2024! Still love this song. Anyone else!
I'll never get over this song.....
This song is awesome.
Still gives me chills, love this song and timeless. Always loved Edwin ❤ ♥ 💕 💖 🔥🔥🔥👌👌🤘🏽🤘🏽
Absolutely 💯 One of the best voices of always and forever, we don't get this raw vocals now. I'll be the biggest fan of his life 💜💜💖💖🔥🔥🔥🥰🥰🥰💯💯💯💯😎
Watching the office here again all the videos
Here in 2024. I think it’s awesome he sounds even better now than he did in 97.
He has a few great tunes
That's from 97? I was just trying to remember when it got out. Thanks! You saved me the searching.
Uh no, but the current version is still ok.
Props to that bass player. Hitting that high harmony like a pro.
He's a pro
Definitely
@@RockNRoll__ Not just a pro, he's a Bro
seriously so hard.
Wowza. Killing it
The standout performance is the bassist with those harmonies!
yeah, he really amazed me
@Barrett Brayan fuck off

Good song
Yes! Harmonies can make or break a melody….so beautiful!
January 2025. Still here. Those backing vocals… whoa.
He must have sung this song a million times already and yet he sings it with such passion as if it's a new song. Good job. Real pro.
This is one of those songs I wish I wrote
It's because I think he truly believes the words, and feels that way... Doesn't have to fake it
Kiddix he knows its his meal ticket and he fucking owns it
STILL A ONE HIT WONDER THO./.......
Trevor Jones A damn good one hit!!
Forever ago, Edwin McCain did a small set in St Louis as part of a fundraiser for our children’s hospitals. I was volunteering when he came in. He’s… he’s just a good guy.
He was as sweet and goofy, then as he seems to be now. The line “I’ll be better when I’m older“ became so heartbreaking to me as some of the kids that he interacted with, and played for, never made it to adulthood. Bittersweet memories.
His heart and kindness will always be remembered, in addition to his voice. I love every aspect of this song, and the bassist’s harmonies are perfect
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ AMEN AMEN AMEN 🙏 🙌
💯! Loved him in 97 as much as now.
🥺❤
The bass player really nails the harmonies.. those are some high harmonies & he blends perfectly with him.
I know aye, I forgot about Edwin when the dude blasted out that first note
yup, it was almost unreal lol
Yeah man..he really nails it
+Dan Grizzle (Eminence Front) That bass player is a friend of mine, his name is Jason Pomar and he can really sing! We'd go to karaoke years ago and people's jaws would be on the floor when he did Roxanne.
+Jonathan Hobbs He's impeccable.
We're now 20 yrs older and we're now listening to this on UA-cam instead of Winamp.
winamp, it really whips the llama's ass.
Winamp turns all your files to winamp files. Good times
Forgot all about Winamp
Dude this is perfect!!
Still listening on winamp!!
Somethings not right: this dude (with no autotune) should have a 1000 hits with that voice. Brilliant. Dude, record some more!!
He kind of explains this in an interview just before he played the Opry a few months ago
Fame isn't fun for most people. He got incredibly rich from his single smash hit, as a fellow musician I can testify that being recognized everywhere would get old really quickly. He made the best decision for himself letting his fame career go.
His voice is unbelievable.
@steve58133 He left music after he had kids and decided to focus on being a Father and Husband. His kids are grown now, and he's back making music... but he's a talented singer and song writer, so the music audience today has little interest. Kids today like autotune and guys who sound like SOY when they sing.
He also made the conscious choice to not do what you need to do to maintain the career of a huge star. He is perfectly content being a singer songwriter for fans of indie artists.
i like hows hes so chill and humble. fame didnt get him.
I couldn't agree more!
Agree totally ! Wonderful to see genuine people untouched by greed

"I'll be better when Im older" One of the best songs ever written...its 2019 and im still here, anyone?
Shut up.
likha bathala I love this song.. hopefully I’ll dance to it one day lol
Love this song too
🖐️😊
beatuiful song
This was played at my girlfriends funeral. She was only 28 yrs old. R.I P. Ronna I love you and miss you sweetheart!!!
