, Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country
A nice thing about Marvel, its heroes/heroines are Never perfect; they’re Human, and are seen and allowed to make mistakes and face the consequences.