I am so very sorry….
Damn bro ski.
Fuck dude I’m sorry.
Damn bro, rip to your gf
R.I.P to your woman. My condolances sir.
that bassist is killing those harmonies!
Amen, the guy is good!
Insane
Yeah, great voice and mic work. He mixes himself in just enough to create a subtle layer. I’ve never been able to work with a bassist who could pull this off live. Excellent. 😮
it's insane!
wow his talking voice and then his singing voice - such a transition - love this song haha such a time capsule
Holy Jesus... This live version is better than the recording
When an artist sounds better than a recording, you know they're the real deal. I can only imagine being there.
yep it really is!
Lol i was thinking the sa me thing lol
So true
Pure magic!
let's all be 16 Again....still amazing years later
Annie Mama hear hear!
Annie Urban I'd be 16 again in a heartbeat!! Great comment.
Annie Urban the heart never get's old bro!
Amen. Late 90s! High school
That would be nice just for a day or two. I'm too far to go back from where I came from to where im now
Come On 2019! Lets keep this video alive!
*2021 and we still here*
My.girls
Yaaaaas
On it
yes.
yes !
I tuned in , I turned on, I remembered the thing my children said, Mama. They are living proof my love is alive and not dead.
That bass and harmonies are near perfection. Just an amazing live performance. It’s a song that makes you feel every emotion at the same time.
yes goosebumps listening to their harmonised voices .
Thank you for noticing that as well. I love Edwin, but his backup is perfection. Most don't know to listen for that or recognize it.
the backup vocals is insane!
Great comment !!! He is so on it
AdoboramaTV *are
Reminds of the guys harmonizing on extremes song, more than words
Hell yeaaaaaahhhhhh
I return to this every few months because it's brilliant. :)
I fucking love when artists sing a song so often that they know every single nook and cranny of it. So much so that they tweak it subtly and almost make it a new song that's appreciated by those who love the original. This was awesome.
Videopoker.com
Perfectly said!
couldn't agree more. This is even better than the original.
Amazing way to put that
Wow great fucking comment
A basist who can carry himself smoothly with an acoustic guitarist alone, is a real artist- not hiding behind the drums!
Oh man, this song is timeless masterpiece... Anyone ? Nov. 2024
This is that one song that that no matter where I am or what I am doing I will stop and listen and really soak it in. Even after twenty years it is still one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard.
I love how a live version of a song can sometimes be so much better than the studio version. It doesn't always happen that way, but it's great when it does. Like here.
Best version hands down. He's relaxed and not trying to be MTV guy. Totally genuine. Epic.
That's what I've always appreciated about Edwin, always 100% genuine and passionate about music.
Absolute unit amazivocal
Edwin Mccain & Shawn Mullins was my era...great times
0h my GOD. I think I saw him 12 years later singing the same songs. he was great
this kind of voice stops everyone in the room from what they're doing
The backstory to this song he told makes it even better!!! A treasure of a song!
You know when music is good when it's like honey for your ears.
Simona Simeonova i think you know it's REALLY good when a 6 minute video feels like it was only about 2.
@@handsomepetevideos well he talks for almost 4 of it lol
Best way to describe it.
Yes, so true
👍
This guy's outlook on his song, his golden ticket, is amazing. It might be the millionth time he's played the song but we love it so he loves it.
I was in Vail back in the 90’s when he was just starting out. My friend also played in Vail at the same time. I remember thinking this guys voice has something that’s so unique.
This live version is insanely good. P.S I was the guy at the bar
Yeah props to that bass player for backing him on the chorus. That's what I'm talking about.
This is amazing. This deserves more views. He deserves much more, and the bassplayer too!,
That's right, never be ungrateful for what propelled you for success. You can be mildly irritated by it, but never forget that you are there because of that one shining moment in history that changed your life.
That bassist harmony is WORLD CLASS! Good job!
As a rule, the "Bass Player" is usually the most underrated member of any band... with the rare exception of Paul MacArtney , Sting ....and this guy
+Halabira Lapu-Lapu Sting was the most important guy in his band - while McCartney was the 2nd most important guy in his band. According to some - the most important guy.
+Donnie Williams Very true, Pomar should make it really big himself!
Halabira Lapu-Lapu Stefan Lessard............DMB awesome!
I just passed by to say "FLEA"
Common guys. Youre talking about bass without Flea?
As a rule, the bass player is the least talented musician in the band. Most of them would choose to buy weed over new strings. This guy is one of the exceptions that prove the rule.
I personally can rarely say this, he sounded better in this live performance than the recorded version I listened to just prior to finding this video. Excellent voice and beautiful song.
I got married to this song 21 years ago . I’m still quite happy with both choices ❤️
Great song!
Me too! 19 years though.
So sweet!!! Happy for you and wish you all the joy possible!!
Same ❤
Maturity sounds FANTASTIC in his voice I love the little grit.. the sad part is none of us are promised tomorrow you can only do "better" day by day my brother was 23 a month from 24 when he passed from complications with his Cystic fibrosis.. and he was an amazing individual he LIVED his life . Just to answer the one line "I'll be better when I am older" but this song has been one of those fantasy songs along with "I could not ask for more." and many more they set the relationship bar pretty high...
My wife and I saw him for the first time opening for Hootie 21 years ago. Next month we're going to see Hootie and he's opening again! We can't wait.
When an artist can belt it out better than the studio cut!! That's when you are an ARTIST!!!
If you were born in the 80s and grew up in the 90s this song was really great to be in a relationship to.
Cheers to the audience for staying quiet while he sings and not ruining the performance!
I think they were all captivated and in silent awe!
Jesus, not only is it as good live as recorded (if not better) its actually gotten BETTER over the years!.. well done!
This performance of this song, to me, is the best. The acoustic guitar and his voice with accompaniment is more beautiful than his video performance
I’ve watched this 100 times..... and the 101st will be just as spectacular
I feel almost feel my childhood again when he sings… Wow.
90’s babies stand up
Had to come to you tube from UA-cam music so I could say, the bass player absolutely nails the harmonies beautifully
this might be the best live version of any chart topping song i've ever heard in my life. crazy good.
One of the best songs everrrrrrrr. I’m here. October 2024
Perfect in every way, one of the best songs EVER.
Subdued, brilliant, controlled delivery…a voice and talent that has aged and mellowed so perfectly…underrated, yet still so powerful and sincere…(this one is a classic that will remain timeless…)
The harmonies on this one is so beautiful, Chills listening to this over and over .
Hello Fan. How are you doing? Thank you for being a Fan liking my pages, supporting my dream and career. May God continue to bless you..where are you supporting me from ?❤

you're a very charming woman and you seems like a nice person that I would love to know more about
What I like is when the song sounds as good, or better, in a live performance then the studio mix. This version does that for me.
My first daughter was born in in 98 I would sing this song to my little baby the I'll be the greatest fan of your life! I'll be your crying shoulder🥰
Wow!!! I never thought that he could top the 90's version I have listened to all these years. Edwin you sound amazing and your bassist, wow!!!
Thank you for this gem.
One of the most underrated singer-songwriters for the last 25 years, when he wrote " Solitude" on my list of all time greatest he had me as a fan ever since, great unplugged performance, & the best version also..
That bassist tho he's extraordinary, those harmonies are absolute beast.
All because this guy wanted to go to the bar we got a beautiful song that makes me feel great 👍🏾 I think im goin to the bar anyone coming?
He aged it perfectly
So well done
Ed, you are the man. Most underrated artist ever. World class vocals, and prolific songwriter.
This song is literally from childhood, it plays on the radio non stop around the early 2000s
The bass player with the heavenly second voice 😍😍
And I'll be the greatest fan of your life.......❤ Love this live version. One of their best performances! It's so hard to pick, so many of their are so awesome!🏆🏆🏆
if you ever get tired of playing it but you can bet your , you know what, we wont get tired of hearing it.
Amazing!! Reminds me of every high school dance song 20 years back. Anyone here in Sept 2022!?
Brain overloading from the effortless pitch control...from both of these gents. Mr. McCain makes it seem like it's super easy to sing in full voice and hit those notes PERFECTLY. Incredible performance.
What a voice. What a perfectly written song. Very few of those.
The bass on the 3 note in the chords was brilliant.
In 1999 I sang this to my wife at our wedding a cappella. She’s my ex now but I’m still her greatest fan
The lottery ticket analogy was awessome because it made so much sense. The bass players high harmonies are insane!
This is the most beautiful version of this song I have ever heard. Absolutely love the magic between these two.
Damm goosebumps…….. when people play live they usually sound diff semi out of toon etc that’s why they “mix” it in the studio’
This man’ Jesus voice of a damm angel! He sounds so amazing’ especially live even better than studio version … like wow I’m speechless the emotion he put in just wow!
That bass player too jesus they sound so good together
I know, right? So much talent! :-)
I’ve seriously watched 10’s of thousands of guitar vids and various covers. Of ALL of those that I’ve seen, I’d be hard pressed to pick one that I’ve enjoyed more than this one. Just stupid talented. Beautifully done. 👏 👏👏
I watched this weekly. Someday I will see you in concert
This performance is dialed in. Shout out to the bassist.
That backup note on “I’ll be”... CHILLS
Right? Oh my God! Wow!
The man!!! What a great soul he is! Very personable…
Thanks for sharing!🙏🏼
Caught you opening in Pelham Alabama this year. It was great to see you still pouring your heart in your music bruh. Keep strumming!!!!!
Great words to live by. Everyone needs a greatest fan of their life.
Outstanding live performance. What a voice!!!
Brilliant.... Absolutely brilliant... not to mention the talent standing next to him .. An amazing Bass player and one that brings vocals like that as well.. Respect to you both.. Nice job..
voice is undeniable. and the bass player is LEGIT, love those runs on such a simple progression
what a bass and backup singer
Not sure about anyone else, but the story behind this song wasn’t what I was expecting at all! And also, this video was the first I had ever heard him speak to an audience. What a funny guy! Now I really hope to see a concert!
Oh he's super fun and funny, also interacts with all us GenX peeps on a different app. Love him!!!!
@@youknow2469MitakuyeOyasin I love him even more now!
Been listening to this song some 20+ odd years and this version gave me goosebumps again!
It is amazing when an artists sounds just as good live as they do on recording. Edwin is killing it - no autotune for you my friend!!!
Anybody else here in 2020 during this Coronavirus outbreak😷??
Christina Smith haha right there with you.
Amazing voice. Some might disagree, but I think he sings better than Ed Sheeran
Christina Smith yes! It’s a comforting song 💕
I am here in 2020... brings me back to simpler times! Completely love this song and his talent!
🤝
My wife & I have been fortunate to have seen Edwin a few times in concert and he never disappoints. He gives 110% each and every show. Caught him in Charleston opening for Hootie several years ago and without a doubt best concert I have ever been privileged to be a part of.
850 people have got to reconsider their choices in this world. What a voice!
My God the back up vocals are beyond this world
the guy might of sung this song a thousand times but he always wants to do it better than the last time. he explained that at the start talking about lottery tickets. love how much he puts his heart and soul in to it
Who else thinks... This song is just fucking PERFECTION. ❤
Im 💯
this song is my fav love song.
So can i get ur number?
This song brings me back to early 2000's. This for me is the best version of this song. The song itself and the original recording is perfect but his vocal quality here and the little tweaks in his singing style makes the song even more colorful. This version sounds like someone who has already lived his life and is looking back to the things that he has done and reminiscing every bit of it. Such a beautiful melody and lyrics. :)
How i wish he sing ..Couldn't Love You More in accoustic. This is one of his nice song .
He did it at the same show also! You can search for it on here.
